36 Other Fuel System problem of the 2016 Chevrolet Colorado

Failure Date: 10/17/2022

Yes I am filing a complaint due to my high-pressure fuel pump line and also the fuel pump. The fuel pump works but it is very dry rotted on the top therefore resulting in a lot of cracks and pressure loss. I have a 2016 chevy Colorado four-door. When I go to look up recalls there is recalls on the 2016 to 2018 chevy Colorado’s due to this exact problem. But when I call dell earnhardt Chevrolet in tallahassee florida they state that it does not include my VIN number. I think it’s kind of funny that my truck is having this exact issue but not this phone number please obviously the recall needs to be expanded to include my VIN numbers. Anyway it goes I have a 2016 chevy Colorado that I paid cash money for and there is no way should my fuel pump be dry rotted and cracked like it is and the fuel pump is still in working condition. What led me to this diagnosis was I was driving down the highway when multiple times my vehicle jaunted to a halt. I was able to crank it back up and go a few more miles before it would happen again. At this point I took it to my mechanic to put it on a code reader and it was reading fuel pump modular. I cut a hole in the bed of my truck and was able to save fuel spraying everywhere for my high-pressure fuel pump line. I ordered this line from dale earnhardt Chevrolet for $62. When we get there and put the line on the fuel pump it is the fuel pump nipple and the top of the fuel pump is extremely dry rotted and cracked. There is no way should the fuel pump be dry rotted and crack on a six year old vehicle. Like I said the light never came on till after a few times of shouting me to a halt and this is my complaint.

37 Other Fuel System problem of the 2015 Chevrolet Colorado

Failure Date: 09/05/2022

Beginning in 2018, perhaps earlier, I noticed that often when I would press the accelerator all the way, the engine would (and still does) make a sound (I’ve since learned, through many dealership interactions and internet searches, that the sound is referred as pinging or knocking from pre-detonation), and it seemed that the car’s computer would (and still does) electronically back off the throttle, and the rpm’s reduced in terms of speed of acceleration (sometimes the rpm’s even decreased as opposed to merely increasing less rapidly). This has placed myself and passengers of the car in danger by causing the car to go through intersections significantly slower than I (as well as my mother who also occasionally drives the car) would naturally anticipate, as this slow crossing through the intersection has led to many close-calls when intersecting traffic (when they have the right-of-way) almost crash into the broad side of the truck. It used to occur I would put in any fuel with an octane rating lower than 91, but now it even happens with 91 octane fuel. The problem has been reproduced by two Chevrolet dealerships. I have taken it in many times to have them repair/replace/service parts that I thought might be causing the problem. The shop foreman at one location replicated it and said he had no idea what the cause could be. The service dept. Was then in back-and-forth contact with engineers at gm over the next couple of days, and the engineers eventually suggested an oil system flush thing (which ended up not helping). It’s had oil filter changes, fuel induction service, and basically everything short of replacing the injectors or pistons. Neither the vehicle nor its components have been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others. No warning lamps or messages have ever displayed in relation to the problem. My CO-worker’s husband has a 2018 GMC canyon with a v6, and says the exact same thing happens with his car.

38 Other Fuel System problem of the 2017 Chevrolet Colorado

Failure Date: 08/13/2022

Recently I had a strong gasoline smell and leak coming from the vehicle. I took my truck in for inspection, and the mechanic said the fuel pump was damaged. The mechanic took a picture of the damaged fuel pump and could not explain how this part was destroyed in this way. I was charged $639 for the repairs. Since I am currently financing the vehicle, I researched to see if this particular make and model had any recalls. Upon discovery, it happens that in 2018 there was a recall that a high-pressure fuel pump may detach from its mounting flange, possibly resulting in the pump damaging the high-pressure fuel line. I phoned the manufacturer, and they said there was a recall for this issue for specific 2017 models but not for my truck's VIN. Since my vehicle has the same problem mentioned in the recall, I would like an investigation and possible recall on this model and VIN since others may have this same problem. In my opinion, Chevrolet should reimburse me in full for damages that could have taken my family, my life, or any other motorist due to the gasoline leakage and damage to the fuel.

39 Other Fuel System problem of the 2015 Chevrolet Colorado

Failure Date: 03/06/2022

Just purchased vehicle in early March of this year(2022). Vehicle has low mileage for a 2015. But first problem is an air or evap problem that seems to be a large problem with other owners as well. Unable to fill vehicle with fuel pump nosil without it splashing out of vehicle. Came out on my shoe the first time!!you have to let it trickle into tank to get gas in it. Had it at dealer 2 weeks after I bought it to have a active un-related recall done,so I had them look into the filling problem. They replaced a part that said was bad(evap solinoid)that didnt fix fueling problem, and costly to remove tank to search for problem, going to fix myself. Find it hard to believe that this isn't a known problem. Second is a technical service bulletin from 2016,nhta #101137960,manufacturer #16-na-195. This should be a recall and checked to see if repair has been made. I assume this won't be covered on my vehicle so I will have to fix fuell leak, truck only has 74,000 miles. This fuel leaking could be potentially dangerous,it's happening while your filling as well, would only know it unless you looked way under vehicle. Heavy fumes is bad as well. With this "technical bulletin"things you haul could drip and leak onto fuel tank so beds should be sealed to keep this from happening regardless!!.

40 Other Fuel System problem of the 2016 Chevrolet Colorado

Failure Date: 04/24/2021

After fueling, the vehicle cranks but does not start. After sitting for approximately 10 minutes, the engine will start but idles roughly for a few more minutes. Also after long highway drives, the engine will run roughly and occasionally stall when the vehicle is stopped. Vehicle was brought to dealer who diagnosed as a faulty purge solenoid. This is a known problem in 2015 models as detailed in gm special coverage adjustment letter #18029. This 2016 model year is not included.

43 Other Fuel System problem of the 2016 Chevrolet Colorado

Failure Date: 02/14/2021

The (emissions) evap valve issue seen in 2017-2020 models that have an active recall put, is happening with my current model (2016), yet no recall has been sent forward for 2016s.

44 Other Fuel System problem of the 2017 Chevrolet Colorado

Failure Date: 03/12/2020

For the fifth time my exhaust fluid quality poor indicator comes on I paid $1300. 00 a GMC new orleans to fix, but they couldn't find the problem. Since then when it comes on and I drive it until 75 mph or 55mph max it corrects itself. I don't know what to do because the dealer knows not what's the problem. I met another person with the same problem. Please help me it has come back on here on I-5 near the sf bay area. I must drive back to las vagas. Thank you.

45 Other Fuel System problem of the 2017 Chevrolet Colorado

Failure Date: 02/28/2020

The original owner of my vehicle successfully had gm buy back this truck. The nox sensors and wiring harness had been replaced three times which cleared the codes and allowed the vehicle to appear to be in proper working condition. When gm bought the vehicle back from the original owner, gm went through and supposedly "fixed the issue" and branded the title as a manufacturer buyback and put the vehicle back on the market to the general public. I purchased this vehicle knowing all of this and trusting that if gm said they fixed the issue, they had really fixed it. Now I am a year into ownership and this vehicle is still under warranty, however this is the third time that this same exact thing that the original owner had an issue with has surfaced. The vehicle speed is limited when this occurs making the vehicle dangerous to drive on the roads. The vehicle is always in motion when when this occurs and usually on an interstate far from the dealership.

46 Other Fuel System problem of the 2009 Chevrolet Colorado

Failure Date: 12/09/2019

Truck intermittently loses power when pressing gas peddle causing bucking, stalling then will suddenly runs fine again causing rapid acceleration creating extremely dangerous and hazardous driving. Appears to be the fuel system control module because it occurs in damp, rain weather. According to the dealer the fuel system control module was replaced as per recall before purchase. In addition, the throttle body was also replaced as part of another recall for the same problem. The same intermittent problem still exist but gm is unable to repair this vehicle after numerous complaints and multiple attempts.

47 Other Fuel System problem of the 2016 Chevrolet Colorado

Failure Date: 09/25/2019

The check engine light came on it popped up engine power reduced wouldn't go over 35 miles and hr on the interstate is not a good thing. I pulled over turned car off. Turned key back on started it was fine. A couple weeks later pulling out in traffic check engine. Light. Comes on and loses power again almost get hit. Go to parts. Store to plug machine for diagnosis. First it said unknown. So we do it again pa201 00 code. Computer said co2 sensor. I was told a TSB bulletin came in for this software update but nobody wants to talk about it they just want to fix it then charge. U for it. But. I think it should be covered software issues shouldn't be absorbed at customers exspense. My truck is a turbo diesel its hard to find parts for it at part store and diagnostic machine just getting in oil filters. Anyway in response of software it should be covered by someone else besides me. Before it loses power and vet's me killed or I. A wreck need issue resolved.

48 Other Fuel System problem of the 2018 Chevrolet Colorado

Failure Date: 09/24/2019

During some starts (in morning after not driving for several hours), the engine will have a pulsing idle ~750-1000 rpm. After letting it sit for a minute to warm up, I drive down the road. If I am able to drive without stopping, there will be no issues. However, if I come to a stop within 0. 5 miles or so, the engine will shut off. When I try and restart, the engine will stall repeatedly. The engine will eventually restart. There have been no codes produced nor any lights on the dash board. Has happened several times.

49 Other Fuel System problem of the 2018 Chevrolet Colorado

Failure Date: 08/05/2019

The torquer converter its the problem I find out a day on highway I was driving and the truck lose power it takes time to move to other gear and make a weird sound I take the truck to the chevy dealer and they just flush the transmission fluid and they said will fix the problem but after that get it worse it claps when put it in reverse or drive it use to shakes when you driving even at not high speed. The problem is not solve and the guy from the dealer told me GMC will not let them change the part is his own words. He said you have a good warranty don't worry but I need solution and the dealer doesn't show any interest to fix my truck problem, I have to rent a car apparently was cover for my insurance but a week later they call me because they have a issue with the car I rent and just rented for 24 hours. Is why I'm doing this complaint to find someone can help me and finally my truck get fix.

50 Other Fuel System problem of the 2009 Chevrolet Colorado

Failure Date: 03/21/2019

On three different occasions in motion on public streets or roads now I have been driving along and went to accelerate when the gas pedal kept going down until the pedal stuck wide open and stuck fully accelerated. I have managed to avoid disaster but this is alarming that there is no recall for this problem that I see a lot about on the internet chat rooms with this model of Chevrolet!!.

51 Other Fuel System problem of the 2018 Chevrolet Colorado

Failure Date: 01/01/2019

Purchased new chevy Colorado 4x4 extended cab with 3. 6-liter v6, transmission 8-speed model 8l45. Transmission developed shudder during light throttle acceleration between 30 and 70 mph. Shudder is cyclic lasting 4 - 12 seconds, reaccurring 45 - 90 seconds. Shudder feels similiar to driving over mild rumble strips or rough pavement. First notice transmission problem around 1200 mile mark, total mileage on vehice as of April 11, 2019 is 2750 miles. More information can be found with ge service information (si) as a techinical service bulletin (TSB). Refer to these gm TSB's 16-na-175, 18-na-177, and 18-na-355.

56 Other Fuel System problem of the 2017 Chevrolet Colorado

Failure Date: 01/06/2018

In cold temperatures that the northern states experience (around 4 degrees f) the truck will intermittently die in the middle of the road while driving. Complete power loss with no warning, which seems to happen at any time. When the weather is above 10f consistently it seems there are no issues. Extremely dangerous and can leave you suddenly without power while driving.

57 Other Fuel System problem of the 2016 Chevrolet Colorado

Failure Date: 10/12/2017

2016 chevy Colorado with less then 10,000 miles. At low rpms on any incline truck will buck, sputter, and hesitate rather than automatically shift into lower gear. In city traffic, after slowing to make a turn then accelerating, truck will buck and sputter and drive train will make a hammer sound after engaging . I took it to dealer who said he could not duplicate problem, although this is a known problem.

58 Other Fuel System problem of the 2009 Chevrolet Colorado

Failure Date: 04/17/2017

I had my fuel system control module replaced on my 2009 Chevrolet Colorado on 04/17/2017. For some reason my vehicle isn't covered in the recall even though there was water in the module which caused my engine light to come on and my vehicle not to start, which is the exact consequence described in the recall.

59 Other Fuel System problem of the 2017 Chevrolet Colorado

Failure Date: 03/14/2017

A defective intermediate fuel line collar not crimped. Ac delco part no. 12654115.

60 Other Fuel System problem of the 2016 Chevrolet Colorado

Failure Date: 01/24/2017

Vehicle has erratic downshifting and upshifting of the automatic transmission causes abrupt changes in acceleration and deceleration that sets up sequences that force the driver to continually press down on, or let up, on the break and or accelerator to attempt to blend in with stop-and-go traffic. Only getting 15-16. 5 mpg city driving.

61 Other Fuel System problem of the 2016 Chevrolet Colorado

Failure Date: 12/26/2016

This vehicle's erratic downshifting and upshifting of the automatic transmission causes abrupt changes in acceleration and deceleration that sets up sequences that force the driver to continually press down on, or let up, on the break and or accelerator to attempt to blend in with stop-and-go traffic. In very heavy traffic, present when entering or leaving large cities, the onset and continuance of this vehicle's performance worsens resulting in driver fatigue and extreme stress, brought on by the ever present necessity to be extra watchful and to maneuver to avoid hitting the vehicle in front, or being rear-ended. When driving through mountainous terrain at today's interstate speeds, there is recurring "bumping" that sets up when ascending long grades. It creates the feeling that either the transmission is attempting to downshift but then changes its mind, or the engine's rpm are about to increase but don't. This adds to fear of imminent failure and being left stranded. This behavior was present from the very first time the vehicle was driven. It's getting worse. This driver believes the unsafe operating performance of this vehicle as described above, is exacerbated by the combination of the small, 4 cylinder engine coupled to the 6 speed transmission, that requires the engine to rapidly downshift or upshift to provide the needed performance required in today's driving environments. Further, it is evident the software controlling the transmission's operating behavior was neither fully developed nor tested throughout its anticipated full operating range and as such creates a vehicle that is dangerous to operate on public roads attempts to have these issues addressed with the dealer resulted in being told. . . " nothing can be done. . . The problems you are encountering are being are being experienced by many customers. Chevrolet is not providing any solutions".

62 Other Fuel System problem of the 2006 Chevrolet Colorado

Failure Date: 10/18/2016

64 Other Fuel System problem of the 2016 Chevrolet Colorado

Failure Date: 10/12/2016

Tl- the contact owns a 2016 Chevrolet Colorado. The contact stated while driving 75 mph, when the forcefully began to decelerate it's speed. The contact stated check engine warning light was illuminated and regeneration in progress message was on display. The contact was able to drive at 20 mph to his destination. The vehicle was taken to local dealer ron westphal Chevrolet ( 1425 ogden Ave, aurora, IL 60503;(630) 598-1029), where it was diagnosed with needing diesel plug filter to be cleaned. The vehicle had been repaired, but the contact stated he had experience the failure again on 1/13/2018. The vehicle was taken back to dealer and was had the diesel plug filter to be cleaned for a second time and restarted the software of the general computer system. The manufacturer had been informed of failure. The failure mileage was 13,565. Dp.

65 Other Fuel System problem of the 2016 Chevrolet Colorado

Failure Date: 07/20/2016

When merging onto I-70 freeway from on-ramp, I applied throttle to move into the traffic flow. Engine "stumbled" as if in a dead spot. Truck did not accelerate and appeared to be lugging badly. Transmission was in too high a gear and seemed to be searching for correct gear. During this time oncoming traffic was forced to brake and there was a near miss of having a rear-end collision. All I could do was watch in the rear view mirror as traffic converged on me. This "dead throttle / wrong gear" issue has happened repeatedly on surface streets but luckily on surface streets I was not in such a critical situation. This is a problem that has been reported repeatedly and at many places on the internet. When will NHTSA force gm to address this issue? hopefully you will act before this results in serious injury or fatalities (if it already has not). Please act!.

66 Other Fuel System problem of the 2015 Chevrolet Colorado

Failure Date: 06/06/2016

My 2015 Colorado z71is experiencing moderate to severe hesitation concerns. It's progressively getting worse. I first brought it back to the dealership to have it checked out around1000 miles, 6000 and now 20000. Each time they claimed they can't do anything because the diagnostics reveal no trouble codes, although, per aforementioned bulletin, there's proof that a problem exists. I inquired if it could be a mechanical issue, but they refused to because no diagnostics produced no codes/proof.

67 Other Fuel System problem of the 2015 Chevrolet Colorado

Failure Date: 01/27/2016

Engine stalls intermittently when beginning to accelerate from red light/stop sign. Stalls occurred within 1 mile distance from where vehicle was started. First stall was at red light moving forward lightly. Sifted the vehicle to park, turned key, vehicle turned over and was able to drive once put in park. The vehicle was immediately taken to the chevy service center. The service advisor was able to read an error code p0506 even though the check engine light was not illuminated. Chevy could not schedule an appointment for the vehicle until 5 days later; the error had cleared and they were unable to duplicate the problem. Service department declared vehicle safe to drive as it the issue couldn't be duplicated. Engine stalled a second time when beginning to cross road at a two-way stop with oncoming traffic. Shifted vehicle to park, turned truck back on, shifted to drive and was able to move from intersection without being hit. . The Colorado was taken to the dealership a few hours later and the error code had cleared already. Service advisor stated the car was safe to drive and there was no work to be done as their were no warning codes and the check engine light was not illuminated.

68 Other Fuel System problem of the 2009 Chevrolet Colorado

Failure Date: 10/08/2015

The truck is still experiencing "no-starts". I have been in correspondence with gm to try to resolve the issue for quite some time, now. I purchased my truck from van Chevrolet in carrollton, texas on July 27, 2009. I was not aware of a recall on the fuel system control module( recall #08411 beginning may 18, 2009), nor was I informed of it by the dealership. Smart Chevrolet of white hall (formerly of pine bluff) claimed to have repaired it in 2011, however I have had even more issues since then. Smart claimed to have replaced a brake lamp switch, a clutch safety switch, repaired a broken wire in the left door jam area, replaced a battery (my cost), without my permission to do so, reset sensors which they refused to explain the type of sensors they reset (my cost), reset oil life sensor, (no record of oil change) and I have had to replace the right side headlamp twice myself. Smart blamed the "no-starts" on my locking gas cap and the floor mats, and on my last visit to their dealership, refused to witness (for gm) the" no-start" in their parking lot. Two other dealerships have taken a look at the truck and I paid for repairs of a seat belt pretensioner ( cause of airbag light), and have been refused an invoice and to be charged to show the repair of the broken wire in the same door jam (Smart supposed to have repaired). This dealership admitted witnessing the "no-start" then changed their story after speaking with gm. The last dealership, after talking to gm, tried to also say that the "no-start" was due to the floor mat. I experienced "no-starts" before I had the locking- gas cap(made specifically for the 2009 Colorado truck) or my truck floor mats. Gm offered a subscription to on-star and a $2,000. 00 loyalty voucher towards the purchase of a new chevy vehicle in their words "to satisfy me" (joke, right !) the key is turned in the ignition, the car does not crank.

69 Other Fuel System problem of the 2007 Chevrolet Colorado

Failure Date: 09/25/2015

Starting in 2014, the vehicle had widely spaced and random issues of not starting, but would start fine after an undetermined amount of time. At the time, I did not know that it was related to the pass lock system which will not allow a restart for a period of approximately 10 minutes. In the past month, I have had this problem approximately 12 or more times and finally found out that it was caused by the pass lock system. This condition is very dangerous because if the truck is shut off to save fuel in a traffic jam, or at a traffic accident, etc, it may not restart when the road then becomes open, leaving you stranded in a traffic lane. Because the problem is totally intermittent, you can't troubleshoot it because by the time you try to find out what is wrong, there is nothing wrong and it will restart fine. The problem can be in the ignition module (icm), the body control module (bcm) or a connector or wiring at any point in between as well as some other remote possibilities. This problem has caused me to late almost every time it has happened. The only solution offered by the dealership is replacing parts piecemeal starting at the cheapest and working up which can lead to expenses over $1000. 00 and will still not guarantee the problem is fixed.

70 Other Fuel System problem of the 2009 Chevrolet Colorado

Failure Date: 07/12/2015

I went to pull my truck out of the garage and it would not start. A mechanic came to my house to look at it and stated that it is not getting fuel. Upon digging into the repairs the fuel module had water in it. The mechanic went to o'reillys for the part and was advised of a recall # 08411. I reported my problems to jim butler cheverolet and sepaugh both whom refused to acknowledge this recall. I also called gm about this recall and got no where. I was not able to get to work for 1 day and then rides for the rest of the week to work. This is causing an inconveince to me and my coworkers, as well as put of pockets cost for this repair.
