I was out and about drive the vehicle to destination, turned off as I do before going in to any place. I can out and the vehicle would not start. After adjusting the steering wheel and messing with the gear shifter it started. Acted as if the battery was dead. It standed me for about 45 mins. Now the car acts as if it doesn't want to start and while driving if I turn to the right the radio goes out and power steering cuts out then once out of the turn it works. This is very dangerous while turning, now in either direction this vehicle has been nothing but problems.

Received this notice on 9/23/2020 with less that 400 miles driven, booked appointment with service and had battery replaced under warranty because of 1. 5 hour required test determined it was bad. Today, 9/30/2020 with less that 50 additional miles driven, I received the message again. Message received from onstar is as follows. Dear henry willcox, your 2020 Chevrolet Equinox detects a battery shorted cell. The battery is needed to start the vehicle. To avoid a situation where you can't start your vehicle, please schedule service with your preferred service provider as soon as possible, so they can replace your battery. You can still drive your Chevrolet but it may become harder to start. And if the battery does fail, you will not be able to start the vehicle. Please disregard this message if your vehicle is already in for service (as this could be a false notification if the vehicle is in for service and the service being performed affects this component). Service code sac001 will be booking second service appointment for first opportunityasap.

Vehicle battery dies, car dies. No them or reason to it. It will not start. Battery is less than a year old. Try to start the vehicle and nothing, no interior lights radio, nothing. Other times it will let the interior lights come on and just clicks. This is after the car has sat for 2-3 days and not driving or going anywhere due to the corona virus. Went out the next day, started fine. We even tried jumping the car off from another vehicle and it wouldn't even clicked it was trying to start. This has happened multiple times over the last year. Resulting in replacing the battery. Now it's still happening and the battery is less than a year old.

I purchased a new replacement battery from Chevrolet in November 2018. On may 21. 2019, with only 3,670 miles on the new battery, the car would not start. The car was towed to the dealer, and was charged. The dealer explained that if I do not drive the car 30 miles a day, the battery will not maintain a charge after three or four days. For the last two years, I have driven this vehicle less than 30 miles a day and never had this problem. The dealer suggested that I buy a battery tender for the car but I have no access to a 110 volt plug. In December 2019, I am going to texas and my car will be parked at the airport for five days and I am afraid that the battery will be dead when I return. I searched the internet and saw that this is a problem amongst 2014 Equinox owners. General motors confirmed that this is an issue. General motors should inform owners of this issue and recommend a solution.

The battery just died but the scary part was that the door didnt open, neither the windows. I was locked inside my car for approximately 10 minutes, also the key switch did not work, the ignition key did not cooperate in releasing the key.
Bought my 06 eqinox in may of 2015. Day 2, battery died. Dealer put new battery in. Next week, battery dead and took out stereo with it. Dealer replaced battery and stereo. Now having trouble starting again. Have replaced brake pads and rotors twice on rear wheels and front once. Car makes grinding noise still when backing with foot on the brake. Abs and tc lights came on may of 2017. Had checked out and needed front right wheel speed sensor replaced. Replaced it and light stayed on. Had it rechecked and it still reads the same. No brakes. Pedal stutters on the way down and then has to be forced down the rest of the way to stop the car. Had mechanic look at it and was told to replace abs module. We did and I finally have brakes again but now my break light is on along with the abs/tc lights. Car has sunroof. Had car 2 years and all of a sudden my back floor is flooded. Thought the kids spilled water. Nope. Soaked a beach towel cleaning it up. Next hard rain, flooded again. Lines are clogged and backing up into my car. Two beach towels and two gallons later of water vacuumed up and my padding is damp and still stinks like mildew. This car is badly designed. The brake situation is very dangerous. Luckily there was an empty turn lane beside me when it rained or I would have hit the car in front of me. The brake pedal would go to the floor when turning and wouldnt stop on straightaways. The electrical wiring in the drivers side door is jacked up too. Can't unlock the doors, turn on dome light and doesn't shut off radio.

Takata recall. . . My vehicle has an intermittent issue of a slow to no crank when the vehicle is being started. Onstar sent the following message: your 2015 Chevrolet Equinox detects a battery shorted cell. My odometer reads 39,000 thus voiding any warranty coverage of up to 36,000. The vehicle is only 1-1/2 years old, purchased new. Online research has indicated that this has been an ongoing issue with the Chevrolet Equinox for the 2015 models as well as many other model years. Gm has been unable to identify the root cause of their battery issues. It appears that something is causing a draw on the system and gm has not been able to identify the issue.
The contact owns a 2006 Chevrolet Equinox. When the ignition was turned to the on position, the ignition failed to turn without warning. sometimes, the contact was unable to place the key in the ignition or remove the key from the ignition. Also, the vehicle overheated and the temperature gauge increased. When the vehicle was turned off, the engine fan ran for an hour afterward, which caused the battery to fail. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 160,000. .
"takata recall . I was on my phone using the bluetooth. Then I received another call and took call. My other party hung up the line and once I was done with the call I hung up but on the display it showed as if I was still on my phone. Cut my car off still nothing happened. I went so far as resting my radio and phone features. . . . Still nothing. So when I home the light and display stayed on and when woke up the next morning battery dead . . . . Mind you this is a 2015 not even 3 or 4 months since I bought it. Took the car in after I had to get a jump start. The dealership kept my car for a few days to tell me nothing is wrong. But as I did some research I see other chevy Equinox owner's are having the same issues. What is going to be done??.
The front lights on the car comes on at night when car is parked in the driveway, not being used by persons. This car may not start in the morning because the battery maybe dead, due to lights coming on by it self. We had the defective switch replaced in the past week, and that's when the lights started to act up.

Engine lost power in the middle of driving 60 mph down to 20 mph, could not accelerate, fuses went off, according to the dealership, yesterday 01/25/2016 from a regular oil change maintaince another mechanic said axle is leaking as well as the pan leaking they need to replace seals. Week one battery died, twice same week, even wipers came off.
A few months ago my husbands mother drove his 2005 chevy Equinox to the store and the battery died. They jumped the car and everything has been fine until a few days ago. We had to jump start my husbands car a few days ago and that is when he said something about the cd player staying on after the car was off. When you listen to the cd player it sounds like player is trying to eject a cd but it wont and eventually it says on the screen "cd changer error. " it even does this when the vehicle is turned off so it ends up killing the battery. My husband has to unplug the fuse for the cd player or it drains his battery. And still having it unplugged the vehicle has a hard time starting because it is like it can no longer hold a charge. When we mentioned this to my husband's mother she said when it died the time she drove it had said the same thing. I have searched this problem online and many people have the same complaint. One person said that they even replaced the cd player multiple times and every few months it does the same thing. We are going to take the vehicle to the chevy dealership here and see what they say, but I really feel this is a problem that needs to be looked into because I do not have the money to buy cd players and batteries every few months. The Equinox came out in '05 and it sounds to me like this is an error that they did not fix before production.
I have went through 3 wheel bearings, 2 carrier bearings which took 3 weeks to get from dealer so car was laid up. , 2 stabilizer bars, all wiring was corroded and had to be replaced, battery goes dead if door is open for 15 minutes. Sun roof has rattled from day one. Paint is chipping off lift gate and inside back door from day one. Warranty would not cover. My 2005 Equinox is a big piece of junk!!!.
