In regards to NHTSA campaign id number: 05v379000, I live in the western mountains of virginia and I am having the identical problems associated with the above mentioned recall. I don't think gm realize that there is a part of virginia, like west virginia, that gets a lot of chloride on the roads in the winter months. The vehicle has had a couple of near accidents due to the malfunction of the abs system. I have removed the fuse to the system until I have the problem fixed.

While attempting to park my vehicle I began coming to a stop and was going to begin backing up, at this time, the abs kicked in and the truck lurched forward hitting a parked car. The brake pedal went all the way to the floor and there was no previous warning. If someone had been between my vehicle and the one hit, they could have been killed. The vehicle was towed from the lot to the dealer. Was told to call customer service by the local dealership. The truck had 84000 miles and brakes had all been replaced 3 months earlier. I do not feel safe driving this truck now.

: the contact stated the abs activates at speeds below 5 mph. There is a NHTSA recall, # 05v379000, regarding the antilock brakes. The vehicle has the same problems as indicated in the recall; however, it is not included in the recall due to the VIN. Updated 2/13/2006 -.
Have 1998 Chevrolet silverado club cab pickup truck. When slowing to stop, the abs braking system malfunctions and the brakes prohibit the truck from coming to a stop in time. Have read of investigation with abs brakes on other years. The 1998 is no different. I've had many close calls and much difficulty in getting some answers as to why were other years recalled and not the 1998. It is doing the same thing other models have a history of doing.

On 10/03/02 I had a chevy truck (VIN 1gcek19r1te258073) repaired for low speed abs engagement, (under ext warr). In sept of 2005, I again started experiencing low speed abs engagement. This time since it was out of warranty, I had it repaired at an independent shop. It occurred first at 51,409 mi and the next time at 70,000 mi. This could prove to be a real pain if this problem is going to resurface every 20,000 miles.

Abs system activates at low speeds causing a much longer time to stop my truck. Almost rolled out into on coming traffic. Only happens occasionally without any rhyme or reason.

At speeds under 7 miles per hour when the brakes are applied the anti-lock system engages and will not allow the brakes to work (no brakes whats so ever and the truck keeps rolling without any stopping effects at all).
Consumer applied the brakes and the brake pedal went to the floor. Took vehicle to the dealer for analysis. The mechanic could not resolve the problem.
My husband owns a 03 silverado C1500. I drive it to save on gas. I have tried coming to a stop before, and had the pedal all the way to the floor, I almost missed my turn. I scared me because I know you do not need that much pressure on brakes to stop. The biggest problem I have is everytime I make a left turn, there is a knocking noise in the front end. We thought is was the shroud cover, but was not. It is now getting louder, and I would like to find out if this is being investigated for a recall for both the brakes and the knocking noise? thanks in advance for the help!.
While driving abs went out, and consumer could only use the regular brakes. Concern arose when consumer was informed that there have been numerous problems with the abs with these vehicles. Consumer feels a recall should be issued.
Abs would engage at low speed. Vehicle been to dealer on two occasions, and problem still occurring. Feel free to provide any further information.

When putting on brakes the brakes feel like they jump and your vehicle hops to a stop. Have replaced front brakes 3 times in two years and back brakes 2 times. The steering feels loose sometimes when you turn right or left. Dealer has replaced the brake caliber on right side front once already and rotors on right side front when applying brakes vehicle vibrates. They have also replaced something on the steering but it is still doing the same thing.
No summary listed for above vehicle.

Antilock brakes engage at slow speeds needing further stopping distances. This problem has been happening for at least three years. I have called the dealer several times and checked for recalls on this defect. When I did find out they were recalling in other states I again called the dealer to complain. Now that there is a recall I find that my vehicle is not included.
Dealer claimed flr due to improper fluids, dealer performed all maintaince since new. Summary not clear as to safety defect.

This vehicle will not stop when going over bumps or rumble strips or potholes. I have spoken with several dealerships and some know of the problem but have not recieved a recall to correct this situation. This is very serious since it requires an additional 30 to 50 feet of stopping distance. I leave an extraordinary didtance between myself and the vehicle in front of me for fear that I will have to make an ordiary stop just when there road gets bumpy.
While driving vehicle about 55 mph consumer front brakes do not release, and the component on the abs kelsey heyes gets too hot and consumer cannot hold on. When brakes get hot they make noise like grinding metal to metal. Manufacturer and dealer were contacted.

Consumer was traveling 15-20 mph, upon making a sudden stop brake pedal traveled to to floorboard, causing the consumer to have a collision.
While driving the truck applied brakes, the pedal goes to the floor. Once the driver applies pressure to the pedal the brakes will catch, and that's when the truck stops.
