: the contact stated while driving at various speeds and applying the brakes the front end vibrates. When the problem first occurred at 12,000 miles the dealership resurfaced the brake rotors. The problem reoccurred at 19,000 miles and again the dealer resurfaced the rotors. While the vehicle was at the dealership for the brake pads, it was determined the brake rotors need to be replaced. The brake rotors were not replaced.

My 2001 Camaro with less than 37k miles was taken to the dealership for new brakes. No reason I took car to dealership other than I wanted new brakes though nothing squeaked & I had no trouble. I did not expect to be told I needed new rotors as the dealership informed me the current rotors were too thin and I needed to replace them as well as the pads and brake linings. I was stunned as the car is hardly driven but a mere 8 miles round trip to work & back the last two years. I would have thought the other California dealership car was taken too just 7 months prior for brake inspection at 33,713 would have advised of impending issue? in reviewing the brake inspection paperwork dated 7/24/05 I clearly noticed the techs lack of attention to even filling in the proper boxes brake linings. The $1100 spent to fix problem is not an issue. Its the safety issue! love the car & have had 3 (95,97 & 2001) but am leary to drive it with what appears to be an engineering problem with rotor/pads and gm is ignoring it? Ford ignored their problems with tires for years and how many people died?.
The front right rotor warped. When driving at approximately 40 mph and the brakes were applied there was shutter/vibrated, and vehicle pulled to the right. Owner took vehicle to the dealer on two occasions, and dealer replaced the rotors. Also, informed owner the front right rotor is warped. After about 10,000 miles vibration returned. Vibration was felt when vehicle was driven at 40 mph or greater.
The dealership informed the consumer that when the vehicle pulsated, the problem was due to warped rotors. Please provide more information.
When pressing on the brakes consumer heard a noise coming from the brakes. Consumer took the vehicle to a mechanic, who determined that the rotors wore out prematurely.

My 2002 Camaro has had excessive vibration in the steering wheel cased by warped front rotors. Rotors were turned but 8k miles later they were so warped again that they had to be replaced. Put new pads and aftermarket slotted rotors to redue warping.
Have had 2 sets of rotors on this car since purchased. Now needs another set. Warranty will no longer cover this. Car is driven less than 20 miles per day, and currently has 28k on the 3rd set of rotors, dealer claims this is normal. This is not normal!! car should not be having these problems. It is a performance car, and should it be driven like one, the rotors may heat, warp and cause a hazardious condition that may cause an accident or death!. Dealers have many complaints, & so does Chevrolet, why are they doing nothing about this?.
While applying the brakes the vehicle would jerk. The driver was able to control the vehicle and drove it to the dealer for inspection. The mechanic informed the driver that all four rotors needed to be replaced because they were warped. Please provide any additional information.

Brake rotors were warped and had to be turned twice within the first 15,000 miles of ownership under normal driving conditions. Dealer would not replace under warranty however, they machined the rotors as a "courtesy" and advised me not to stop so hard in the future - ridiculous!.
Front disc brake rotors warped prematurely.
Car will not brake or stop smoothly. Condition is warped rotors. Selected a well known popular parts shop for replacement rotor. Replacement rotor is diamond cut w/o holes. Bigger cooling vains with a set of porcelin pads. Unknown at this time if this corrects the warping problem.

Car has required service 2 times for warped rotors after only 25000 miles. Neither repair was covered under warranty. First time, the service people said we must have driven the car through water when the brakes were hot. 2nd time they say we are driving the car aggressively or in a lot of traffic, but admit that this is a common problem with Camaro ss and corvette. This seems to be a design flaw in the car, if the brake rotor regularly become warped.
Car only has 40000 miles on it and whenever I would brake or come up to a stop light, the wheels would shimmy and the steering wheel would vibrate. I was afraid it would not stop and would cause an accident. I took it to the Chevrolet dealer in waldorf MD. The mechanic said he could find nothing wrong with it and could not make it do it. That was 2 months ago and it still does it all the time. Sounds like all these other similar complaints for this vehicle. . Defective warped rotors. This is very dangerous and I cannot get a dealership to fix it.
2002 camero has developed excessive rotor wear and warping at low mileage and normal driving conditions. Dealer cliams it is not covered by warranty since it is not a defect in labor or material. Dealer service agent told me in confidence they have seen numerous cases and believe it to be a bad batch of rotors. . . Still won't fix under warranty!!!.
I have problems with the rotors on my 2001 Camaro. They keep warping. I had them turned 04/25/2002 and now they are warping again I only put 200 miles on since I turned them.
Front brake rotors warped at 19,000 miles replaced under warranty. . Rotors warped again at 31,000 miles and resurfaced under warranty. . Warped beyond repair at 46,000 miles. . Dealer and gm will not replace and does not believe this to be a defect. Did not have same problem with 97 Camaro.
Front brake rotors warped on 1998 Chevrolet Camaro z28; I know of several people personally that have 1998 and up Camaros/firebirds that had this issue. I have also heard many similar complaints from people in car clubs and internet message boards. People refer to the stock rotors as junk because they warp so often which leads me to the conclusion that the car manufacture did not put adequately designed rotors on the vehicles. People with this issue say to buy non-oem rotors because they will warp again and simply having the rotors turned does not help as they warp again. I have actually had my rotors turned and new brakes (installed by dealership with oem parts) put on the car and I have the warping issue. Mechanics that I know also agree that the brakes/rotors are not adequately designed for these vehicles.
Brakes!!!!!!!!rotors warped again!!!!!!!!!!!!rotors warped again and again !!!!!!!! .
Very bad shimmy and shake when braking, also when trying to spped up from a dead stop or otherwise car pulls back, or stumbles. At about 45000 miles a valve broke into three pieces. Had heads replaced. Brakes and stumbling is reoccuring brakes since I bought the car new in 99 and stumble since early 2004. Speakers located in the back seat panels also keep blowing out.
Premature wear of brake rotors are causing vehicle to pulsate and vibrate. Dealer has replaced rotors, butproblem has reoccurred. Feel free to provide any further information.
Vehicle vibrates during braking. Have had rotors replaced and turned. Problem returns every time. Rotors are warping due to normal braking. Dealer says it is due to hard driving, will not service under warranty.
When applying brakes at high speed vehicle shutters. Steering wheel vibrates, and braking distance is extended. Also, rotors were resurfaced at 4000 miles, then replaced. Rotors need resurfacing again at this time.
The rotors on * Camaros sinc approximately 1998 are faulty. However, the 2001 and 2002 models seem to be suffering the most frequent failures. The rotors on my 2001 z28 warped and were serviced under warranty at 6,500 miles. Already, at 11,000 miles, they are warped again. I do not race or autocross this vehicle, so oem parts should be more than sufficient. I contacted my dealershi again and was told (off the record, of course) that the oem rotors for the Camaro are poorly designed and don't match up with this car. They advised me to purchase an aftermarket set of rotors from an automotive parts store and not to use oem parts. They also will not warranty the rotors a second time. Considering the fact that the dealerships are telling the customers that the stock rotors are not matched to the car, Chevrolet should issue a safety recall. If the rotors are warping prematurely, then they are most certainly subject to premature failure and could cause a fatal accident. I can provide you with probably 50 other documented cases of the oem rotors warping at an accelerated rate. I'm hopting that NHTSA can put some pressure on gm to fix this problem before it causes a fatality.
While applying brakes, the vehicle vibrates due to the brake rotors being warped, dealership is aware of the problem. . Consumer stated the rotors have been turned and replaced twice.
I first experienced the brake system problem at 10000 miles. I was informed by the dealership that they did not do brake system repairs on Saturday's and I would have to call back and reschedule for an appointment. When I was finally able to get the car into the shop for repairs, I was informed that the rotors were warped and they would need to be turned down. I agreed to the repair and 8 days later I was able to pick my car up. Within 5000 miles of the repair I was back in the shop with the same complaint. However, after several attempts at trying to schedule an appointment with the original dealership, I was forced to contact a new dealership for repairs. I was told the same as before and agreed to have the rotors turned again. Please keep in mind that nothing was mentioned about the condition of the pads. 1000 miles later and I was returning to the dealership with the same complaint. Rotors turned and again no mention of the brake pads. 1000 miles later yet again, I was in for the same complaint, this time I had brake failure prior to returning to the dealership. This time the rotors were checked for specs at my request and it was found that 3 of the 4 were below specs. Again no mention of the brake pad condition. I made it almost 8000 miles before I had to return for the same problem. This time I was told that I needed new brake pads and that was the cause of the brake problem.
Front rotors warp so bad steering wheel shakes so violently you can lose control, gm says normal wear and tear, 1/2 front breakpads still left.
Rotors first became warped at around 20,000. Rotors continue to become warped every 5-10,000. Gm/Chevrolet refuse to admit or fix this defect despite numerous complaints from many drivers.
Front brake rotors experienced warping under normal driving conditions, causing shuddering of vehicle during braking. Dealer resurfaced rotors. Rotors warped again within 2000 miles.
Both front rotors have been turned twice to releive wearout. Rotors will have to be replaced again, and will not be covered under warranty by manufacturer. Defective rotors do not allow consumer to stop vehicle appropriately which could cause an automobile accident.
Front brake rotors have warped. Dealer will not replaced rotors under warranty. Chevy considers it acceptable for rotors to warp at 30,000 miles.
Badly warped rotors making auto uncontrollable during braking due to heavy shudder.
The warped rotors that were replaced in my car were warped at about 9,000 miles. My biggest concern is that the dealer is telling me that this is not warranty work because this is "normal" wear and tear.
Vehicle exp[eriencing problem with front rotors wraping due to high heat while applying brakes. Dealer notified.
Front brake rotor continually warp. Replacements were done at every 8,000 miles of wear. Vehicle been to three different dealers, and still unable to resolve the problem. Feel free to provide any further details.
