Our 2007 chevy Equinox fuel pump return started leaking fuel on the top of the fuel pump causing fuel to leak on the ground and releases strong gas fumes while parked in our garage. 6 Other Fuel System Pump problem

Failure Date: 08/23/2016

I bought a used 2007equinox last year (may 2015) I kept smelling gas and it was getting worse, didn't know about the recall, took it to my mechanic which cost me $965. 00 to replace. If this vehicle went through the recall and a fuel pump was replaced, should it have been leaking again after 4 years. It would hesitate on starting and driving and parking the gas fumes were so bad, I knew I had a leak somewhere, it was leaking in motion and when stationary, when I would park it and walk about the park, the gas fumes were the worst there, still could smell the gas in my car and outside by the drivers side and passenger side doors.

Notice odor of gas coming from right rear of car and seen a puddle of gas in lane . 11 Other Fuel System Pump problem

Failure Date: 06/30/2014

I noticed a strong smell of fuel coming from my vehicle, I took it to a mechanic who diagnosed it as a problem with my fuel pump. I looked online because I had heard of a recall associated with cars catching on fire due to a fuel pump defect and I believe my vehicle is affected by this same defect. I'm in urgent need of this being repaired but I'm being told that the problem with the fuel pump will not be covered given the recall is regional to specific states. I am disputing this as I don't understand why my vehicle can't be covered if it is experiencing the same defect that was identified in those states.

12 Other Fuel System Pump problem

Failure Date: 05/01/2014

In the morning of may 1, 2014, I went to the parking lot to get the Equinox to buy some groceries. When I was opening the door, I smelled gasoline. So I looked under the Equinox and saw a big wet spot under the fuel tank. I immediately brought the Equinox to an auto repair shop. It was found out that the fuel pump was leaking. So I bought a new fuel pump and the repair was finished on may 3, 2014. I would like to mention that on June 18, 2013, I brought the Equinox to the charles clark Chevrolet for inspection after I received a recall letter from general motors for the fuel pump that would like. After the inspection of the fuel tank and fuel pump, the dealer declared no leaks and found all within specs. I was misled because the fuel pump leaked. Being recalled, the dealer should have changed the fuel pump leaking or not and I would not have spent for the repair. I immediately filed reimbursement from the dealer and I was told that my claim was forwarded to general motors. Until now (8/22/14) I have not received any refund.

13 Other Fuel System Pump problem

Failure Date: 03/26/2014

I have a 2007 Chevrolet Equinox and started noticing a fuel smell coming from the rear of it as it gets worse after driving. I had a cobalt that had the recall on the fuel pump for the same issue so I looked into it and called a few local dealers and found out there is a recall on the Equinoxes for it as we'll but it is only in certain areas and mine does not fall into the category. I have also researched and found out a lot of other people are having the same issue but the recall is not being extended and it should be so now to make sure it doesn't catch on fire I am having to fix the problem myself and it is not cheap to do.

The contact owns a 2007 Chevrolet Equinox. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, fuel fumes were emitted into the vehicle. 15 Other Fuel System Pump problem

Failure Date: 09/27/2013

Noticed a strong smell of gas coming from the vehicle when parked. Had to move it out of garage as smell was extremely strong and spread throughout my two story home. I took car in to independent garage repair for service one mile from my home immediately on 09/27/2013 at 06:00 p. M. Closest dealership is nine miles from my home. Found that the plastic part of the fuel pump module was cracked and cost $545. 23 for a new fuel pump module and $350. 00 labor. Total cost including supply fees and tax, $942. 06. Found out there is a recall for this very same issue. I will be calling gm for reimbursement and can already envision their refusal as they claim they must inspect vehicle and do the repair. I live in texas and am the original purchaser of this vehicle in texas.

16 Other Fuel System Pump problem

Failure Date: 07/23/2013

Several heat waves in CT causing crack in fuel pump module. Not on recall list per gm however should be for any safety issue such as this. Smelled strong gas odor after driving home from work. Towed to dealer following morning -- afraid to drive, only to be told that the fuel pump module needed replacing. Definitely a gas leak. Not covered by recall like other states. Huge cost to fix.

17 Other Fuel System Pump problem

Failure Date: 07/13/2013

About 2 weeks ago I started smelling gas around and in my vehicle. After researching the data base I see that is not uncommon and I am very concerned as to why this is not being recalled. How many complaints need to be made? are they waiting for someone to be injured because their vehicle caught on fire due to this? this is a safety issue for sure. I did take my vehicle to the dealership and it is the fuel pump. Unfortunately I do not live in the states that the recall was issued for. I have had several issues with this vehicle and every one of them is a known common issue and none have been sent for recall. This is going to cost me more than I can afford to get it fixed. This should be a recall in all states not just a few!.

18 Other Fuel System Pump problem

Failure Date: 05/01/2013

The fuel pump module was leaking fuel, as discovered by my mechanic. The pump had to be changed at great expense. Why has this problem not been addressed across the board for Equinox, instead of selective state registered as mentioned in the gm recall ? I could have had a potential fire had I not detected fuel fumes when I did. Thank you,.

Fuel pump leak - again - still no florida recall - even though other states have recalled for same leak!.

21 Other Fuel System Pump problem

Failure Date: 03/25/2013

I began smelling fumes coming from the rear of the vehicle. It go so bad, I had to stop parking my car in my garage. I took the vehicle to the local chevy dealer, dale earnhardt Chevrolet on tennessee street in tallahassee, florida, and they confirmed that the fuel pump was on the recall. However, I was told that the 2007 chevy Equinox is listed under phase 2 of the recall and they are only dealing with the phase 1 vehicles. In addition, gm has not come up with the new fuel pumps to replace the bad ones. Thus, if I want it fixed, I would have to go to the napa store and purchase a fuel pump (I believe this would be a non-gm part) and then have then install it at a cost of over $1,100. 00 to me. I then contacted the home office for gm and the "district specialist", rod, told me that the engineers have determined that despite the nationwide recall, that the fuel pump will not be repaired or replaced. I advise dhim of all the on line documentation regarding the recall and he told me they don't read those or acknowledge those so I am out of luck. I asked for the phone number to the home office and he said no one knows it and that I could just contact them via their p. O. Box.

2007 Chevrolet Equinox registered in az, CA, nv are affected by recall because they may leak gas from fuel pump module. I own the same make, model, and year vehicle with a leaking fuel pump assembly but because my vehicle was not registered in one of the three states its not affected. As documented in the following formal - current notices, 2007 Equinox has a serious fuel leak problem from the fuel pump, which, as gm notes, may cause a fire if ignition source is present. // gm - chevy - recall id# 93254 // // gm - chevy - service bulletin # 12190 // // NHTSA campaign id number: 12v459000 // the problem is, they are not covering all vehicles. My 2007 chevy Equinox is leaking fuel from the fuel pump - but gm/chevy is not replacing, as my VIN is not covered.
