My 2003 chevy Cavalier, at 77,000 miles, quit without any warning. I was lucky to be on a low traffic street. After having it towed home and getting on line, I found numerous complains about the same year and make. Everyone complained that their fuel pump went out. After purchasing the fuel pump module and doing the work myself (due to lack of funds) the car ran fine. When will the recall begin, after someone dies?.
I own a 2003 chevy Cavalier. The fuel pump went out on it. The car only has 60,000 miles on it. Everything was working great I pulled up to a store turned off the car, ran an errand, then the car wouldn't start. I checked all fuses and relays, and hit the bleed off in the fuel line. The pump just quit. I did some research and many ppl believe that the fuel pump in 2003 and 2001 Cavaliers has a defect. Im one of those people.
Have had fuel line, and fuel pump replaced. Still get a strong smell of gas. . . . Can not get rid of the odor. There is not a gas leak that is visible to the human eye but the scent still lingers inside and out.

Car would start but not crank. Checked fuel line and no pressure. Took to mechanic and the fuel pump needed to be replaced should not have to be replaced for about ten years. Was told several complaints about this vehicle fuel pump from years 2001 to 2003 and from 50k to 90mi. Needed is a new fuel pump and assembly.
I was driving on the interstate at 70 miles per hour when all of the sudden I lost all power--called a tow truck and the driver said it was the fuel pump-started looking for info on line about it and found about 500 or more complaints-the car is still sitting in my driveway waiting to be fixed-a friend let me use his truck until I can save about 700 dollars.

Consumers fuel line leaked and was repaired. A few days late it developed another pin hole leak. The consumer smelled fuel while driving. He later discovered that the return fuel line running down the side of the driver's side of the car was leaking onto the muffler. The vehicle was taken to a service dealer where it was temporarily fixed. About a month later the fule line rnning up the passenger side of the vehicle developed a pin hole leak.
Rusted out fuel lines that are leaking bad.
