1 Other Fuel System problem of the 2016 Chevrolet Colorado

Failure Date: 03/21/2026

While driving my family home on a hot 90+ degree day. My 2016 chevy Colorado suddenly has a power loss engine died and I went from 75 to parked in less than 30 seconds. Luckily I was able to pull off the freeway to the median. We were almost hit by two vehicles pulling a trailer and the other pulling a RV. I had to have someone pick my kids up due to the hazards of being stranded on the side of the freeway. We had to have the truck towed. The code we got was for a fuel pump control module. We replaced and had it programed. This did not fix the issue. After further diagnostics from a auto mechanic shop, which we had to pay out of pocket. We learned it was a lifter failure. I have see numerous forums and people sighting "lifter failure" in chevy vehicles. Where most of us owners have to cover all cost out of pocket. Yet still "no recall" for this issue that seems to be worth a recall. Next issue the speed sensor which we have replaced it 3 times now in less than 2 years.

3 Other Fuel System problem of the 2019 Chevrolet Colorado

Failure Date: 02/25/2026

In and out of the shop for the last 3. 5 years (warranty is expired now) with multiple engin codes (cel). Most having to do with the fuel delivery systems. Most common p026d, and p1089. It has been in the shop at least 6 or more times. Gm won't stand by their product. Since the warranty ended I've put mor than $4,000 in to repairs for this and now I'm told it will cost me anouther $6000 to $7000 to repair. I bout this truck used with 60,000 miles on it and paid cash $50,000 to the dealer the originally sold it to the previous owner. I just want them to fix the issue once and for all. To date they have just thrown parts at it but it never fixes the problem. They have changed the map sensor, the fuel rail and pressure regulator, the injectors, and they've re-wired part of the wiring harness. None of this has solved the issues.

6 Other Fuel System problem of the 2023 Chevrolet Colorado

Failure Date: 12/11/2025

Vehicle: 2023 Chevrolet Colorado crew cab 4wd, VIN: [xxx] , mileage: 52,877. Recurrent failure in the cooling system and engine/transmission, affecting safety and use. Check engine light comes on and off intermittently, code p30c5 (coolant flow low). The coolant pump was replaced under warranty on March 20, 2025, at leson Chevrolet (harvey, la) with 26,621 miles (attached invoice), but the same issue persists 9 months later with "engine and transmission system" alert in mychevrolet app. This is the 5th failed repair for the same defect since purchase (August 2023). Previous repairs include transmission wiring/sensor (January 2024) and traction control/abs (December 2023). The vehicle is unsafe for daily 100-mile commute. Request investigation for potential recall. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

7 Other Fuel System problem of the 2017 Chevrolet Colorado

Failure Date: 11/10/2025

2017 Chevrolet Colorado pickup with 58,000 miles. Check engine light came on. Scanner reading by a repair shop indicated a evap issue. I declined the $1200 repair estimate. I paid for diagnosis of problem $200. I repaired the system by "cleaning 2 filters at the beginning of the fuel tank ventilation system. The "primary filter and hose are located in a especially dusty area on the pickup truck and is prong to plugging if regularly driven on rural gravel roads. Nothing in the owner's manual indicates the service is required of this filter. Filter should be relocated to engine bay. Check engine light was reset and has not come back on. Note: this is part of the pollution equipment that stopped working properly before 10yr. Or 100,00 miles.

8 Other Fuel System problem of the 2018 Chevrolet Colorado

Failure Date: 10/20/2025

All the sensors seem to not be functioning correctly. Doesn't tell me the right measurements for the wheels, gas, over heating. Right front passenger door locks/unlocks when it wants. It chokes up when trying to accelerate. Theres a rattling noise that comes from under the car. First time I took it to the dealership, they stated it was a bolt that had come loose on the exhaust pipe. They placed a new one which lasted a year and a half and now its back to making the noise. I took it again to the dealership, this time they claimed they couldn't find anything. My airbag sensor keeps coming on constantly. My fuel sensor claims 116 miles one moments and 5 or 6 minutes later, it says I have 50 miles. My car was over heating and low on anti-freeze, the car never notified it was over heating.

9 Other Fuel System problem of the 2016 Chevrolet Colorado

Failure Date: 10/03/2025

On October 3, 2025 the driver of the 2016 chevy Colorado we own, left our house and drove . 5 miles where he stopped for a red light. The light turned green and he accelerated to make a left turn. At that time, the gas gauge dropped to "e", the truck engine turned off, and gas emptied from the gas tank. The driver managed to coast the truck onto the curb and out of traffic. The gas smell was overpowering. This could have ended badly in many ways. Had he been driving on interstate, he would have been trapped, and any spark could have ignited the truck. Even the tow truck driver knew there was a gas leak without even examining the truck. The truck was towed to our house until arrangements were made tor the repair. The truck was towed again to the chevy dealership (total tow charges $344. 85 invoices not available at this time). The repair shop found both the fuel pump and fuel feed cracked allowing gas to spew out. The VIN number was searched for the NHTSA recall number 18v-358 and the chevy recall number 18188 and was not found. There were no warnings of the impending failure and no one was injured due to the failure. The vehicle repair was completed on October 15, 2025. Removed parts are available for inspection. We contend that the problem is related to the recall for the fuel pump in above recall numbers.

10 Other Fuel System problem of the 2017 Chevrolet Colorado

Failure Date: 10/01/2025

Fuel leak. Engine stop the truck, smell of fuel in the cabin, the truck is using diesel. This started in ictober, technician told me it’s the gas pump. Still the smell in the cabin and now lights on dashboard alerting failure in the system,.

13 Other Fuel System problem of the 2012 Chevrolet Colorado

Failure Date: 06/20/2025

Regarding a fuel leak on my 2012 Chevrolet Colorado wt, caused by severe corrosion of the in-tank fuel pump module. This issue is of great concern, as it poses a potential fire hazard due to fuel spray near the exhaust system. Upon reviewing official documentation, I found that recall 17v-243 appears to address a similar defect affecting 2004–2012 Colorado and canyon models with corrosion-prone fuel tank assemblies and retaining rings. However, my VIN does not currently show as part of that recall on NHTSA. Gov. The only warning sign of a problem per gm protocol is detecting the odor of gasoline around the vehicle. The truck has not been inspected by gm, police, insurance, or anyone except myself. I have attached a video showing the leak.

I cuts out and shuts off driving in a parking lot at 10 miles an hr and while driving on the freeway going 65. Started 6 months ago but has gotten worse. The computer system on dash goes black and will start randomly changing stations, or freeze and now it's changing on the steering column and engine light is on.

15 Other Fuel System problem of the 2023 Chevrolet Colorado

Failure Date: 02/13/2025

I was driving down the highway going about 75mph in the left lane. The engine quickly started going down through the gears as the engine was shutting down. I was able to get it to the right side in very heavy traffic. I had to be towed. It took a 5 day repair and replacement of the fuel pump power control module. Warranty.

16 Other Fuel System problem of the 2018 Chevrolet Colorado

Failure Date: 01/26/2025

Fuel system leak and yes, it is available for inspection. My safety was at risk while I was driving the truck and smelled a very strong odor of gasoline enter the cab of the truck while I was driving with the windows rolled up. I immediately stopped the truck and got out and noticed flames coming out from underneath the bed in front of the left rear wheel, then the gas tank ignited shooting flames out like a flame thrower. The fire dept and the insurance company inspected it, and it was deemed a total loss. There were no warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms of a problem prior to the fire. Here is what I found on the internet about this truck on the internet. The 2018 Chevrolet Colorado had one recall for a high-pressure fuel pump that could detach from its mounting flange. The recall began on July 2, 2018. What was the recall for? •the high-pressure fuel pump could detach from its mounting flange •the pump could damage the high-pressure fuel line what was the recall number? •the national highway traffic safety administration (NHTSA) number for the recall was 18v-358 what did gm do to fix the issue? •gm notified owners and dealers replaced the high-pressure fuel pump and high-pressure fuel pipe for free how can you check if your vehicle is affected? •you can check your vehicle for open recalls oinputting your vehicle identification number (VIN) at asburyauto. 17 Other Fuel System problem of the 2023 Chevrolet Colorado

Failure Date: 12/13/2024

Fuel mileage is way lower then it should be I get 13. 1 mpg and already had to replace one fuel injector.

18 Other Fuel System problem of the 2019 Chevrolet Colorado

Failure Date: 11/12/2024

I purchased my 2019 chevy Colorado z71 new in Feb 2019 from a dealership. About two years ago I began having shifting issues from 1st to 2nd gear, it would shudder and seem almost stuck, this would only occur infrequently. Right after I hit 100,000 miles (about a year ago) I have had nothing but issues with the 8 speed transmission, my vehicle is unable to shift from 1st to 2nd without having the shudder occur, it feels like the whole truck is shaking and loses power at acceleration. I took it in for their recommended "service bulletin" which was something that I had to locate myself because gm has not once communicated about there being any kind of shudder issue and they performed a simple flush of the transmission, not the service bulletin recommendation of three flushes and a different fluid. My truck is now in the shop because I am unable to drive it due to this ongoing issue that gm fails to recognize and so far have spent $1,000 attempting to rectify this issue and being told that in order for them to actually perform the service bulletin, it will be another $225 to diagnose the problem, around $500-$700 to perform the service bulletin, and then if that "does not fix the problem", I will have to spend another $900 on a torque converter because that "could" be the issue, the dealership "doesn't know". Then the third fix would be to replace the transmission ($5500-$8500) this has been a known issue since manufacturing and gm is failing to provide adequate assistance to fix a known problem with their 8 speed transmissions. I no longer feel safe to operate my chevy Colorado in fear that it could cause serious injury to myself and others due to gm not being able to provide a safe fix to their ongoing issue.

19 Other Fuel System problem of the 2020 Chevrolet Colorado

Failure Date: 07/24/2024

The oil cooler lines are rusting and leaking. Seems to be a common issue going back 9 years since they started making these new Colorados from information I found online. Totally unacceptable for a truck to that is 4 years old to be rotting out. One of the lines is a nightmare to replace because of where it is inserted into the motor. Mechanic had to remove the front differential, axle, ac compressor, drive shaft, fuse box, and intake to replace a 60$ oil line.

20 Other Fuel System problem of the 2018 Chevrolet Colorado

Failure Date: 07/22/2024

I detected the smell of fuel while the vehicle when it was both not running and running. I brought the truck to banks Chevrolet in concord nh. The high pressure fuel pump detached from its mounting flange, resulting in damage to the attaching high pressure fuel pipe causing a constant fuel leak. Dealer replaced the high pressure fuel pump and high pressure fuel pipe to resolve the concern. There is a NHTSA recall that my vehicle should have been included in, 18v358000. The gm recall number is 18188. I paid out of pocket (~$1500) to fix this safety issue when it should have been fixed initially with the recall.

21 Other Fuel System problem of the 2017 Chevrolet Colorado

Failure Date: 05/05/2024

Fuel leak in line. There is a pin hole in the line spewing fuel under pressure when running. The fuel flows down the side of the tank as I reported in complaint number 11587383 on may 7th, 2024. Now I have removed the bed to discover said leak. Adding picture of the leak spewing fuel from line, by "p e" lettering on the line this is a major concern as any flame near the vehicle would cause it to go up in flames. The manufacturer should correct this problem. I see no reason why this hard plastic pipe developed a hole. It is product defect.

22 Other Fuel System problem of the 2017 Chevrolet Colorado

Failure Date: 05/05/2024

* smell gas and discover leaking down driver side of fuel tank after parking, so something on top. Maybe fuel pump or ?. It is available for inspection. *fuel puddle under vehicle in parking lot. *have not contacted dealer, just noticed and found lots of others with same issue online with the chevy Colorado and GMC canyon. *I am the only one who has inspected to date. Warning of any kinds, except stepping out of truck and heavy gas smell, and seeing a shine of color in the rain water going to parking lot drain.

23 Other Fuel System problem of the 2019 Chevrolet Colorado

Failure Date: 05/01/2024

The bolts that secure the high pressure fuel pump to the engine head broke apart causing the vehicle to lose power and leak gasoline.

24 Other Fuel System problem of the 2019 Chevrolet Colorado

Failure Date: 03/24/2024

The high pressure fuel pump detached from engine and snapped off flange and bolt in the head of engine . The part is available for inspection and was removed by dealership. Vehicle was being driven at highway speed at time of failure. Narrowly avoided an accident as truck lost power and went into limp mode. There was no prior warning leading up to failure.

25 Other Fuel System problem of the 2019 Chevrolet Colorado

Failure Date: 03/20/2024

While driving the vehicle lost power, would not go over 15 mph. There was a loud rattling noise from the engine. Check engine light came on. Loss of power and speed prevented me from keeping up with traffic. Had vehicle towed to Chevrolet dealership was told high pressure fuel pump mounting bolts had broken and fuel pump was loose. Dealer replace fuel pump and one fuel pipe (part #12627128). I paid full price repair ($ 1,775. 21) and contacted Chevrolet to see if they would offer any assistance I was under the power-train mileage but over on time. They offered and I accepted 50% of the repair cost but no towing. After some research I discovered there was a recall (18v358000) for an erlier model for a similar problem . The recall was for the fuel pump separating from the base which could damage the fuel line and create a fire hazard. In my case the entire pump came loose which leads to the same result as the pump separating from the mounting plate.

26 Other Fuel System problem of the 2019 Chevrolet Colorado

Failure Date: 02/02/2024

This truck has roughly 41000 miles on it. As I was driving home from work on [xxx], I heard a faint noise and then my truck just lost power and died on the freeway. There were no engine warning lights on and did not want to restart and stay running. After a few times of starting and dying the message on the dash said keep driving engine is in regen. This is a diesel truck and the newer ones have a regeneration that is done with def. I was unable to get it off onto the exit, but did get it off the roadway. The vehicle was towed into the shop on February 3rd, 2024. The shop had to order parts and said that it was just a faulty part. I received the truck back on March 14th. I drove it home from the shop and to work for two days putting roughly 100 miles on the truck. On my way home on [xxx] , the truck died again with no warning at all. Same symptoms, just no power and no warning. The truck was towed back to the shop where it still sits today. The problem is there is an issue with this thing dying without any warning at all. The dealer and Chevrolet techs have been unsuccessful in finding the problem. It has been almost 6 months in the shop with literally no idea of what is wrong. I feel this is a serious safety issue that could leave people or families stranded without any warning or idea of how to repair. I feel this should be investigated and brought to someone's attention. I have contacted Chevrolet, but unfortunately they have left everything up to the dealership. The dealer is auburn Chevrolet in auburn, wa. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

29 Other Fuel System problem of the 2023 Chevrolet Colorado

Failure Date: 08/15/2023

Vehicle fuel fill back flows everything and vehicle's not full splashing gasoline on the vehicle and the ground which could cause an explosion also. The tank will not be full with fuel range on the dash ranging from 440 to 519. 519 is the full range. The vehicle has been back to dealership service department several times (4) with no resolution. The information screen on the dash has gone blank several times requiring it to go back to the dealership. There had been several message on the screen unrelated to the items listed. The accident avoidance system has locked the front brakes up at both 35 mph and 65 mph several times without a vehicle directly in front and without warning. The unexpected braking causes an abrupt stop and unexpected by the driver behind my vehicle potentially causing a rear end collision.

31 Other Fuel System problem of the 2018 Chevrolet Colorado

Failure Date: 05/01/2023

I along with other people who own this model of truck with the diesel engine around 60,000 to 70,000 miles have part number 55488542 which is the fuel feed line that rubs up against the ac line and starts to leak fuel. . Read more...

32 Other Fuel System problem of the 2022 Chevrolet Colorado

Failure Date: 03/08/2023

Fuel guage will not move until there is about 200 miles after filling up. When filling up at the 320 miles the pump will shut off at 10 gals. The miles to empty will show that I can go anywhere from 400 to 500 miles. (this is impossible) this also does not match with the fuel gauge reads. Have taken this to the chevy dealer and they could not find anything wrong. It passed the sweep test and they drove it for about 200 miles and stated there was nothing wrong. Vehicle has 19000 miles. First time this happened was when it was at around 10000 miles. Issue is that I don't know and can't drive this very far due to not knowing how much fuel I have used. I have to rely on my phone gps to track how far I have driven and bounce it off of what is on the miles driven display. This has been going on for the last year.
