Brake Abs Warning Light Problems of Chevrolet C1500

Abs brakes start to chatter when brakes applied slowly and will not stop my 2000 chevy silverado. A friend has a 2003 silverado with 35000 miles and did the same thing. Had to use emergency brake to stop. Abs warning light does not indicate a problem. Almost hit a parked car in front of me. Dealer would not make repairs under warranty for my friend. My garage came up with a 150. 00 worth of parts to fix mine. I have 76. 000 miles on my 2000.
