1 Automatic Transmission Control Module problem of the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro

Failure Date: 08/12/2022

On Friday August 12th 2022 at 9:30pm check engine light came on after car was sitting turned off for a few hours while my fiance was buffing/polishing/waxing the car. Checked the chevy app, it didn't list any problems. Took it to auto zone. They ran diagnostics. Came back codes p0711 and p0700. Made appointment at aamco Monday August 15th. Car was not smoothly down shifting and when put in drive or reverse would jump slightly. Aamco basically said the transmission was bad. Which I can't understand how that could happen, it's a 2016 only has a little over 70,000 miles on it and is extremely well taken care of. I'm being told we have 2 options either the whole transmission needs to be taken out and rebuilt to find the problem, an estimated $3000-$6000. Or 2 the tcm can be replaced/reprogrammed for over $2500 which is not a guaranteed fix. They also told us a few other chevys with low miles also needed a transmission rebuild! so what is going on Chevrolet!? and we're still making payments on this car and it's already having expensive problems!.

2 Automatic Transmission Control Module problem of the 2020 Chevrolet Camaro

Failure Date: 10/14/2020

The contact owns a 2020 Chevrolet Camaro. The contact stated while shifting into gears to pull out of a parking space, the vehicle failed to respond. The vehicle was taken to an unknown dealer, where the tcm was replaced. Additionally, the contact stated that while reversing out of a parking space, the vehicle accelerated unintendedly. The contact stated that the brake pedal was depressed, but failed to respond. The vehicle hit a brick wall and crashed into an unoccupied parked vehicle, which then pushed an occupied vehicle. There was no warning light illuminated. The side air bags deployed. There was no injury sustained. A police report was filed. It was unknown whether there was property damage. The vehicle was towed to caliber collision and was awaiting an insurance adjuster assessment. The contact had received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 15v148000(power train), which the contact related to the failure; however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The local dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 5,000. VIN tool confirms parts not available.

3 Automatic Transmission Control Module problem of the 2015 Chevrolet Camaro

Failure Date: 10/08/2018

My Camaro's accelerator stopped functioning at highway speeds in heavy traffic. I had to coast to a stop while dodging traffic. The engine ran, at idle. I put it in park. I still could not accelerate. I could floor it. Nothing but idle. I turned off the power and cut it back on and I was able to engaged the accelerator to get off the freeway and have it towed to a dealer. This is almost the same symptoms as the functional hack as demonstrated in the wired magazine "Jeep hack" video. After troubleshooting it 9 days, the dealer gave me the following info. U100 data bus: engine control module (ecm) a - no communication u101 data bus: transmission control module (tcm) - no communication u121 data bus: anti-lock brake system (abs) control module - no communication u176 data bus: supplementary restraint system (srs) sensor g - no communication I believe this to be either a very serious defect, or a malicious hacking attempt. I lost control of the vehicle at highway speeds. I can't drive this vehicle without the fear of it happening again. Without warning. Gm's official answer is that they will give me an oil change coupon. I do not find this satisfactory. I find it a huge danger to my life and those around me. I am insulted that gm finds it funny. Research I have done shows that they have covered up stuff like this before. I think the public needs to know. I asked gm for contact info on their federal overseer for the ignition issue. They refused. I don't think they have learned their lesson.
