The power steering warning indicator light up. Message :( service power steering -drive with care ) we were able to coast to the side of the road and power off engine then restart. The manufacture has been notified three times, last year and this year. Per gm there's nothing it can be done to fix the problem because it doesn't show any code. We took the vehicle to penske Chevrolet multiple times and we always get the same answer, there's nothing wrong, they check and no diagnostic code show on the computer. They only did an upgrade, but that didn't solve the problem.
While driving the trac control and power steering lights came on the dash immediately followed by a loss of power steering. The vehicle was extremely difficult to turn creating a very serious safety situation. It was pulled over to the side of the road and restarted. The power steering came back on. Chevy service says the gear steering box needs replaced at a cost of almost $2000. There is a recall for this same issue but my vehicle is not included because it was built 2 months before the recall date, several others are reporting the same issue on these new trucks coming off the assembly line just prior to the recall date of January 6, 2015. I'm not sure what gm changed that the first few thousand trucks produced in late 2014 are not part of the recall. Same issue, very serious safety issue, new truck, and the customer is expected to pay the $2000 to fix it. I wish gm would consider extending the recall to the original 2015 Colorado's that first came off the assembly line. It is obviously a problem!.
