Chevrolet Camaro owners have reported 65 problems related to brake disc rotor (under the service brakes category). The most recently reported issues are listed below. Also please check out the statistics and reliability analysis of Chevrolet Camaro based on all problems reported for the Camaro.
Dealer has refaced front brake rotors twice once under warranty and once for $100. 00 I believe the rotors to be defective due to oem quality or heat treat specifications and engineering standards, there are aftermarket rotors available that do not warp with the severity and frequency of the oem parts.

Ongoing problem with faulty rotors. On two occasions (14,000 miles & 28,000 miles), dealer turned all rotors because of pulsation received from brake pedal when applied brakes. Currently, at 32,000 miles, problem reoccurred, and dealer refused to replace rotors.
Freeway speed braking compromised due to extreme vibration caused by warped front rotors. Dealer has tried to repair problem by machining - always reappears after 5000 miles. Now they refuse to fix as it is a 'wear item'. This is a design or material quality issue that has been present since new. Brakes that can't be used to their full effectiveness are a safety item.

Warped rotors.
Rotors were turned around in April 1999, and were warped at this time. When applying brakes steering wheel shakes. Took vehicle to dealer 3 times for rotor problems.
I have had my rotors turned once in sept of 1998. I went back to the dealership since the problem came back on 3-30-99 and they refused to turn it saying it was not under warranty and that it would cost me $435. I refused to pay it and want the dealership to replace my rotors free of charge as well as my front tires due to excessive wear and tear beacuse of the rotors. I have already wrote them a letter but havent gotten a response yet.
Rotors warped at 6k miles, dealer resurfaced same. Rotors warped at 12k miles again. Dealer replaced all 4 rotors. Since the new rotors are the same as original, I'm expecting the problem to return. Problem occurs at turnpike speed (65 +) and causes violent shaking of car. In a panic situation could result in loss of control.
Rotors turned at 9100 miles. Warped again at 27,000. Dealer failed to make good.
Front brake rotors warped prematurely, problem became noticable when making sudden stops. Nlm.
At 8700 miles the rotors were turned under warranty, at 16700 I had to pay for them to be resurfaced at the Chevrolet dealership. I am afraid to brake my car hard because I think I will warp my front rotors again. This is a safty concern for me.
Brake rotors warped, causing bad pulsaton when braking and reduced braking effectiveness. From the discussion via the internet with other Camaro owners, this is a widespread problem probably caused by inferior materials in the rotors themselves.
Rotors warp prematurely.

Both front brake rotors warped. Yh.
Rotors warped at 15000 miles and again at 26000.
Brake rotors warped at 10k miles. Dealer refused to perform warranty work. "high performance driving" was his excuse.
The brake rotors on this car warp over a 10,000 mile period, causing steering wheel shaking and possible loss of control. This car is 18 months old and has 42240 miles on it. The rotors were resurfaced by the dealer on 4/9/98 at 11,633 miles, again on 8/11/98 at 21,181 miles, then they replaced the rotors on 12/23/98 at 31,376 miles, then these new rotors warped and were resurfaced on 5/20/99 at 41,830 miles. As you can see, the brake rotors need to be done every 10,000 miles. The shaking in the steering wheel begins to appear again at about 8,000 miles after the last work is done and gets worse until the shake is uncontrolable at about 10,000 miles. The dealer and Chevrolet say they cannot figure out what is causing this (I have called customer assistance many times and have sent a certified letter to Chevrolet motor division). I have heard of many other Camaro and trans am owners (with v-8 engines) with this same problem. I don't know if the rotors are defective, if the brake pads are too hard (causing the rotors to over heat & warp) or it is another problem with the braking system.
Both left and right front brake rotors warped. Yh.
Rotors had to be replaced twice, and vehicle started to shake when applying brakes. Consumer stated vehicle felt like it would not stop.
When applying brakes at speeds of 40mph and higher vehicle vibrates violently. Dealer has replaced rotors three times, and the problem has reoccurred.
Premature wear of the brake rotors, causing warping and extended stopping distance vehicle is on its second set of rotors.
Brakes were squeaking, dealership replaced the rotors, however 2 weeks later brakes are squeaking again.
When applying brakes vehicle will vibrate real hard. Mechanic stated that front rotors were defective. Consumer has replaced rotors several times.

Brake rotors are prematurely wearing, cause unknown. Please give any further details.
Rotors are warped, and when driving at highway speed vehicle shimmies. When appling brakes front shakes very hard. Dealer has attempted to repair this problem once, but it has occurred again.
Taken vehicle to dealership to have brakes checked. Mechanic noticed rotors were warped & turned them. This has happened 3 times before because steering wheel vibrated. The fourth time rotors were replaced due to being too thin. Now rotors are warped again.
Brake rotors have to be replaced for the third time with only 22,000 miles. Dealer claims that it's normal.
When driving above 60mph and applying the brakes, the steering wheel vibrates alot due to rotors being warped.
Have been to dealer numerous times about rotors warping and vibrating.
Brake rotors warped at less than 10,000 miles. Seems to be a common problem on these cars.
Warped rotors caused vibration.
