Alternator/generator/regulator Problems of Chevrolet Equinox

The contact owns a 2018 Chevrolet Equinox. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle, the "service battery charger" message was displayed. The vehicle was taken to the local mechanic who replaced the alternator, but the failure persisted. Additionally, while depressing the brake pedal, the pedal felt spongy, and the vehicle failed to immediately stop. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The failure mileage was approximately 159,000.

Car runs fine and parked in garage overnight. Wale up in morning to go about my business, car won't start - produces the infamous clicking sound. Battery tested good and so did the alternator; had them both checked where I bought the battery. (picture attached of alternator test). Now, my wife is afraid of getting stranded somewhere - and isn't comfortable driving the car.

Date of incident: 10/17/2020. Check battery light came on and the vehicle's alert message indicated the car was in �battery saving mode�. No previous indicators had appeared to inform that there was a battery issue. A short while later, all power to the vehicle stopped while driver was on a highway. The alternator in the vehicle went out. This has happened to enough vehicles with this alternator model that all parts stores in duluth, mn and superior, WI were out of parts. Additionally, the manufacturer has also been out of stock with this alternator, indicating that there is a flaw with this part. With such little (and inaccurate) warning, this was an incredibly dangerous situation to be in.

While driving vehicle doors are locking and unlocking themselves, radio and heat turns off and on, blinkers not working,headlights flash on and off by themselves, airbag, stability control and abs flash on and off on dash. Rpm and speedometer are at zero while driving and accelerating, gas hand shows on low fuel when there's gas on the car. Took to have vehicle scanned and alternator is reading at too high voltage and revived 15 error codes all relating to speed sensor, engine and transmission control model malfunction, power train control module and camshaft position circuit errors etc.

This vehicle frequently loses charge on battery battery and alternator are new. Vehicle has less than 70k miles also throws up computer codes radio turns on and off when it wants to. I purchased it used with 40k miles and has been a problem since. I have quotes for over 2k in repairs and was told at time of purchase all recalls were cared for. Was purchased certified preowned from a dealership. Every time I fix something there's another problem.

2012 Chevrolet Equinox - 43,600 miles. Driving normally along a residential road and all inside electrical begin flashing like a strobelight. Vehicle dies soon after. Taken to mechanic, analysis done and faulty alternator is the culprit. Gm claims vehicle is out of warranty and I have to pay for repair out of pocket. After less than 1. 5 years of ownership (and buying brand new), already have to replace a major electrical component.

I put key into ignition and turned toward the start position and key went about halfway and stopped and all lights and dashboard went black,all electrical power went off. The car would not give me the key back. It was stuck in the ignition for about 1 1/2 hours until ers arrived. I tried pressing the brake and turning the steering wheel but it would still not give me the key. Meanwhile, the dash board starting flashing on and off and I heard a constant clicking noise. I called emergency roadside assistance and they came and gave me a boost and car started right up with no problems. My battery and alternator are completely fine.

Put key into key switch and turn toward start position and key went about halfway and stopped and all lights and dashboard went black,all electrical power went off. Finially after moving steering wheel and moving key back and forth was able to pull key out of ignition switch. Then when I put key back into ignition switch and tried to start car all I heard was a click,click so battery was dead,called ers and they came and gave me a boost and car started right up with no problems and service rep. Checked battery and alternator and they were operating fine. Called my dealership where I bought car and told them what happened but they never had a problem like that so they were no help. I called g. M. And talked to them but they never lyheard of that problem either so here I am with a car that has a problem which no one has heard of. .

Vehicle lights for service stabilitrac, engine and alternator will be lit on dash. Car hesitates upon acceleration. Car was checked by dealer but they unable to correct the problem.

The contact owns a 2007 Chevrolet Equinox. The contact stated that while driving, the vehicle emitted a strong fuel odor. The vehicle was taken to the dealer several times for the fuel failure. The dealer inspected the vehicle but was unable to locate the fuel failure. In addition, the sun-roof seal was defective and causing water to penetrate the interior of the vehicle. As a result, the interior light would not provide proper illumination. The dealer advised that the sun-roof could not be repaired and the interior lighting failure could have been caused by a faulty alternator. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 69,000 and current mileage was 78,000.

Bought my 2006 Equinox lt awd and two months later I was out of town took my car to the car wash and came out of it and my car went into limp mode. Tried to restart it and the same thing happened I tried to drive but could not go any more than 20 mph parked the car and had it towed to a NY dealership. They told me the car was running lean codes came up got it to start at the end of the day and I was on my way. Brought it back to my original dealer and they could not find a problem. Changed a gas pedal, fuel pump. About 7 months later pulling out of my driveway and my car just stalled brought it in could not diagnose the problem. Another couple of months later out of town in a major intersection in the rain with a full car my car died no power pulled over luckily and turned the key and it started up again. At another point in time I noticed that under the dash board on the passenger side water was coming in when there was a heavy rainfall. I too reported this an no answer. I also had problems with starting my car I would either have a hard start or it would stick so they replaced the alternator at my cost. It is so frustrating talking to the mechanics they make you think you are losing your mind but now reading these problems I think I might have damage to my computer. Oh yeah here is one more problem I have the light on my heat knob is out and they tell me in order to fix the problem I have to purchase a whole new compartment there is no fuse or light the whole area needs to get pulled out and replaced labor plus part 600. 00 no thanks.

I have had issues with this vehicle since a few months after the original purchase. The problems started with a load knocking noise that originated from the rear of the vehicle, after 5 attempts to fix at the dealership, they eventually ended up replacing the entire rear axel and all components. After this issue was resolved, the brakes began making a high pitched squealing noise that gets progressively worse each day. The brakes have been inspected and do not need replacement. Sounds like some parts may dislodge from the vehicle. There is also an issue with starting the vehicle. At random times, the vehicle will not turn over when cranked to start. The car is currently in the shop to try and resolve the brake noises and starting issue. The vehicle has been in the shop at least 10 times. Would like to have the vehicle purchased back by chevy.

Second, while depressing the brake pedal the vehicle intermittently did not slow down. The brake pedal was pumped several times to get the brakes to activate correctly. Third, the transmission revved high and intermittently did not change gears correctly while driving. Fourth, the abs lamp illuminated intermittently. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the abs lamp was reset. Lastly, the front passenger window was rolled down and would not rise back up. The dealer replaced the window regulator and the window was repaired. The vehicle was repeatedly taken to the dealer and addressed the problems that could be duplicated and made appropriate repairs. Hard start/hesitation and almost stalling. Also, determined speed sensor was causing reduced power.
