The car has a strong gas smell that has a know problem that happens when tank is over half full. Gm issued a special coverage adjustment 15682 primary tank module flange fuel and vapor leak in July 2016. But many of us as second owners did not receive the letter to take car back while still under warranty, the car has smell is so strong cannot park the car in garage and can smell when it outside. I would believe there could be a risk of fire if car was in a small enclosed space and a source of ignition was present. This should have been a full recall based on a gas vapor leak not just a service adjustment. I have tried to work with gm on this but they claim its to late even though they issued a 3rd revision of the adjustment in July 2017. To me for a known fuel vapor leak problem there should be no expiration like a recall.

My vehicle with 85,000 miles began emmiting a continuous raw gas smell when I refill the fuel tank. Smell is coming from the left side, rear, wheel well. Smell is intense to the point I cannot store inside the garage as I fear a fire hazard and a toxic smell is coming into my house interior. Smell seems to end once fuel level goes below 1/2 full.
Leaking fuel tank, while setting in my garage.
My car has 45,000 miles. There is a fuel smell coming from the car. I always fill the tank full when I plan on not driving it for a while. If I leave it parked for several months and don't drive it, the fuel tank will be empty when I start it up. The fuel smell appears to be coming from the middle of the car. This has been happening for the last four or five years. I will only park the vehicle in open areas and won't park it in a garage due to fear of build up of gas fumes.

My 2008 Corvette has a strong odor of gas fumes that fills my garage. . I have to leave my garage door up about 2 and the side door open to get the fumes out. . This started a week ago when I filled the tank up. .
Car has a condition where a fuel odor is detected, fuel droplets appear below the left-hand fuel tank with fuel gauge level above 1/2, or a malfunction indicator lamp illuminates.
Vehicle has a very strong gasoline smell following refueling. The gasoline vapors invade the passenger cabin to the extent the windows have to be down for ventilation. It remains that way until the fuel tank reaches half full, and disappears as the tank reaches 1/4 full. Now I only fil the tank to 1/2 full to minimize the vapor. I am concerned that a spark may ignite the vapor if the tank were filled . I have heard this condition exists on this model and am wondering why it hasn't been addressed, or if is has please enlighten me, this is a very serious condition concerning the fuel delivery system.

Tl the contact called on behalf of an owner of a 2004 Chevrolet Corvette. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic due to a fuel leak. The mechanic determined that the plastic opening of the fuel tank, which connected a primary tank to the secondary tank hose, was fractured and fuel was leaking. The vehicle needed a new fuel tank and crossover components. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 39,000.

Very strong fuel vapor smell, fuel pools up on top of fuel tank and leaks onto hot exhaust.
Just bought this 2008 c6 Corvette coupe. Only 50k miles. Severe fuel smell when gas tank is 1/2 or more full. Parked in garage without engine being on for more than a full day, and the gas smell is so overwhelming, the smell permeated through the walls and into the house. Cannot park in the garage.
My car reeks of gas if tank is filled more than half tank full. Fuel sprays from high pressure line at the top of the left tank, runs down sides and collects in sheetmetal pan that holds tank up. This car has only 20,000 miles and was out of service from 2015 to 2019 with a massive electrical meltdown of the abs system that completely destroyed the ecbm and the harness plug. After fixing the abs system in 2019, and driving the car again, I noticed strong fuel smell inside the car. I understand gm had a recall on the fuel tank problem but it ended in 2018, before I started having the fuel odor problem.
There is a known leak in the left fuel tank. My vehicle has symptoms but was never fixed. Vehicle is 15 years old but only 76,000 miles.
Fuel fumes and leakage from the left fueltank. Started during the spring of 2019 without any incident or mechanical chenge/ repair in the area. Noticed fuel leakage on the left side of the left tank. First appeared after taking the car out of the garage and reparking it in the garage again.
Tl the contact owns a 2008 Chevrolet Corvette. The contact stated that there was an abnormal odor of fuel emerging from the vehicle. The contact also noticed fuel leaking from the fuel tank area and the check engine indicator was illuminated. The local dealer and manufacturer were not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was 81,000.
When you fill up the fuel tanks you get a very strong smell of gas in the car as well as in the garage. General motors knows about this complaint and will help their customers. In fact there is a class action lawsuit against gm for year Corvette 2004. It will cost about $ 2,000. 00 to $ 2,500. 00 to make the repairs. A lot of times the right tank is cracked or the crossover tube is cracked . I have called gm and asked for help and they will not accept this as a warranty issue. There are many complaints about this issue . By the way all the gm dealers are aware of the issue. Can you help me out ? you smell the fuel when the car is stopped.

I notice a strong fuel odor inside the car when tank is filled. . Once I get to like half a tank it goes away. Also the headlight lens has to be polished frequently. They are cheap plastic.
After I park my 2008 Corvette inside, there is a strong smell of gasoline. I understand it is probably from a fuel leak at the top of the fuel tank on the driver's side. I thought it was because I might have over filled the tank, but I do not "top off" the tank. Most recently, I filled the tank, then drove over 100 miles. The smell is still there. This could potentially be a major health/fire hazard.
Defective fuel tank. Most owners have reported cracks in the fuel tank that result in gas leakage and strong smell of gasoline when the automobile is parked after fueling. First noticed 3 weeks ago after purchasing gasoline and returning to covered garage for storage. Gasoline can be smelled inside the residence.

Every time I fill the gas tank, the car smells heavily of gas fumes for days. I was told it is a leak from the top of the gas tank, and the mechanic told me he has seen this a lot with this model/year of Corvettes. It's caused my fuel economy to drop, and my fuel gauge will sometimes shut off completely.

Strong smell of fuel inside vehicle all the time, especially when tank is full. Visible fuel on top of left fuel tank, and stains of fuel running down sides of left fuel tank and into sheetmetal pan that supports tank.
This 2008 Corvette had a defective fuel tank module flange fuel and vapor leak per gm. When attempting to sell the vehicle the new purchaser found out from the dealer fuel vapor leaks when tank is filled over 1/2 way causing unhealthy issues when driven or sitting idle.
Fuel leak from the passenger fuel tank. This is creating a fuel vapor smell inside the car and the garage where parked. This is a fire and safety hazard!.

When I fill the gas tank more than halfway and drive it around I notice a gas smell entering the cabin. After parking it overnight the fuel smell in the cabin is overwhelming.
Whenever the fuel tank is filled beyond 1/2 gas fumes fill the passenger cabin. I have brought law suit against previous owner for non-disclosure.
Fuel vapors leaking from evap system causing check engine light to come on, code p0455. I took it to the dealership and the service rep informed me that the leak was from coming from gas tank. I was told to drive the car until check engine comes back on and then call the dealership so he could contact gm.
Just noticed the smell of gasoline after fill up in my garage. Checked the Corvette fourm and this is a known issue in this vehicle and gm has been fixing the issue if the car is under 10 years old as a warranty sadly my car is now over 10 years old and only has 75,000 miles on it. I really think this should be a recall issue. I did schedule a service check to test the system and was quoted 900. 00 to do a smoke test on the fuel system. It looks like gm has changed the plastic part that is cracking with a better plastic several time. I'm really worried about the car burning my home down and I'm keeping the fuel at half a tank.
I bought a 2004 Corvette used with 67k miles on it. The dealership had only filled the tank to less than half full. ,after my first fill up gas poured out from underneath, behind drivers side tire. I paid $ 16,500 for the car , so I took it back to dealer and they said they would repair. After about 10 days I went to dealer and noticed the car had not even moved. He said they did not know how to fix it and they had another dealership in another state that they would need to take it to. I left with the car unrepaired. Is there anything I can do ? I believe it is a recall on the crossover tube and the recall has expired. Close to a $1500 to $1800 repair.
My Corvette emits a very strong fuel smell both while driving and while stationary. It is most noticeable when the car is parked in the garage and shortly after driving. The issue is ongoing and occurs most frequently when the tanks are full or near full. The fumes are so strong in my garage that I get light headed and nauseous. I took the car to a dealer mechanic to have it looked at. Issue was identified as a leak in the left fuel tank. From the invoice I received "found fuel leak at left tank. Remove drive line and remove left tank. Found fuel module leaking. Replace module and tank hoses with drive line removed. Remove right tank and replace sending unit and all plastic hoses. Also necessary to replace left tank harness due to fuel contamination. " this repair cost $3,300. The dealership would not discount any money off of the repair even though they acknowledged that the car was not driveable in its current state and would be a safety issue to operate or store. The mechanic told me that he sees many 2007 Corvettes in for this same issue. This is not an isolated case. I have seen many complaints logged about this issue. It seems like a recall needs to be done to solve this.

2009 Corvette z06, very strong odor of fuel both in cab and outside of vehicle!!! looked under car on drivers side and was able to see wet/damp areas around fuel tank. What really sucks, is that I cant even park it in my garage. The fumes are so strong, I'm afraid something will cause the fumes to ignite and put everyone's lives in danger. I looked on alldatadiy and found a recall/service bulletin however, when I called the dealership, they said based on my VIN# that my car was not affected. . . . Wtf!!!!! how can it not be? my car is doing exactly what the recall/service bulletin says.
