My 2016 Chevrolet Cruze is only 4 years old. I had to replace the thermostat and after a inspection. The (vvt) variable valve timing when trying to start my car, it would click but wouldn't turn over all lights and power was on but car would not start. Also, my engine light was on and and the metal wire ring inside of the starter was completely broken in half. And had to be replaced.

The vehicle tries to start on its own. When you turn off the engine, many times the starter will try to start repidly on its own. With the key in the ignition but in the full off position. The starter kick in 1,2,3,4 times trying to start the engine. This will stop as soon as you remove the key. This is a safety issue as well as a defect. This could lead to damaging the starter and battery. This is definitely a safety issue. I could not find a recall for this issue. But I did find that this issue has accured to many chevy Cruze owners.

Whenever I leave the key in the ignition (usually do when it's parked in my garage) every now and then after parking the car, after a few minutes. The lights all come on as if someone is trying to start it. Sometimes it'll barely roll over. The starter starts to engage. It'll quit and then go into complete off mode. Sometimes it'll actually try to start but can't since the key is in the off position. It will continue to try to start repeatedly sometimes. I've been keeping an eye on it and now have to remove the key from the ignition every time I park the car. The service anti theft light came on the most recent time it had happened. But immediately went away after starting the vehicle and hasn't came back since.
It's been sitting for awhile now. I've replaced the engine, the battery, the alternator, the starter, the thermostat and the tensioner belt. All brand new and it's still not starting up . It acts like it wants to start over but doesnt, even without the keys in ignition, if I hook up spark plugs it acts like it wants to start even without the keys in ignition.

I was driving on 65 s and I lost all power to my car, my car is having a hard time starting. Went to have my starter tested and wasnt that, it's my battery and the cables. Car is unsafe to be driving and all Cruze should have a recall on them. My battery light will come on then a message will pop us saying power steering.
There is a problem with how the car is communicating with the anti theft system, at least that's what I am suspecting. Randomly, when I try to start the car the dashboard lights come on, the radio, and everything else except the engine won't even crank. I've had the basics checked (battery, alternator, starter) and all is well. While it may not seem like a safety issue the car has left me stranded many times. This is an ongoing issue I don't know what to do about this.
The car first started having issues with switching gears. Going into and out of drive specifically. Wouldn't even budge. Dealership said it must be something sticky spilled in gears. Have had no spills in that area. Soon after this visit my car would turn off in stop and go traffic. Dealership said they couldn't replicate the issue so they couldn't tell me what it was. Now, not much later than the last visit, my car is shutting off on the interstate, every light inside car (door open lights, radio lights, a/c lights, dash lights) are dimming and brightening or turning on and off on their own, windows roll up and down on their own, a/c shuts on and off or will change vents on its own, burglar system detection goes off when trying to start the car, and car won't start after being off for 20-30 minutes without a jump. Three different places have used battery and code readers and cannot find an issue. My battery, starter, and alternator are in great condition. Every place except the dealership has told me it's a "major electrical issue that needs to be fixed ASAP. " car is still under warranty. Has had all work aside from the readings done at dealership. They say they can't find out the issue. This is the third time within 4 months that my car issues have been avoided by the dealership and I have been told they can't replicate what I'm dealing with when they test drive it so they can't help me. It is a danger to me and any other driver around me when my car suddenly shuts off at 70 mph and I have to try to pull over to park my car to try to start it again. Clicking and zapping sounds can also be heard from under or behind my engine that should not be there. Was told at the dealership if they can't figure it out they would have to send me home with my vehicle. . . Still doing all these things. I have been the only owner and driver, under 20k miles on vehicle, no mods added.
Bought used (12,700 miles, gm certified) on Saturday. Car started by itself when parked, without key in the ignition, on Tuesday. No automatic starter installed.

When starting my car from any stationary position, 0 mph (flat parking, on a hill or at an angle) the starter will engage and continue to run and run without starting the engine. In order to start the car, I have to turn off the ignition and try again. The second time the car will start (so far). Also, when I use the air conditioner (car in motion, any speed 0-65mph, on city streets and on highways) there is a coolant smell that comes out or the vents. It is a strong smell and I cannot figure out a pattern for when it happens. It happens when I have the car running, sometimes when I first turn on the air conditioner and them it will happen randomly as I am driving and the air conditioner has been on for a while. I have never tried to see if it happens when I don't have the engine running (don't know if the air conditioner can run without the engine running).
