In February, I had taken my 1997 chevy Cavalier to the dealer for the bearing recall in Feb of 2003, after that I had problems when turning left my steering gets hard and have no control, I had the rack changed, in July of 2003 it worked fine up till sat. Jan 10, 2004 I had no control when turning left and right it was like I had no power steering. And it still does it, and im afraid that it could injure myself and my children. I saw the recall that gm was doing and thought that this could be my problem as well.

My 1996 chevy Cavalier, steering wheel locked up , while driving 50 mph on a busy road. I totally lost power and I pulled over, after almost being hit by several other cars. This is another major concern for this vechile. Gm, should inquire more about this problem!.

I read an article about all the gm steering stuff and I just wanted to write my complaint, my steering looked up on me causing me to run off the road and hit a tree which flipped my car over and totalled out my car. I just think that it is a serious problem that gm needs to fix before somebody gets killed or hurt like me.

I own a 2002 Chevrolet Cavalier and was driving down the road the road bends to the left (slightly) the speed limit was 30 mph I proceeded to negotiate the turn at 20-25 mph which I have done thousands of times the car came out of the turn and would not recover the steering went out and the car went out of control striking a tree and injuring myself the car was a total loss.

Consumer was unable to steer the vehicle to the left.

Consumer loss steering control, when the vehicle hit a curve.

When you drive it the steering wheel wobbles and you can feel it in your feet like front end is loose.

Had a problem with steering, noticed it before I purchased the car, the dealer said they would fix it. What they did was install rack and reset alignment. The car was fine after this for about a month and then started having the same problem again. The dealer is saying now it is a different problem, but I am still having the same kind of steering problem. And so they want me to pay for the repair, even though they haven\\'t fixed the original problem.

The consumer stated that while at an intersection making a left turn, there was loud sound and making the turn was not possible. It had taken several hundred dollars to repair the steering system. The consumer requested reimbursement due to the fact that the system should'nt have failed.

Vehicle made a loud noise while consumer was making a left turn. The cause was determined to be a broken steering system.

Consumer attempted to make a left turn, however the wheels did not turn left, but veered toward the right which resulted in a collision. Just received a recall notice from gm concerning steering.

As I was driving down us 95 north in las vegas at 65 mph, the ignition suddenly turned off and left me coasting with no power steering or brakes. I was in the exit lane. Because it was a manual transmission, I was able to depress the clutch and turn the key and engine fired right up again before I decreased too much speed this happened several times during the 3 years I owned this car. The second time was on rapart blvd between cheyenne and lake mead, again in las vegas. I was able to safely coast out of traffic and into a parking lot where I left the car because I thought it unsafe to drive. Mechanics could never figure out why it continued to do this. I think gm needs to look even farther back with these ignition issues as the Cavalier is the predecessor to the cobalt. I repeat this happened many times and they could never figure out what was wrong with it.

2000 Chevrolet Cavalier experiencing loud popping noises while driving. The problem was fixed, but it returned and is continuous.

I have a 1996 chevy Cavalier VIN # 3g1jc5240ts884522 that had some very serious steering problems 1 year ago. The car acted like the power steering unit quit or would only allow you to turn to the right. It got to the point where we could not steer the vehicle anymore. We had it repaired at a cost of $1500. I then learned of a campaign, #02v286000, that listed the same problems that my car was having. I would like to know if you could issue a recall for that vehicle or if my car was actually covered for this possible recall.

Consumer experienced an intermittent/ongoing problem with vehicle steering locking up while making a turn at a low speed. Vehicle been in/out dealer shop on three occasions, and informed that nothing could be found/duplicated and problem still occurs.

The steering wheel did not realign properly after making a turn. The dealer has been contacted. Please describe further.
