Tl the contact owns a 2010 Chevrolet Equinox. While driving 75 mph, the reduced engine power warning indicator illuminated and the vehicle independently decelerated to 15 mph. The contact stated that the failure was more prevalent during the colder months. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the throttle body needed to be cleaned. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The contact stated that the failure was intermittent. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 100,000.
As I was driving down a 4 lane highway, I suddenly lost power and the engine started clattering. I limped to the nearest exit, and that is where the car died. I had it towed to the nearest town, and then we put it on a trailer and took it to our mechanic. He said that it had blown a rod in the engine, and that it would need to be replaced for $6000+. There were no warning lights at all. I had been monitoring the oil level because I knew I was getting closer to a needed oil change. Even after this happened, we started it to drive it on and off the trailer, and there was still no oil light!!! all recalls had been done. As we had a 100,000 warranty, it was gone through very closely before that expired.
Oil comsumption, abs light want go off. Stableizer track light want go off and the dashboard light warning with the car and the wiggle lines wnat go off. Now my dashborad brake light is on. Every time I start the car up all these lights come on and I am afraid to drive it. I have had it coded but nothing comes up. And my ignition is starting to slip when I crank it . It does not matter if I am moving or not the lights still stay on.
I replaced the timing chain in June at my mechanic. . . I did not go to a dealer because I could not afford the $2000 they were asking to fix it. It is now the beginning of September and I am replacing the timing chain again. Why am I reading this website and seeing thousands of complaints regarding the Equinox timing chain and nothing has been done by gm. They should receive consequences for a faulty product. I called them to ask why there was not a recall when thousands of people are complaining of the same issue. They were very rude and would not offer any assistance.
1. Transmission went out. 2. Engine consumes all oil within 3,000 miles.
Tl- the contact 2010 Chevrolet Equinox. The contact stated while the vehicle was parked in a parking lot and caught fire. The fire originated from the engine. The fire was extinguished by the fire department. A fire report was filed. There was no injuries. The manufacturer was not contact about the failure. The failure mileage was 129,000. VIN not available. Hk.
Code p0300- cylinder #4 misfire, extreme blow by from internal failure. Went into complete shutdown on highway.
While driving, the car would not accelerate, pulled onto a street and put the car into park. Attempted again and the car slowly drove. Another incident, my son was driving and he said it just "wouldn't drive", luckily he was near a relatives house and pulled into the drive. He attempted to move the car and put it into reverse and it would not go into reverse. The car is now at a chevy dealer. Now this may not be deemed a "safety issue", but what is the issue, the car only has 65,000 and we are being told by chevy that the car needs a new transmission. At what point can a non-safety issue be deemed a recall. Apparently there is a bulletin regarding the chevy Equinox 2010, many many complaints, and chevy will not repair them. What can be done?.
I put in a new Cadillac converter and every time I turn around I have to change the O2 sensors bank1 02 sensor keeps giving me p034 & p054 in a permanent p0420 it gets very expensive changing the same repairs over and over again . This happen when I'm in motion ,the engine light comes on all the time .
Low oil, mixed with antifreeze. Engine light came on. Good to my mechanic, ended replacing the catalytic converters, water pum, spark plugs, battery.
On December 22nd, 2017 as my husband and I were traveling to our hometown from fort bragg, north carolina, our vehicle unexpectedly lost acceleration while driving on the highway at night. This was not only very scary, but also very dangerous. Imagine other vehicles whizzing by at 80mph at night and your car only wants to go a fourth of that. The screen read, reduced engine power. We were fortunate that no one ran into the back of our vehicle, before we could pull off on to the shoulder. The car was towed the remainder of the drive and then taken to flow Chevrolet mid January 2018. While at this dealership, we were given the following diagnosis codes, p0016 crankshaft position not plausible, p0089 fuel pressure regulator performance, p228d fuel pressure reg 1 performance, ebcm v0100-71 lost communication. The man helping us recommended that the pistons and rings/ timing chains be replaced for $5629. 67 or an engine swap for $9250. 76. Come to find out, this is a well-known issue with the 2010 Chevrolet Equinox and car forums all over the internet have complained about the exact same issues. How is there not a recall for this? this is highly unsafe!.
I was on the way to the store with my two children I pulled out of my drive way and the car didnt want to pull. I let off the gas and pushed the gas again I started thinking make it just had some trash or something cause the car did fine. I got to the store and pulled in the parking lot the car wouldn't move at all. I had it towed my the chevy place and they said that it was the inner transmission seeing that it has had otber transmission issue might want to take a look that the whole unit of the transmission. Thanks.

An independent mechanic replaced the transmission and the timing chain. Trapp Chevrolet in houma, louisiana was made aware of the failure. The manufacturer was also made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000.

Let me start off by saying that I am one of many having the same trouble with my 2010 chevy Equinox. On Jan. 21, 2015 I was hit by a young driver totaling my 2002 s10 crew cab. I feel this truck saved my life. In need of a safe vehicle I found myself at bowman Chevrolet purchasing a certified 2010 chevy Equinox with less than 41000 miles. At that time I received 24 months of oil changes/routine maintenance plus road side assistance and bumper to bumper for 12months. This vehicle seemed great till my first oil change and maintenance. In less than 3 months I took it in for service they said it couldn't be serviced. I apparently bought a canadian vehicle. Called bowman about the issue and was told to bring it back to them ( over an hr from home) at this time I mentioned a few things I felt were issues (my car would run on after shut off, would roll backwards in drive and shifting would pause between gears). About a month later I got my car back, new dashboard with a few scratches and a good chip in the windshield. Wasn't happy but they said all was good. Until the next time I had to take it in, still having run ons when I shut off the car and shifting problems along with a few minor things( I was told was not covered but should have been still under what I was promised by the 12 months bumper to bumper) over the next 21 months of my warranties I continued to have many issues with my car. Never fully fixed each time I took it in and being told many times they wont do the recalls because its on a canadian car not my now american car. On July 13, 2017 driving on 96 in construction and rush hr traffic with my grandson the transmission was losing gears at one point the car stopped abruptly. We barely made it home! drove it to dealer next morning only had 1st gear. Apparently this is a known problem. Help us all!.
Came out of the grocery store about 9pm on 6-28-17, and the car won't start. Had it towed to a local mechanic who evaluated that the timing chain on the ecotec engine has basically misaliigned and shredded parts in it's path, destroying the engine. . Read more...

Car looses power while driving.
Having transmission problems , it wont drive frontwards .
The contact owns a 2010 Chevrolet Equinox. While driving approximately 35 mph, the check engine warning indicator illuminated. The accelerator pedal was depressed and the vehicle started to decelerate with the engine rpms at 6,000 when the contact removed his foot from the accelerator pedal. In addition, the vehicle failed to reverse and the "d" on the instrument panel was blinking. The vehicle was taken to a dealer, but was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact also stated that onstar produced codes p0776 and p0700. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 79,300.
Takata recall my SUV keep turning off every time I make a stop on a red light or a stop sign or even when I am in traffic. I don't know what to do anymore I send it to every shop to try to fix some don't know the problem or others don't want to even try to fix it I even send it to cheney dealers and they think it was something else they change that part but still has the same problem I been spending a lot of money on this SUV that I just don't want to bother anymore. Please try to help me out. The bad think too is that I am still paying for this car and I asked the financial worker to help me and they don't care. We keep searching online what to do and I'm reading that these cars are recalls so please try to help me out. Thank you.
Multiple trips to the dealer. Solenoid problem, air bag, engine light on, broken chain, fuel pump injector, leaking sun roof, as of 3/6/2017 I need a transmission. My car was purchased in 2010, I only have 31,000 miles on it. Iv'e visited the dealer Jan, Feb, and March of 2017. I feel I should be compensated with a new car!!!! Jan, f car.
Cam chain broke second time.
The contact owns a 2010 Chevrolet Equinox. While stationary, the vehicle would not start when prompted. It was diagnosed that the vehicle needed a new engine. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 72,000.
2010 Chevrolet Equinox all of a sudden lost traction control and drop speed to 15 miles per hour. Error light came on stating "engine power reduction" and then "service ". Along with these error messages the icon for engine and stabilitrak came on after car lost most of its pwlower and traction. It was a cold night christmas 2016 but not as cold as other cities as we live in phoenix, az. Thankfully I was in our neighborhood when my 6 year old daughter and I lost power instead of being on the freeway but this is a major safety issue with these cars. I've recently read many complaints from Equinox owners who've dealt with this same issue. The dealership said it was the throttle body and solenoid valves and charged me $850. 00 for a repair that I truly feel needs to be under a recall given the safety issue of losing power and traction while driving without warning!!!.
My vehicle starts own its own and know I have the engine light on and the air conditioning turns on own its own!!!! please help.
I received a Chevrolet 2010 Equinox from bob's says yes super store in columbus, ohio in 2016. Two weeks later we had engine problems. We informed them and got a diagnostic and bob says yes informed me that nothing was wrong. A few weeks(approximately 4 weeks) go by and we take it back and bobs tells us that we had to pay for a diagnostic test. So we had the state of ohio attorney general office involved. Bob says yes agrees to a free diagnostic test and when they finally agreed to look into the problem they agreed to pay the $1000. 00 of the $1600. 00 of which $600. 00 we would have to pay. Later during the week I call bob says yes to get a update on the repairs and they inform me that they are going to replace the engine and the work cost more but they are not going to charge us more. Apparently if they are covering a recall then under the fact it is a recall I should not be paying anything so I will be contacting the ohio attorney general on this updated information.
While driving on i80 in rural PA engine started missing intermittently. When I exited the road to investigate the engine immediately started to run very rough and the information center was showing a problem with stabili-track - which made no sense since it was summer and the road was dry. After vehicle was shut off for awhile and restarted it seemed to run more smoothly. However, as I accelerated back up to highway speed the misfiring returned. We continued to limp along at a slower speed with emergency flashers operating while we searched by phone for the nearest gm dealer. After several different attempts gm roadside assistance was able to identify a dealer about 20 miles away. We successfully contacted them and reached their location where they were able to diagnose the problem as a failed #3 cylinder coil. A fix was completed and we were able to resume our trip. I estimate we drove about 60 miles pretty much in the middle of no whee on 3 cylinders before being able to find help. Two days later on the return leg of this same trip the windshield wipers also failed in a severe rain storm while in a several mile construction zone with no berm. Only a miracle prevented a multiple fatality multiple car accident. This was a well maintained vehicle with only 64,000 miles that had never previously had any significant problems.
Engine light on with 60000 miles, timing chain code, known issue and gm wanted $4000. 00 to fix. Changed all timing gears and tentioners in December of 2017.
The contact owns a 2010 Chevrolet Equinox. The contact stated that while driving 60 mph, smoke began to emit from the vehicle without warning. The vehicle was diagnosed and the contact was informed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 62,000. The VIN was not available.
Engine sputters and is very noisy when at idle. Also, it consumes oil at an alarming rate.
While operating vehicle, (anywhere between idling to travelling 40 mph) the "service stabilitrak" message will appear on console between tachometer and speedometer. Driving the vehicle any further will cause the instrument panel glitch, and all readings will go to zero (tach, speed, temp) while engine is still running. Further operation will create sudden jerks in the transmission until the transmission goes to third gear and remains until engine is cut off. After cutting off engine and trying to restart, the instrument panel will go directly to "service stabilitrak" message and the engine won't turn over. Have had the vehicle towed three times on separate occasions after not starting back up. Have already spent over $2k is different diagnosis and repair/replace actions. Considering that this website has 8 separate service bulletins concerning the "service stabilitrak" and 11 different complaints concerning "stabilitrak", this is an ongoing and common issue. I have a workmate that had a GMC (same generation, not sure of year) that had similar issues with "service stabilitrak" to the point of dumping the vehicle to get something more reliable.
My Equinox engine light came up while driving in the highway, I hear a noise in the engine every time I accelerate, and the truck would shake a bit, put the SUV in the machine and got a p0300 code for misfire, the coils and sparkplugs where loose and out of place for the second time in less than seven months.
Tl-the contact owns a 2010 Chevrolet Equinox. The contact stated that while attempting to start the vehicle using the key remote, it failed to start. The failure recurred twice. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer or diagnosed. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The VIN was not provided. The approximate failure mileage was 63,000. Ak.
My wife and children were driving our Chevrolet Equinox on the highway coming off of an on ramp when the vehicle started to make some noise. Trying to turn left, the vehicle stopped in the middle of the intersection, mind you, in heavier traffic, and would not move. Obviously this is a safety issue itself, what if this would have happened on the highway and caused a fatal accident?? thankful this was not the outcome, but stuck in the middle of an intersection cause safety issues itself. I ovi checked the issue through a local repair auto parts store, transmission issues. I had a second opinion placed with a local repair shop and was told that the transmission was blown out. Our transmission was destroyed. I was told that in this model, a plate that gm used for this vehicles transmission breaks and destroys the transmission. Being stranded in the middle of the highway is a safety issue, being stuck in the middle of an intersection is a safety issue,.
