I bought my Cobalt in March of 2007. For the last year the radio will only play on the back speakers. The stero it self will play but some time nothing on sreen to show station or time. That not a magior as the problem the has happened now three time. When we go to stop at a light and push in on the cluck the car will die and the gauges on the dash will shoot over to the right and then to the left side fast. The car will restart. In the last month the front in will shimmy and shake when sppling the breaks. Dose it real bad when you slowing down when over 55 mile per hour. I have seen many complains on the front end. Wll it take a person to be killed for the chevy company to have the vehicles called in and looked at. I bought the car because of the price, mile per gallon of gas. And over all look.

At 54000 miles a "clunking" noise began from the drivers side front when taking off from a stop or going over moderate bumps in the road. Im at 57000 now and the noise has transfered to the passenger side also. Have not yet had the chance to have it looked at but I feel its safe to assume my problem is going to be the same as all the rest.
I own a 2007 chevy colbot car. I am facing my third replacement of front end struts since I purchased the car. As a taxpapyer who helped bailout gm and even purchased gm product for the first time, I am extremely upset. My gm dealer at jack matia in elyria, ohio 44035 has repalced the other struts.
Front end noise when hitting any small bump. Dealer says front end bushings need replacement. Car is a 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt. Car has 45,00 km and is just out of warranty. Car was driven by a woman and she didn't notice the front end noise. This car has been like this for a while as the front tires are worn out. The vehicle should not have this problem with such low km.
Lower a-arm bushings replaced with only 58,000 miles also upper strut mounts are also bad and need replaced.

I have a 2007 colbalt lt and had to have the brakes and struts replaced at 40,000 miles. The front of the car was shaking when putting on the brakes and had a loud noise. I took the car to a repair shop when they replaced the brakes and struts. The struts shouldn't go up this quick. Now the key gets stuck in the ingition.
While driving my 2007 chevy Cobalt I could feel it was pulling to the right. After awhile the whole front in was starting to vibrate. When I would be driving it felt like to whole engine was going to fall out. The noise was very loud and annoying. I seriously do not feel safe driving this car. I finally got it replaced, but this is two things in the last year, the front end bushing and the steering column. On this car we were told you could of just replace the bushings that you had to replace the whole part holding it up. This problem occurs at all speed limits.
2007 chevy has rattling noise and sounds like front end is falling off. Took to dealer and was told the front end bushing(s) has to be replaced at a cost near 400. 00. How many complaints do we need to make before a recall is in order.
Cracking sound in front end.
We purchased two 2006 chevy Cobalt cars. One in oct of 07 and one in may or June of 08. One month after we purchased the 2nd vehicle, my son was involved in an accident in it. While on the road (not speeding) the passenger side tie-rod broke (he heard a sudden snap) , the c-v joint came loose (or shattered?) and his entire wheel on that side broke loose throwing him into a ditch. His car was totaled. He came very close to rolling the car and could have been killed. Fortunately he remained calm and was not injured. Upon examination of the vehicle, it was discovered that the tie rod end and cv joints especially on that side were never lubricated from the factory. The stress of the parts without this lubrication caused them to snap. This has been confirmed by the auto body shop that did the inspection of the vehicle. Concerned about the 1st Cobalt that we purchased, we inspected it also. It too, was in the same condition. The tie rods and cv joints on the passenger side were bone dry and the drivers side had next to no grease in them. Naturally, we had them lubricated. But it seems very strange and outrageous that two vehicles would have the very same defect and a very dangerous one at that. I felt that someone should know about this so that other Cobalt owners can have their vehicles inspected.

Horrible rattling noises in the entire vehicle. I hear rattling from every direction. It is a very bumpy and noisy ride. Not worth the money I paid.
The contact owns a 2005 Chevrolet Cobalt. The contact stated that whenever he made a left and right turn or drive over a pot hole there was a constant knocking noise on the front drivers side of the vehicle. When the failure occurred it was as if the wheels were separating from the vehicle. The dealer was contacted and stated that this was a constant problem which required the bushings to be replaced occasionally. The vehicle was not repaired when the complaint was filed. The failure mileage was 25,500 and the current mileage was 41,328.
The contact owns a 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt. The contact heard a noise as if metal to metal were knocking together in the front end of the vehicle, especially when he hit a bump in the road. The contact noticed that the failure had become progressively worse since he purchased the vehicle in may of 2007. The dealer installed new brakes pads and turned the rotors; however, the failure continued to occur while driving various speeds. He took the vehicle to the dealer 7 times and the most recent was February 2010 when the dealer replaced the two front struts. The failure has not recurred since the front struts were replaced. He called the manufacturer and was instructed to take the vehicle to the dealer. The current mileage was approximately 49,000. The failure mileage was approximately 900.
