January 14,2009 my car almost caught on fire due to acid from my battery liking into the battery pan. I had to unhook the battery and take it out of the car. My step son was driving by my house when my cars lights were on andthe car had been sitting for about 3 hours. I went outside and the lights were very dim. I tried to start it up and the car started smoking and I immediately turned the car off. There were sparks so I had to put out the small flame and remove the battery. I had the car towed to parker pontiac Buick GMC that same day. The small fire burned through my windshield washer fluid line the cost to me for repair of the small fire was about 487. 00.

: the contact stated while traveling 50 mph on dry road conditions, all gauges except the rpm gauge lost power and stopped functioning. Also, the daytime running lights would not turn off, and an error message was displayed on the instrument panel. The contact plans to notify the manufacturer after filing a complaint with the NHTSA. Updated 11/30/2006- these failures were caused by a dead cell in the battery.

Driving down the road, motor stops running and I lost all power both steering and electrical. Got it to the side of the road. Waited 2 minutes and started it back up it was fine. Only did this 2 times within a week period. Engine idle rough since I purchased it in 1998. Took it in and they said they could not find anything. Came back several times they essentially said thay could do nothing thats just how they run. Motor surges and lags after start up. Regardless of temperature. Push pedal motor bogs down and then it will take off. Replaced almost every sensor under the hood problem is still present. Battery took a dump at almost 4 years. Engine spun #3 and #4 bearings on a cold start up. They advised me that I needed a water pump at the same time. Pass power window was always slow. Replaced approx mid 2002 rear suspension clunks and sounds like it has lumber in the trunk. Wheel studs snap easily as I have replace approximately 10. Rear brakes drag and grab even after replacement. Front brakes wear excessively. Rubber muffler hanger wears out. Replaced 2 times.

High beams & drl's stopped working, checked fuses, none blown. Took to dealer and found that battery that had been previously replaced for leaking, was again leaking. The acid damaged headlight wire harness making drl's and high beams non-functional. Dealer says battery has no warranty even though battery states 5 year warranty.
Light comes on, on dash consumer has taken vehicle to the dealer, and they told him that it was nothing wrong with vehicle. When he was on vacation, radiator hose busted. When he returned home , he went to the dealer, and was reimbursed some of his money back by the dealer. Also, was told by dealer when dash light indicator that something was wrong with battery.
Battery leaked acid from positive post down into battery box which drained into engine compartment and on to the electrical harness junction which is routed under the battery box. There is no drain tube to drain any acid overflow down under the car. The acid burned through the junction and shorted out the main harness to all the lighting on the front of the car. If this had been at night I would have lost my headlights and turn signals. There is minor damage to torque converter housing and motor mount. I'm waiting now to hear from the dealer as to when the car will be returned to me after the repairs are done, and see if Chevrolet will take care of the repairs. It is my belief they need to install a drain tube in the battery box and reroute this harness away from this area. I fear as to what would happen if this had been at night and I was driving down the road at highway speeds. This battery was the one that came with the car. *****dims 11 ivoq entry posted after 12/12/02 cut-over to artemis*****769324.
Daytime running lights are inoperative. Acid from battery post leaking out and dripping onto harness connector, melting plastic, and plastic corroding the connector, which can cause an under hood fire.
Consumer took vehicle in for recall 02v07, however was charged 800 dollars for a new battery, consumer states that this seems awfully high. The vehicle stalled due to a minor engine problem. The valve cover gasket and the arching spark plugs were replaced.

The original delco battery leaked acid from the positive side terminal. This is a risk for a chemical burn and corrosion to the chassis. This is my third new gm car that had the original delco battery leak out the side positive terminal. I believe this is a problem with factory original delco batteries. The first time was with a 91 Cadillac sedan deville, the second was with a 93 Chevrolet silverado 3500 dually truck. I believe delco batteries have a serious design flaw that is ongoing. Gm delco does not appear to have fixed the design flaw. These three batteries leaked when they were three years old. I sold the 91 Cadillac and bought a 99 Cadillac. I don't trust the battery and plan to pull the battery at 24 months before it leaks acid. I will never buy a delco replacement. I still have the cavilier battery sitting in a puddle of acid in the garage. Let me know if you need a picture or if somebody needs to see it.
First, the whole transmission was rebuilt at dealers, the sensor fan now does not work, the battery and radiator are not functioning, the steering is malfunctioning, and the brakes are slipping, and now the transmission is also slipping again, I reported all this to chevy as I was not getting satifaction from the dealers in florida and now the my vehicle is broke down and will not run in bradenton florida at cox chevelot on cortez road in florida, I called and talked to several women in the customer service at chevy and their names are brandy mays and lillania lopez, I still have no vehicle and now I am not receiving any courteous service as I was told chevy would buy back the vehicle and it was a lease. I have purchased a new chevy truck and due to the red tape and chevy now refusing to help assist me with the buy back I am unable to keep my new truck due to this red tape and all the forms and information that the service dept. Now says I need to have had done, but I was not informed when I first made the complaint on sept 7. I called back on sept, 28, when I found out that chevy went back on their word. I am not a car dealer, I do not work at chevy as a service representitive, and I sure do not know what papers or forms are required for the manufacture in detroit michigan needs to fill out paperwork. I am an unsatified consumer, and I feel the run around I am receiving is a great injustice. I loved my car and it is immaculate inside and out. I only want to keep my new chevy truck which is not looking as a possible option as chevy is not cooperating, the dealer moved its lot, the service departments in florida will not service the vehicle, and it is an engine censor chip, the transmission, the radiator sensor fan and now the steering, I have no knowledge on how to repair a sensor chip or any of these things and since the car is in florida I cannot get it to kentucky. Now gmac, my financer on my new truck will not finance me.
Battery light comes on, and looks as if it is on. When driving in rain the battery warning light comes on, there is no shield under the car to protect the brakes, engine, battery, etc. Dealer contacted, and cannot duplicate the problem, no repairs can be made.
Battery leaked acid onto the engine compartment which could have caused a fire. Also, right side mirror fell off/water pump malfunctioned, and windshield washer motor broke. Please provide further information.
