5 Car Stall problem of the 2007 Chevrolet Corvette

Failure Date: 05/14/2017

Needle bearings were found in oil pan. This is very common problems in gm vehicles as defective uncaged rocker arm design which causes rocker arms to easily break off bearings. Gm even issues a bulletin, but owners have to bear the cost of defective factory-parts. Broken needle bearings could end up in engine and destroy engine. Even owners replace broken rocker arms, they will fail because they're uncaged. To repair permanently, owners have to install caged rocker arms from non-factory part, which will nullify warranty. Owners are trapped in keep replacing rocker arms, or install non-defective non-factory caged rocker arms and lose warranty. Gm should recall this problem.

8 Car Stall problem of the 1998 Chevrolet Corvette

Failure Date: 07/06/2016

I have owned my 1998 Corvette for two years. The pull key and wait 10 seconds and the service steering column lock errors are crippling me enjoyment of the car. I have installed an lmc5 module last year and the problems will not go away. The recall on the service column lock was performed on the car which removed the actual locking mechanism on the steering column. But the car will not move over two miles per hour with the error message and I have found no fixed that help me. What is gm doing about the horrible horrible problem on their most distinguished car model. . . . ? all instances happen when first stariting the car no matter how long it has sat. Battery is perfect. I very rarely dive the car, but when I do I have this horrible problem and it is getting worse.

9 Car Stall problem of the 2007 Chevrolet Corvette

Failure Date: 02/10/2016

I have a 2007 Corvette z06 with 43 k miles on it. I decided to have someone check my car because of the article I had read about the ls7 engines having valve guide issues. I was sure that they would be ok because the Corvette sites say it is only a minor amount of heads that were machined in correctly. I was having other work done to my Corvette so looked for a place that does mostly Corvette service, I told the mechanic to check my valve guides while he was doing the other work I was sure they would of been ok. Upon my surprise he sent me videos showing me that they were not ok and needed to be repaired. It cost me $1,950. 00 to have my heads cnc and new valve guides and springs installed the old ones were very bad I have videos showing this, the car was running with little valve noise at the time but were still bad mechanic would not even dyno the car after seeing how bad they were.

10 Car Stall problem of the 2006 Chevrolet Corvette

Failure Date: 10/13/2015

I was concerned about a noise that I was hearing in my 2006 z06 that is unlike any other noise I have heard while currently owning my three other gm vehicles. I decided to bring it to a well know Corvette speciality shop near me. The told me about the valve guide issue that has been linked to the ls7 heads. I immediately told him to take the heads off the car and check them. I had 4 exhaust valves that were way out of gm specs. I had the heads re-machined properly and installed new intake and exhaust valve guides, valve springs and seals.

12 Car Stall problem of the 2008 Chevrolet Corvette

Failure Date: 01/06/2015

I would like to file a complaint due to safety concerns over bad heads and valves put into a percentage of these Corvette z06 cars. Gm has admitted there is an issue and yet refuses to do anything about it. There was a machining error with these heads and the engines can drop a valve without warning or symptoms and without pulling your motor apart there is no way to determine if your car is affected or not. The fact is now that an increasing percentage of these cars are losing their engines and replacement cost is over 17000. 00. Should the engine go it could lead to a serious crash from the rod puncturing the block and spreading oil under and around the car which not only affects the car in question but any others following it at highway speed. There have been some that have gone off the road because of this issue and it is taking any of the joy of owning or driving this car at all. Gm will not even tell anyone out of warranty what to do to address the problem and when some heads were replaced by gm for cars under warranty, some were found to have bad tolerances before even being installed. Gm has now gone on to their new model z06 and is simply hoping this issue goes away while throwing all their loyal customers under the bus so to speak. Something should be done before there is a death cause from this issue, not to mention a loyal customer losing a 17000. Engine through no fault of their own. I have contact Chevrolet several times and was met with little response or enthusiasm to do anything about the problem at all.

13 Car Stall problem of the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette

Failure Date: 08/27/2014

I saved for 3 years to purchase a new 2014 Corvette. It was broken in properly and was well maintained. It was 3 months old and had 3,645 miles when on the way to work it threw a rod bearing and the engine died. The car lost all power. Luckily, I was able to coast my car to the side of the road but it was very dangerous during 7:30 am rush hour traffic with no power on in the vehicle. It has taken gm over a month to fix the car, which ended up in a full engine replacement. My brand new top of the line chevy product had the whole front end disassemble at the dealer and re-installed. I told gm I was not confident about this work but they insisted everything would be like new. I had the car for 3 days when smoke started to come from under the hood. I took the car back to correct this issue, a quality issue with paint, rear trunk seal, and to clean up cosmetic damage (replacing more parts) from the installation of the new engine. I know this is not your organization purpose to monitor quality but all of this lead to the fact that gm has issues with this car. I asked the dealer if the car was being analyzed by technicians and they stated they would just get the parts back and work the problem. I do know that gm has 3 TSB related to engine replacments or what to do after an engine is replaced on a car that is less than a year old. Car and driver reported engine damage and there are at least two other members of the Corvette forum that had severe engine damage. This problem is a safety issue. If I could not have made it to the side of the road, I could have been hit from the rear or struck by traffic walking across major freeway. It has been in the shop now for more than 30 days of my 120 days of ownership. It is back again for another 7 to 10 days. I asked gm to help me replace it but they have refused saying they will keep repairing it.
