I got my Cobalt in ending 2010-2011 and never received a single recall on my Cobalt ,and now a friend told me of this sight there is so many recalls that need to be done on my car and beginning with the transmission ,it runs grate it just doesn't know what gear it is in. Also my door locks unlock by them self its like I have a spirit in the car (very un safe). Not to mention when the car was in drive it would slip into neutral on its own, same with if your in reverse it will slip into neutral. Please notify me non of the past recalls was ever done on my car, I want to have a list and put my car into a chevy shop and have all recalls fixed, I was never notifityed >and ive lived in the same house that I own for 10+ years>it will not reconize what gear it is in>period.

I have a 2006 chevy Cobalt and in the first year I've had it I had encountered numerous problems. The first problem was that the radio that was installed started flashing and was not working whatsoever, an electrical issue. The next problem was the suspension after just 3 months of having it the shocks were worn out completely and had to get that fixed. Then just 1 month later my struts, tire rods, alignment, oil pressure sensor went to complete "s**t" so now I'm struggling with bills after having to fix most things on my car I haven't fixed all the problems since I'm low on money having to keep and keep fixing this car. Then to top it off just this morning going to work the "power steering"light pops up and I cant even turn my steering wheel, I turned it off and then it worked fine but I'm very scared it will keep happening especially when going down the highway. Please help.
The contact owns a 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt. The contact stated that the vehicle lunged forward and experienced violent shaking while driving 35 mph. The power steering warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and dealer, but the failure could not be replicated. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 87,000.
The driver side headlight stays dim. Check engine light keeps coming on with something different. Had two fuel pumps installed. The car last night had power but would not turn over or attempt to start. When driving at highway speeds the steering is loose, at low speeds power steering sometimes works. Loud popping in slow sharp turns. Just had it checked and new tires said suspension was great.
The contact owns a 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt. While driving 60 mph, the front passenger side axle fractured. The contact stated that the vehicle started to vibrate excessively. The contact was unable to control the vehicle, which caused the vehicle to veer off the road and crash into a ditch. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 202,000.
My head lights will not go off unless I unplug my battery, and my signal light won't go off the chavy dealer claims not to know what's going on with it unless I pay them $200 ,first. Its been about 30 days now that this has been going on.
2005 Chevrolet Cobalt. Consumer writes in regards to ignition switch recall notice. The consumer stated the first week of owning the vehicle, it would not start. When she called the dealer, the told her to move the steering wheel up and down and tap on the accelerator pedal. There were times through out the years, where the vehicle would not start. Also, the vehicle would pull to the left, the oil pan was leaking, the ignition switch was replaced, the left turn signal was inoperable, and the oxygen sensor was replaced.

I own a 2006 chevy Cobalt that yes is involved in the ignition switch recall. Just putting the key in the ignition I am sure helps a bit. But I have been checking the ignition position when I stop at lights and stop signs and a few times the key has slipped a little not enough to bounce it into the off position. But enough that if I did not push it back into position and I hit a bump it would have. However it has not been recalled in the steering column recall. I have for months off and on had a whining noise in the steering wheel and when it does this the car is hard to steer. On the way home from work the other day the steering wheel started to whine when I was turning onto the highway and steering got harder. When I hit the highway the warning light came on and car started to ding at me. I pulled over and turned car off for a minute and turned it back on and car was fine. When I got home I looked to see if there were other Cobalt owners having this issue. And there are hundreds of 2006 owners and even more for 2005 having the issue. That is when I found they were recalling cars for this issue but only 2010 Cobalt's which they had recalled in 2010 for the same issue. But the rest of us are not included in the recall but are having the same problem. There is also another problem with the 2006 Cobalt's front end. I brought my car in a couple months ago because it was making a banging noise in the front end. And found that the lower tie rods and the bearing were bad on both sides of the car. I again hit the internet to see if other owners where having this issue and I found again hundreds of 2006 Cobalt owners where having this same issue. And many of them stated that they contacted chevy to talk to them about the issue and they were told that it was not a safety issue so therefore chevy was not going to recall the car and fix the problem it was our issue.
My vehicle was making a loud noise I took it to the mechanic he said it was the tire rod end and bearing and it was the 3rd Cobalt with the exact same issue in a week that hed fixed he also said he couldnt see any reason for it in either car that those things usually dont just wear out. I asked him what might happen if I continued to drive it as is and he said the tire could come off while driving down the highway. Could you please check into this? thank you.
Brought 2007 Cobalt on 7/09/14. Reported the problem of the vehicle shutting- off on me and no inspection sticker was on the car 7/10/14. They wrote a work order out. Brought the vehicle to archer auto to get work performed and for a inspection sticker. Archer auto kept my 2007 Cobalt for 3 months. Until I called bbb business and filed a complaint. Archer auto said they fix my vehicle but didn't. Archer auto put a illegal inspection sticker on it to pass the emission test. Archer auto returned my vehicle. Then the power steering went out. Brought it to firestone to get fix. Then later found out there was a recall on the power steering. The 2007 Cobalt was shutting-off on me and losing all power. . Then I took it back because their was another recall on the vehicle. Then on 9/13/14 the engine shut-off on me. Losing all power , locking the brakes and power steering also. I ran into the back of a vehicle and totaled put the 2007 Cobalt.
Driving on 127 north toward lansing michigan at 75 miles per hour when the engine lost control causing the car to go no faster than 15 miles per hour on the highway. This is a safety risk to the driver as well as others. I have replaced the gas peddle sensor which did not correct the problem, next I will replace the throttle body. The codes can be reset to correct the problem temporary if you purchase a $300 dollar code reader. I have also had to replace the front bearings twice. On 2/16/2014 I hit a pot hole and knocked a bolt loose that holds the cars frame together so at this point the car is unsafe to drive. At least I'm hoping its loose and not broke. The car shakes terribly due to the frame bolt. This is a big safety concern.
Boltwell ever since we had gotten this chevey covolt we are having probes bad it is bad. Yes we got a warranty . So we take it back so they can fix it so they had it for a week. Well they called us to come get it well we did and they told us they couldn't fix it because they wouldn't make no profit off of it they did and. So they had a white truck out there with more miles. So we ask for it and they said they couldn't do it. And now the warranty went up yesterday so now we are stuck and it cost. Us to50 dollars a day to drive it costthirty miles . And use it to take my grandma back and forth to the clinic and it makes her very sick please help us get what we are paying for or what we wanted in the first place and that is a small truck we don't care it can be the same mileage and every thing and this place is a in bowie and it's lipscombs and I prefer not going back there if I can keep from it I recorded them telling us that and everything and I had all ready got the car and every thing you can tell what they checked to because it is still hanging from the car please contact me my grandma is 82 yrs old she has to make it to her appointments please.
Going out of driveway the front struts sound like they bottom out. Took to a certified mach. And struts were leaks oil and gas. Replaced them cost 559. 00 . I am having more problems with the back shocks I think when you go over a rough place in the road it sounds like the bottom is falling out. Can not afford to go back to mach. Now . No warrant left but can not get a hold of any one to talk to about this problem the place where I bought my car will not honor there previous customers because they went under a new owner. I need to know whom I can contact. I only have a little over 43,450 on my car.
I took my 2009 Chevrolet Cobalt 1lt sedan to the dealership from where I purchased it from today to get my vehicle inspected as required per my state. Prior to today, for about the past week or so, my check engine light came on. Went to autozone and they ran a diagnostic on it saying a cam shaft position sensor needed replacement. Replaced it and check engine light went away for about a week then came back on. (replaced both of the sensors to be safe) check engine light would turn off for days then randomly come on. Went to dealership and they stated I needed a new front right strut since mine's was leaking. Called up a few other mechanics and they have said this is a common issue with Cobalts. If you google "cobalt strut leaking", there are many results, yet no recall. This isn't just common in my vehicle's model year but with all Cobalts. I feel there should be a recall since this is common among this make/model.

I bought car used and wasn't told of recalls so I had car one wk before it just broke down. . . The steering colum is defective said the gm dealer but they said I'd have to pay out of pocket even though it is a factory installed part it being of poor quality has cause the steering gear to go bad and the half shaft that goes into transmission. . . If they know it's just a poorly designed steering column why aren't they being held responsible for the lack of responsibility as a car maker who know of this issue but they haven't been forced to offer a recall on the steering column. . . . Instead they expect the consumer to pay for their total lack of safety!!!! what am I suppose to do with a car that's unsafe to drive and my only car??? not to mention after the recall on electric power steering they just put in has gone bad due to the steering gear & bad steering column . . .
On my way home from work in heavy traffic in indianapolis, someone in front of me hit their brakes hard. As a result, I also had to slam on my brakes. When I did so, my rear end spun out. I lost power steering. I crashed head first into the concrete median. However, the airbag did not deploy. Luckily, I escaped severe injury; although the wreck, the resulting loss of power steering, and the fact that the airbag did not deploy were directly due to the negligence of general motors.
I noticed a slight tapping/rattling noise coming from the front driver side. The noise only occurs between the speeds of 50-60 mph and only when letting off the gas completely. Then I received in the mail an ignition cylinder recall. My car had problems with locking up and difficulties turning the key. So I took the car to the dealership told them about the noise I was hearing then waited a week with no call from the dealership so I called them. They told me my car would be finished by noon, I arrived at 4 pm. They then told me my car was not yet finished. The dealership had not even put in the new ignition cylinder even after a week. I was told the noise could not be replicated. I waited for the ignition to be put in (about 30 mins) then took one of the dealership mechanics on a test drive to hear the noise. Noise was heard and took it back to the shop. Checked under the car and nothing wrong could be found. The lead mechanic took it for a test drive but due to the heavy downpour of rain nothing was heard. I was asked to bring the car back on Monday due to possible severity of the situation. Dropped the car back off at the dealership Monday. A test drive and a look under the car and they found the problem, noise coming from rack and pinion while hitting bumps rack worn and needs replacement steering column making noise as well recommend replacement with out replacement the car would eventually have no steering ability at all: cost $1524 no warranty. This car has had the power steering recall replacement (the steering wheel suddenly stopped working while in a parking lot due to broken pinion) in 2010 and a transmission issue (rpm rev when the car hit 40 when the gas was not being applied) that was a worn seal it was fixed and covered by warranty in 2011. This would be the twice now with no steering ability only its a different cause? I feel like I'm being cheated.
Car is pulling to the left and had car alignment done and new tires put on. Still pulling to the left and hear rattling noise in the steering column when turning to the left and when speed at 50 mph. It also rattles when I slow down to stop. This is not safe for me or my family. This should be recalled immediately. Took car to mechanic diagnosis is the steering column. Production error. I am not going to be paying high cost for something that should be recalled and fault of a production error.
Continued noise from front end when driving- right and left struts, bearing plates mounts, shields and bumper boots were replaced - the struts were leaking fluid front end alignment was also done I am now having the same identical problem ( oil is leaking and covering the strut ) at this time date 10/2013. This is not normal - my current mileage is 37,802.
Have been told various times I need new struts and shocks. I think this is ridiculous seeing as though I have do not have many miles on my car and the year of my car. Dealerships have told me that it does not make sense that a car a 2006 and with low miles on it should need shocks and struts right now. I have had nothing but problems with this car since I paid it off. Wheel baring, shocks struts, problems getting key out of ignition, headlights and tail lights leaking water into it, slve cylinder and master cylinder, fuel pump. I will never buy a chevy again!.
2006 Chevrolet Cobalt. Consumer states several issues with vehicle related to recalls the consumer stated there was a smell of gasoline inside the vehicle, five sensors were bad, there was a problem with the fuel pump and fuel injection system. The rpm's jumped, when the vehicle was in cruise control mode, the cruise control would shut off for no reason. The consumer had a difficult time starting the vehicle, after she filled the tank, the vehicle would steer to the left, and there were times when the vehicle would jump out of gear.
I bought the car in November of 2011. Nit even 3 months later, a very loud. Clunky noise started every time I go over a bump no matter how big or small. I've been to multiple mechanics and have been told my sway. Bar links, as well as my outer tie rod ends are bad. Then another said it was my bushings. I just want the noise to stop and want to know why is the car sound like its falling apart? very dissapointed with Chevrolet for. Not the best 1st car.
Airbag : warning intermittently comes on. . Then resets on the next ignition start. Then will reappear again. Suspension: severe clunking in front end only when turning or maneuvering . This vehicle has done 46k miles total.
Vehicle is making weird front end noises, knocking, rattles, shakes in the steering column, vibrations when driving on the driver side behind the steering wheel and in the floor, tires are making a noise whn driving like something is hanging.
The contact owns a 2005 Chevrolet Cobalt. The contact stated that while driving approximately 45 mph, the steering began to vibrate violently. The failure recurred whenever the vehicle was driven on normal or uneven road surfaces. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer and an independent mechanic numerous times for the failure. The repairs performed on the vehicle consisted of the replacement of the entire front suspension, excluding the steering column and rack and pinion. The failure continued to occur after the repairs were performed. The manufacturer was notified of the defect. The approximate failure mileage was 90,000.
I was driving down the road and heard a clunk on the right front passenger side in the wheel area. Took it to the mechanic and he said the suspension needed replaced and that it was actually punctured up in the very top of the suspension. As of yet I havent gotten it replaced as I was waiting to get it all done when the car gets inspected along with new tires and an alignment. After reading other complaints chevy needs to recall the 2007 cobolt and fix it. I also have only back speakers that work for the radio and the electric locks mechanism on the drivers side for passenger door has never worked since I got it after numerous attempted repairs at auto dealership. Would never buy another chevy. Going to a foreign auto maker for next purchase.
Complaint against general motors (gm) for not making necessary repairs on his 2007 Cobalt the consumer stated the lower control bushings need to be replaced.
The contact owns a 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt. The contact stated the front suspension caused the two front tires to be worn. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who performed an alignment but the vehicle continued to pull to the left. The manufacturer was notified and offered no assistance. The failure mileage was 15,000 and the current mileage was 26,000.
The car has been in the shop so many times for the same thing. When you drive at times, the car sputters and dies out and runs rough. It overheats and then the mechanic cant find the problem or anything wrong but I have to pay to have it looked at. My cousin bought a 2009 Cobalt and her car has the same problems of dying out. The car is always in the shop because everything breaks down. I still owe on the car and its a money pit. A mechanic said my frame is bent. I haven't been in an accident. I am stuck with a lemon and its squeezing me.
