36 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2016 Chevrolet Colorado

Failure Date: 12/03/2018

As I was driving my vehicle home from work, my vehicle lost acceleration and the stabiltrax warning came on. I had to pull off of the highway as fast as I could due to the fact that the speed was 75 and my vehicle was decelerating very quickly. I turned my car off momentarily and it magically became normal other then the check engine light staying on. I only have 41000 miles on my truck, so there is no reason why it should be messing up already! from the looks of the research I have done, this is a common occurrence on this yea,r make, and model of this truck. It runs great some days and causes me to have to pull over multiple times other days. Very frustrating!.

37 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2015 Chevrolet Colorado

Failure Date: 07/01/2018

Tl the contact owns a 2015 Chevrolet Colorado. While driving various speeds, the vehicle hesitated and would not immediately accelerate. In addition, the check engine indicator illuminated and the odor of fuel was present inside the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer (Chevrolet of wasilla, 3700 e. Parks hwy, wasilla, ak), but the cause of the failures were unable to be determined. The manufacturer was notified and did not assist. The failure mileage was 45,000.

38 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2016 Chevrolet Colorado

Failure Date: 04/01/2018

When driving about 35 mph, and then pressing the gas pedal to accelerate / pass another vehicle, the engine revs up to 4000 5000 rpms, but does not downshift. It then takes a few seconds to go back to 1200-1500 rpm range. It may downshift at that point, and the truck will jerk violently. I took it to the dealer where I bought it new. They said gm is aware of the problem and referred to TSB #pip5547. I took it in again in Dec. 2019 before the warranty expired. They had the vehicle for 18 days. They agree there is a problem, but gm has no fix for it. This is a repeatable problem, happen consistently in the 30 to 40 mph range. The manual states that when trying to pass at less than 35 mph, press the accelerator halfway down, as I have done. That is when the engine revs up but does not downshift like it normally should. But then the downshift does occurs while the rpms are coming back down, and the truck jerks violently. This is dangerous because I am unable to reliably pass another vehicle at this speed. Also, the same behavior will occur in the 50 to 60 mph range. This is very dangerous when using an on ramp to get on an expressway.

40 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2016 Chevrolet Colorado

Failure Date: 02/02/2018

During ownership of my 2016 Chevrolet Colorado v6 gasoline engine vehicle it has had numerous sputtering situations when accelerating. There is no rhyme or reason as to why the truck sputters to almost stalling. Dealership claims that the fuel injectors are probably dirty / fouled. Had injector maintenance performed and truck has no better engine performance and sputtering continues. This is dangerous on highway when accelerating in traffic. This has been occurring since original purchase date in October 2015.

41 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2015 Chevrolet Colorado

Failure Date: 12/05/2017

Front gauge panel not responding. Only the battery gauge is working. A service message shows for all affected areas. No indication of transmision shift, speed, temperature, oil, tachometer and ohter features not shown on panel. Vehicle still able to run.

42 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2017 Chevrolet Colorado

Failure Date: 09/29/2017

Upon entering my vehicle, I noticed a computer module had fallen out of the drivers side dash and was resting on the accelerator pedal. Upon further examination, it appears this module was held in place by two sided tape which failed to secure the unit. The wires attached to the unit were long enough to block access to both the accelerator and brake pedal. Therefore, it is my concern that had this unit fallen out while the vehicle was in motion, access to the brake and/or accelerator pedals could have been impeded and an accident causing serious injury or fatalities could have occurred.

43 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2016 Chevrolet Colorado

Failure Date: 07/10/2017

The transmission does not downshift from a high gear (5 or 6) to a lower gear when slowing down from 45 mph to 20 mph (or lower). When the accelerator is depressed to accelerate the engine bucks, vibrates, and does not accelerate. The engine rpm drops to 1,000 rpm or lower. If the accelerator is quickly floored the transmission downshifts several gears lower and jerks forward. This condition happens primarily on secondary roads while driving along the road and when pulling from one road into traffic on another road. The situation when pulling into traffic is dangerous because the truck does not accelerate as it should. This truck was purchased new and has 14,500 miles on it. This condition has been present since the truck was new and the severity varies with truck speed and road inclination.

44 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2016 Chevrolet Colorado

Failure Date: 01/13/2017

I started my Colorado to head home, the weather was clear and cool. The "driver information center" in the instrument cluster flashed that the airbag, anti-theft system, and the traction control system (tcs)/stabilitrak were inoperable. The airbag, tcs, and one other lights were illuminated. I turned the vehicle off. Waited a few seconds and turned it back on. The same thing happened again. I cleared the warning messages and started to drive to take it in and get it looked at by a certified Chevrolet mechanic. I left the parking lot and after entering the nearby street I noticed that the driver information center was not displaying any vehicle information (showing zeros or blanks for all diagnostic information including mileage, fuel, oil pressure, speed etc). Also, the needles for the speedometer, tachometer, fuel gauge, and engine coolant temperature gauge were lifeless and reading zeros. Only the odometer and "infotainment" system were working correctly. I estimated my speed to be above 30 mph at this point. I immediately pulled off the road, put the vehicle in park and turned it off. I waited a few minutes and scanned the wiring under the hood and steering wheel but could not identify any issues. When I started the vehicle again, all the issues were gone as if nothing happened. Seemed kinda like restarting a computer to clear software issues. Not sure what could've caused it. My vehicle is a 2016 Chevrolet Colorado z71 with 27,000 miles on it. It was purchased October 2015. Probably either a software/electrical issue, gremlins, or a russian hacking attempt. Due to bribing the gremlins with socks to bother someone else's car, and the lack of any pictures appearing in the infotainment system featuring a shirtless russian dictator making impolite gestures while riding a bear. . . My uneducated guess is that it's a software issue.

45 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2016 Chevrolet Colorado

Failure Date: 11/30/2016

The contact owns a 2016 Chevrolet Colorado. The contact stated that while driving approximately 70 mph, a loud popping noise came from the engine area before the speed suddenly decreased to 40 mph. 48 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2016 Chevrolet Colorado

Failure Date: 09/02/2016

While driving the 2016 Colorado, the transmission/engine seems to have trouble shifting and accelerating and the shift patterns are erratic it seems, maybe its the fuel efficient crap that shuts down cylinders, maybe its the trans? . Experienced it on highways and lower speeds, stop and go traffic, truck's transmission clunks, shifts hard at random and stutters allot . It's aggrivating. When trying to pass, seems to be zero acceleration felt when flooring it then suddenly kicks in (roughly). . Like OH hey-I need to go. . I could get in a wreck-ended because of this and I better not try to pass anyone. . I feel my safety could be at risk with as much hesitation then suddenly lurches as it has. I see quite a few complaints already concerning this and/or describing just about the same ordeal. Daily - but random - city and highway, turning, straight etc. Basically any situation but idle.

49 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2015 Chevrolet Colorado

Failure Date: 05/11/2016

The contact owns a 2015 Chevrolet Colorado. On several occasions while attempting to accelerate in traffic, the accelerator pedal was depressed but the vehicle failed to respond. After waiting for several minutes, the accelerator pedal was depressed again and the vehicle responded as intended. The vehicle was taken to the dealer to be diagnosed. The mechanic was unable to duplicate the failure. The contact stated that the failure recurred several times. The manufacturer was not notified. The approximate failure mileage was 30,000.

50 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2008 Chevrolet Colorado

Failure Date: 04/28/2016

Brake lights on my 2008 chevy Colorado are not working ,a few years ago I had the same problem and took it to the dealer for repairs , the problem came up again but this time I see there is a recall for vehicles like mine , except it looks like the repairs are not covered by the manufacturer because the vehicle was sold in California. Recall#09v310000.

51 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2016 Chevrolet Colorado

Failure Date: 04/01/2016

Engine seems to lag under quick acceleration. Problem occurs most often when accelerating from a turn or when changing lanes under acceleration. Speeds of occurrence mostly approximately 20-25 mph. Requested checks and service at a dealership only to be given a service bulletin from gm stating this was a normal part of the traction management system. My previous vehicle (2014 silverado) was also listed on the bulletin, but the problem was never noticed on this vehicle. I see this issue as an increased risk of a collision with the highest risk being a rear end collision. This needs to be addressed and fixed.

52 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2015 Chevrolet Colorado

Failure Date: 12/20/2015

When slowing down and then accelerating afterward while in traffic the vehicle does not down shift to the correct gear. The vehicle will then sputter and will be very sluggish to accelerate. This happens while in motion as well as from a complete stop. I was nearly rear ended while making a right turn into traffic and the truck would not find the correct gear and thus would not accelerate enough to get out of the way from oncoming traffic. Several times I thought that the truck was going to kill because it was sputtering so much when in the incorrect gear. Truck also wobbles more than usual when turning and makes a popping sound in a turn. Also, radio acts like it has a mind of its own. Navigation will go haywire as if someone is touching the screen, but no one is touching it. Radio will change channels on its own and volume will increase and decrease without any driver input.

53 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2005 Chevrolet Colorado

Failure Date: 12/07/2015

Travelling I-270 in dublin, ohio around 2pm at approximately 70mph when truck engine died. The emergency flashers and radio were still operational. Pulled to right side of highway and attempted to stop. The brakes were losing power, but there was enough to slow and then stop. Dash indicated ¿reduced power¿. Upon pulling off road, wife contacted aaa, while I looked under hood for anything obvious such as battery terminals loose or any plugs being unplugged. Nothing appeared out of order, I got back into truck and it started. I told wife to tell aaa we would attempt to make it home, approximately 2 hours away. Through this all, the truck had stopped running 6 more times before we got home. It restarted after sitting a few minutes each time. Truck was towed to local chevy dealership. After a few days, received call truck was repaired. The pcm (power control module) was replaced. When I got into vehicle there was a sheet of paper on transmission hump explaining what a refurbished part is (NHTSA doc#2). I glanced at it and thought it was mistake since I was charged $500 for the part alone. Total cost was $772. 36 (NHTSA doc#1). When I got home I reviewed the paperwork, saw they had installed a used part and immediately called. They said a new part was not available. I contacted general motors (NHTSA doc#4 & NHTSA doc#5) and they were no help. I also contacted ac delco and they confirmed the part was not available as new. I thought manufacturers were required to make parts available for vehicles 10 years after production stopped. The truck is 10 years old, but production of that generation stopped in 2012.

54 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2004 Chevrolet Colorado

Failure Date: 11/03/2014

As I was driving I noticed my speed control wasn't working. Once I arrived at my destination I researched this issue online and found that others also had problems with the brake lights when this happened. So, I went out to check my brake lights and they are non responsive.

55 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2005 Chevrolet Colorado

Failure Date: 05/15/2013

While driving at any speed or sitting idle reduce power light comes on and vehicle slows down. This is very dangerous and frustrating. I've been to three dealers, and the dealer is there to deal in other words make money even if they don't fix the problems. Not to mention trying there best to get you to trade your problem car in and buy a new car.

56 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2004 Chevrolet Colorado

Failure Date: 05/06/2013

The ignition will not start at first. It takes multiple times in order to get the engine to turn over. Once the ignition does cause the engine to turn over, the vehicle will suddenly lose power while driving as the vehicle shuts itself off (as if the ignition has been turned off although it has not been). This has happened on multiple occasions in the course of normal driving activities, several times while crossing busy intersections which luckily has not resulted in any crashes to date, but may very well result in a potentially fatal one should it continue to occur. Engine has been tested and all systems check out, except for the ignition switch which -will- have to be replaced.

57 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2012 Chevrolet Colorado

Failure Date: 04/18/2012

The contact rented a 2012 Chevrolet Colorado. While driving approximately 70 mph, the vehicle continued to accelerate at the same speed as the contact removed his foot from the accelerator pedal. The vehicle decelerated once the contact applied the brakes. The vehicle rental company was advised of the failure and advised the contact that the vehicle would be further inspected to assess any possible failures. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 13,350.

Front left abs sensor on a 2005 cheverolet Colorado. The truck only has 88,000 miles on it and the abs fault signal comes on everytime I drive causing my breaks to become stiff which stops them from working causing me to almost hit someone everytime I go to a red light or stop sign.

59 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2006 Chevrolet Colorado

Failure Date: 11/09/2008

P0017 code , mechanical engineering design malfunction. Electrical engineering curcuit (12v) steady design malfunction, actuater part design malfunction. High rate of speed engine rev/or power lose. 60 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2004 Chevrolet Colorado

Failure Date: 11/08/2004

While pulling into a parking space my foot was on the brake pedal. As I was putting the gear shift into park the truck lunged forward hitting a concrete post and building. Air bags deployed causing injury to driver on both arms and stomach. Truck is to be repaired as there is front end damage from crash.

61 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2004 Chevrolet Colorado

Failure Date: 03/11/2004

I bought a 2004 Chevrolet Colorado, which has a problem with the engine revving up in park to about 2500 rpms when at a normal temperature. It will then come down to a normal rpms, and start idling very rough. This problem has caused my truck to be in the shop 4 times already and nothing has been done to solve it. The second time it went in they, the Chevrolet dealership, changed out the manifold and catalytic convertor, but since then nothing else can be done and now the problem is happening while the vehicle is in drive and it causes the vehicle to lunge forward.
