Software Problems of Chevrolet Equinox

The infotainment in the vehicle does not work properly. It is hit or miss. Either it will work and I will not see any issues or it wont work. The sound will not work which then does not allow for the turn signal noise to work. The ac fan is not showing on when it is. The software on this device is very glitchy.

I was driving with my wife and dog in the car late at night in cold iciey conditions in wyoming. Car began to lose power dramatically, steering was tight, lights dimmed, also engine stalled after a bit a of a slide and safely pulling over. We could have wrecked in the middle of nowhere in the icey cold temperatures. Engine light was one. Traction control light was on. Dash reads 'service stabilitrak' and 'engine power reduced !'. I could not get the car to quit stalling. I wasn't safely able to drive it. So I then did a ecu reset. (disconnect ecu and battery). Sat for 20 minutes. Restarted and still same problem after it idled rough for 5 minutes roughly. So next I disconnected the ecu fuse number 42 in the engine fuse box. I then turned key in first position and had same readings. Next I reset the code with my obd scan tool. Repeated the fuse method again. . . Still same reading but without starting the motor once during this. . . . My guess is the ecu is volitil to this vehicle motor class. Service bulletin states it needs a reflash. Updates for engine oil consumption as well. Very interesting as we consume too much oil. I believe all motor issues in our vehicle we have now (worn piston rings etc) are due to a faulty ecu. The fact that the warning shows when reset and not connected because the fuse is removed proves to me the ecu is having software issue in rendering proper diagnostics as well as safe engine performance. This incident took place in August of 2017. Problem still persists in dry climates where we live in texas. Same issues. Same symptoms. New sensors, battery, spark plugs and oil change regularly. This vehicle is unsafe and will take lives if not recalled. Imagine driving on ice with your kids inside and then your steering goes out and the engine loses power and brakes. . . . Is that what it will take?.

The vehicle was taken to the al cera dealer where it was diagnosed that a software update was needed in the pscm. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer stated that they would not cover a software update and the case would be forwarded. The VIN was invalid. The failure mileage was approximately 53,000.

The contact owns a 2005 Chevrolet Equinox. While driving various speeds, the key ejected from the ignition while the vehicle was running. The contact mentioned that any key could start the vehicle, not just the manufacturer's key. The contact also stated that the vehicle would independently accelerate. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where the alternator and battery were changed. The independent mechanic suggested a software update for the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 128,000.

Tl-the contact owns a 2010 Chevrolet Equinox. Contact stated that the system over heat light illuminated on the instrumental panel advising that the vehicle had overheated however the thermostat indicator advised that the coolant system was operating as normal. The vehicle was taken to the dealer to have a diagnostic performed which was unable to locate a failure code. However the dealer replaced the water pump, the thurmostat, the timing chain, the fuel lines, and software was updated. However, the repair did not correct the failure. The manufacturer was notified. The failure mileage was 80,000. Li.

I purchased my 2013 chevy Equinox new. Within months the radio turned off while I was driving, the display screen went black, and then came back on to the chevy link display. This would happen whether or not the radio was on. The dealership where I purchased the vehicle replaced the center stack; not once, but twice. As a note, I was told that other drivers with this issue reported the car turning itself off when the screen went black. I have also paid $150 for �software updates� when the car seemed to �lose its settings� after it was out of warranty. Six years later the issue persists, including loss of bluetooth capability for several days, and the clock always runs 2 minutes slow. I can reset the time, but each time the car is restarted, the time is incorrect. The car has also experienced loss of �blinker sound� when the turn signal is on. The signal works, the light is working on the dash, but there is no sound.

2010 chevy Equinox. Consumer states vehicle "powered down" the consumer stated the dashboard read obd2 malfunction indicator lamp service required and the stabili-trak light illuminated. The consumer stated she then received a recall letter regarding the software in the center instrument panel which could cause the heating, air condition, defroster, radio control as well as the panel illumination to become inoperative. The consumer stated the lights were in fact flickering and then the entire instrument panel went out, powered on a little and then dimmed again.

I bought a 2007 chevy Equinox new. A couple of days after taking it home a strange problem started occurring, an electrical problem between the left speakers and the directionals. A loud rapid noise would suddenly come through the left speakers as I was driving and would continue until I used the turn signal (either direction). I had the vehicle back to the dealer numerous times. First I was told there was an intermittent short in the radio, but the radio replacement did not fix the problem. Then the left tweeter speaker was changed, the radio recalibrated (three times), the radio software updated, and finally the body control module changed. None of these things fixed the problem. The gm engineer looked at it twice and still couldn't solve the problem. I was told no other gm product in the entire country had the same problem as my vehicle. When I went to the general manager of the dealership and told him of the problem and that the vehicle was a lemon, he contacted the gm district rep, who refused to replace the vehicle. I was forced to take gm to arbitration, and now I am getting my money back plus my filing fee. The problem is a safety issue and significantly impairs the value of the vehicle. I am turning the Equinox in next week, taking my money and buying a Honda cr-v. I would not advise anyone to buy an Equinox after my experience, and especially gm's attitude. In fact, I will never buy another gm product. If you have had your Equinox to the dealer at least 4 times for the same problem and are still getting the run around and no resolution, first write to the chevy customer assistance center for help in repairing the vehicle. You will need to do this in order to request a replacement vehicle or a repurchase. Second, don't let gm keep stringing you along. File for arbitration under your state's lemon law program. It'll come to that anyway. Please, read the reviews and the auto blogs about this vehicle on line. Even the newest models rate poorly.
