Roof caves in going through car wash due to thin roof panel general motors issued a technical service bullitin for it the fix did not work the roof dented again directly afterwards I have an open case with gm for it they are attempting to come up with a fix for it but nothing yet this has been going on for 10 months now and now I am hearing they will do nothing about it until the NHTSA issues a recall I believe this could be a serious safety issue in a roll over accident the roof structure is inadequate.

The body is defective in keeping water out of the cab. Water intrusion into cab causing moisture build-up and damaging interior and electrical components. My safety is at risk due to the electrical components in the cab that run the vehicle could cause electrocution or cause the vehicle to fail while in use. No they have not reproduced the problem. Yes, gm collision center and service center (three separate times) have seen the vehicle and the video of the leak. I informed them of the tsb5396 of the known manufacturer defect issue. No warning, problem was first noticed in may 2023. I found my interior completely soaked one morning. I have waterproof marathon seat covers and they are soaked thru to the seats. Checked all windows to make sure they were up and the door seals were shut, everything was closed. Assumed that it was a fluke, followed up by checking the next morning and found the headliner dripping along with a soaked interior again. With the electrical seats and all the electronics in the dash I am concerned about that much water and moisture being in the cab might electrocute me or cause malfunction while driving. Besides the fact that moisture causes rust, mold and mildew that are dangerous to your health to breathe in.

What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? water intrusion to the cab of the truck has structural failure in the roof causing it to leak inside the cab. Leak runs into dash and out of ignition causing electrical issues in the dash and ignition, along with pooling on the floorboards causing rusting; runs into the rear 3rd brake light and rear headliner causing electrical concerns to the rear brake light not alerting of braking and leaks into rear seats causing rusting under the seats where the seats can fall through the floorboards. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? rear brake light failure to alert surrounding drivers of braking. Possible electrocution in starting the vehicle with water in the ignition and dash; possible passenger/driver being dropped through the floorboards while driving. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? unknown has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? I have had it looked at by mechanics and told it was a body issue and needed to go to a body shop, not the dealership. Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? no.
My truck bed is resting against my cab due to frame rot. There is big chunks missing from the frame.
Purchased truck sept 30th, 2022. I drive home from the dealership that evening during a heavy rainstorm. Two days later I went to remove front passenger floor mat to put in all weather mats I noticed the carpet floor mat was damp and underneath the mat was wet. I felt the water direction towards the front tire wall area. Truck is back at dealership to determine cause.
Mechanic had the truck on the lift raised up to check the brakes for squeaking and while under the truck the mechanic inspected the frame because he noticed a lot of rust and called me to come look at it and pointed out that the frame has rotted to the point that he should not be driven and could break in half and cause major problems for the safety of the occupants and other drivers on the road. I looked up online if other Colorado owners had the same issue and others have the same problem. I’m am forced to junk this vehicle even though the rest of the truck is in very good condition.
I was checking on the common rear cab rust and noticed the frame looked rusted through just in front of the rear wheel suspension mount. I took it to my local mechanic (bob's repair of mayer) and they said it was not safe to drive. It is a complete blindside to me and now I have to find a spare (safe) car to help drive around my newborn and toddler. I am going to attempt to repair the frame as I do not have any other options for vehicles. There were obviously no warnings are notices that about this issue, but it seems to be uncannily common for this generation of Chevrolet vehicles. The truck only has 160,000 miles on it and surface rust on the cab. The vehicle is not drivable and not safe as the frame could give away at any moment.

Vehicle has 96,800 miles, and the frame has completely rusted through causing the rear suspension to detach from the frame, as well as the bed to detach from the frame. Vehicle is no longer able to be put on lift to have tires rotated as the frame disintegrates upon contact. This is a very well known problem, and I am curious why the federal government has not forced gm to recall these vehicles like Toyota was forced to do with their identical situation. Do your jobs, and hold these corporations accountable for cheap workmanship.
2004 chevy Colorado the whole frame underneath is rotted out and unsafe. I don't have money or income or credit to get a new vehicle. I want to know how chevy could allow such a tragic mistake on the metal used for this vehicle? I am not the only person who has had this issue with the frames on these vehicle?. It is all I have to drive and I am putting chevy under warning!, this is a defect in the metal you have used. If anything happens to me or anyone else they are to sue chevy. This is not a problem not caused by buyer. This is caused by cheap metals for vehicle. This is my first supposedly made in USA vehicle and now it has left a bad taste in my mouth. I am not going to be held responsible for your defect. I am not the only one with this problem. It needs to be taken care of ASAP.
The frame under the cab is rusted out.
We purchased a new truck and were shocked to see the lack of basic safety features. We are having a hard time getting in it because of a lack of step bar and grab handle on the driver side. The emergency brake pedal is in the wrong spot and trips us. The cruise light cannot be seen while driving. There is a lack of shielding in the wheel wells exposing the engine and exhaust. It is fully exposed all along the bottom (no shields as normal). The fuel system doesn't lock and is vulnerable to tampering. The interior materials are all extremely cheap and the a/c is very weak. The transmission shifts weirdly at times which is scary. You cannot adjust the mirrors because they are manual and unsafe while driving. We are shocked at 26k gets us a new vehicle that has so many omissions on it - it should not be permitted when so many standard safety expectations are unmet.

For a while now, my truck has been aggressively shaking when I hit highway speeds so I've spent money getting balances and alignments and tires to try and fix the issue, but nothing works. I've also been having acceleration issues, but when I take it to a shop to be looked at, nobody can find the problem. Then a few days ago, I was on the highway doing around 65 or so in the rain and it did its usual shaking. I lost control, the truck spun out and hit the wall. The cop came and asked if my truck had been doing any shaking. I told him yes. . . I came home and my family asked if it had been shaking as well. I asked why everyone was mentioning the truck shaking. They told me about the chevy recalls. So I'm reaching out bc I've been trying to figure out and paying money to fix the shaking issues and the accelerator issues with no success and now I've been in a wreck and could've lost my life. I only hurt my foot and my girlfriend was cut and burned by airbags. I need help. Please.

Frame is rotted through, and now unable to pass inspection.
Tl the contact owns a 2005 Chevrolet Colorado. The contact stated that the power steering fluid was leaking. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who noticed that the frame was corroded through and was fractured between the bed and cab. The vehicle was repaired. The contact called spritzer Chevrolet amherst (200 n leavitt rd, amherst, OH 44001, (440) 703-6350) and was referred to the manufacturer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and did not assist. The failure mileage was approximately 91,000.
I was turning into an apartment complex parking lot in noted vehicle when the vehicle suddenly accelerated sending me into the side of the apartment building. I was in the process of applying the brake when this occurred. There was no time to react or avoid the side of building and I incurred damage to both my vehicle and the side of the building.
Tl the contact owns a 2004 Chevrolet Colorado. While the vehicle was at an independent mechanic for routine maintenance, the mechanic found that the frame was severely corroded and the corrosion extended to the vehicle's side wall. The mechanic stated that the vehicle was unsafe to be driven. The manfuacturer and dealer were not contacted. The approximate failure mileage was 140,000.
I took my 2006 Colorado in for an oil change and the shop called me back and said that my frame was cracked. Come to find out it wasn't cracked but it had a giant hole along the bottom side of the driver side frame rail. I took the truck to a guy that is very knowledgeable and he said it looked just like a Toyota frame. So now I'm going to have to total this truck because it is unsafe to drive and it only has 102000 miles on it. Gm needs to issue a recall for these frames before someone gets killed.
Vehicle sat idle for a few years before my ownership, then was in constant motion on highways and city streets for 2 years in my possession. Unsure how an 11 year old vehicle could have this happen, but at some point the vehicle developed 2 large cracks in the frame (one on the drive side and one of the passenger side, both just behind the doors of their respective sides of the vehicle) causing the bed of the truck to lean into the cab of the truck. Pictures included in this post are of the bed leaning into the can, and one picture at the worst visible angle of the crack on each side of the vehicle's frame.
I had a car accident head on and my air bag did not go off I'm at the hospital but wonder why they did not go off vehicle was in motion going forty miles a hour rear end truck and air bag did not go off m59 and airport rd waterford mi.

My vehicle failed state inspection due to excessive rust resulting in holes in the frame cross member. The rust and holes compromised the vehicle so badly that it could have easily broken apart and cause catastrophic loss of control. I think that the frames for some Colorado were manufactured with steel that was not up to specification, more precisely the steels chemical content was incorrect. This caused the frame to deteriorate to the point of catastrophic failure. From what I gleaned from the internet model years 2004 ,2005, and 2006 were affected by this defect.
Upper control arm, right hand side, went bad and needed replacement in under 20,000 miles. Detected with a clunking noise, and confirmed when I went in for alignment. It was replaced before it broke, but a broken control arm is a major safety risk.
The contact owns a 2004 Chevrolet Colorado the contact stated that while looking at the vehicle noticed that the frame/undercarriage was rusted. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who stated that the torque box left and right frame rail needed to be replaced the local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 189,000. Ap.
2006 Chevrolet Colorado extended cab 4x4 with only 115k miles on it has a frame that is completely rusted out and snapped on the driver side just before the leaf spring while driving over a speed bump on a local municipal roadway.
Tl the contact owns a 2004 Chevrolet Colorado. The contact discovered that the undercarriage of the vehicle was severely corroded. The contact expressed concern that the corrosion centered around the suspension and subframe spring mounts. The vehicle was not taken to be diagnosed by a dealer or independent mechanic. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 134,000.

The entire frame has rotted out. It has broken as a result and is beyond repair. The rest of the truck is in prime condition. The rear end of the truck is in danger of falling off at any given moment.
In cold weather rear doors very hard to latch. The back doors latch but stay ajar with warning light on and are loose. The front doors latch into this particular set up. This is an extended cab not a four door. Without latching properly, front doors may pop open creating a possible risk of injury or death. This will happen when vehicle stationary but may be driven with doors not secured.
Tl the contact owns a 2018 Chevrolet Colorado. The contact stated that the driver and passenger sides of the fender wheel/cargo bed were buckling and rippling. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to all american Chevrolet of san angelo (203 north bryant blvd, san angelo, TX 76903, 844-342-6320), but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and provided case number: 95019035528. No further assistance was provided. The failure mileage was 69,000.
