I have replaced the battery. Car runs good but every few weeks the car will not start even after I have been driving it daily. Something draws on the battery. Always afraid to go somewhere and it will all of a sudden not start. Everything else on car checks out. There is something wrong with it electrically drawing. I see many people have the same problem.

07 Equinox vehicle wouldn't start, key stuck in ignition. Tried wiggling steering wheel which was not locked and would not lock. The key would not come all the way back in order to get it out. Car was in park at home thank god. Tried everything I know even looked it up on google. There were so many complaints on this about 07 Equinox key stuck and some vehicles would start and lots more wouldnt?? we tried to do start but it did not turn over. We had to put on a charger and monitor the battery to see if it would charge. Later that night I took the vehicle off the charger and tried it and it started. Went and had battery checked at advance auto and they said battery has no problems fully charged. How can that be what is causing this. I seen online many, many, complaints on this Equinox issue and it is a safety issue. What happens if it decides to just stop working on the interstate going 65-75 mph. Someone could get serious injured killed if they lose power all of a sudden. No lights were left on, nothing was left on causing the vehicle to drain the battery all of a sudden. The key was not left in the vehicle I went to start it and key stayed stuck in ignition and turned over but nothing no power. If you lose power driving you lose power steering. Power brakes, and it takes a while to get vehicle to a stop. Even using parking brake which most people would panic and forget to try n get vehicle stopped and crash into and cars or pedestrians for that matter if power goes out while driving at any speed. This need to be recalled and figure out what is causing this problem. I had to recharge battery myself. It checked out as good battery fully charged? no previous incidents on this matter thank god. Should recall all 07 Equinox and have electrical system checked.

While driving on I-95 in palm beach county florida, in heavy traffic, I came to a stop and the car automatically shut off. This is what is supposed to happen. However, when I took my foot off the brake the car did not restart. When that happened the entire car went dead. I could not turn on the hazzard signal, I could not lock or unlock the doors, onstar would not work. I put the car in park and tried to restart the car. Nothing at all happened. I then tried to put the car in neutral, but it would not shift to neutral. I then tried onstar again, but even though the green light was on, nothing happened. I got out of the car so that if it got hit, I would not be hurt. The car was in the right driving lane of an extremely busy highway and I could not get it off the road.

About 3 weeks ago I went to start my Equinox with the key and when I put it in the ignition my vehicle would not start at all. The vehicle was parked on a city street. Then the beginning of December I had gone over a little bump and my dash started showing up with warning lights saying service stabiliz and all-wheel drive off.

Stopped at the gas station and the car would not restart. Several times the car died while on a busy highway. When I try to start the car the windshield wipers go back and forth 3 times and all power is there but engine is totally dead. Sometimes after several tries and a few hours later the car will start. I have had 4 mechanics, 3 were dealers, and nobody could tell me what was going on. . . . . And yet I was charged 3 out of 4 times. My husband spoke to 2 street mechanics and both without hesitation said it is the pcm computer. After much research and continued problems I am now ordering a new pcm and installing it myself. There is also a ticking sound which seems to baffle the mechanics. And the car consumes tons of oil. Unfortunately I am seeing that there are so many chevy Equinox owners out there having these same issues and Chevrolet is not helping. Shame on you Chevrolet!.

Car will throw codes p0700/u0073/u1000 - looses engine power, check stabilitrak lights up, check engine light comes on. Car will buck, odometer/rpm gauge/temp gauge will become erratic. Took to the chevy dealership, unable to replicate problem. Unsafe to drive. Doesn't happen daily - sometimes car will not start/unable to drive.
Tl the contact owns a 2016 Chevrolet Equinox. While driving various speeds, the instrument panel went black. The vehicle was taken to moss bros. Auto group (12625 auto mall drive, moreno valley, California 92555, (951) 485-3500) to be diagnosed, but the failure could not be duplicated. Afterwards, the power steering seized and the vehicle stalled without warning. The contact stated that the vehicle would not restart when prompted. The vehicle was towed to tom bell Chevrolet (800 alabama street, redlands, California 92374, (909) 283-0690) where it was determined that the vehicle exhibited "low voltage". The battery was replaced in 2016. The contact stated that the diagnostic trouble codes were erased; therefore, the dealer could not duplicate the "low voltage" failure reading. Additionally, an alarm sounded, the seat belt warning indicator illuminated, and the instrument panel gauge readings were inconclusive. The manufacturer was made aware of the failures and provided case number: 8-4836904116. The failure mileage was 10,155.

This is the 4th incident. While driving a warning "service power steering" and "service stability track". Engine reduced power to below 25mph while on an interstate. After pulling over and turning off the vehicle it would not restart. Had it towed home. It restarted a few hours later with no codes even though I did nothing to fix it.
Car would not start. Charged battery up car started. Inside controls would not work. Sommers dealership charged me $800. 00 to put a brand new blower motor in. Blower motor stopped working and now service power steering light comes on.

Tl- the contact owns a 2010 Chevrolet Equinox. The contact stated that upon starting his vehicle, the vehicle would not start without warning. The contact notified a dealer(wally edgar Chevrolet 3805 s lapeer rd, orion charter township, mi 48360 248-494-8698) of the failure and was informed that his vehicle would be covered under a power train warranty. The contact purchased an electrical box from the dealer to repair the engine failure; however, this box did not assist with the failure. The contact stated that the failure occurred again four days later without warning. The contact had stated that since owning the vehicle the contact has had the engine, fuel pump, electric line, doors, and the windshield wipers replaced. The manufacturer had been notified of the failure and offered no assistance. The vehicle had not been repaired. The failure mileage was 70,000. Jo.

The car didn't start after parking for food pickup, we noticed that after getting a boost, the 'engine light' was lit, it stayed on. This happened twice again, but we used our insurance road side assistance, again the 'engine light' remained lit. This has happened multiple times, whereas we purchased a battery charger. During drive/ waiting at multiple red lights, and backing out of parking spaces, the car stalls- to the point we put it 'n', after experiencing stalls when placed in 'p'. The oil can be low, but no indicator on the panel, but the panel reads check electrical system, so we took it to a shop and informed it was the battery, seeking another opinion, we were told it wasn't the battery, but another part of the electrical system. Upon trying to have the car inspected, we were turned down due to the 'engine light'. We went to a reputable car part dealer, and informed it was the timing chain, timing sensor, along with (2) two other codes. The battery is hid under a housing/ cover, which made it hard to get a boost, when the recommended charging procedure didn't work. This is very frustrating, and research leads us to understand, that a costly repair is ahead. Plus, our research of the experienced problems, shows that they occurred in earlier models. The (2013)vehicle was purchased from a national car rental agency, Nov 2015, is it possible that this vehicle was defective at purchase time, with unresolved issues as earlier models? additionally, the car has veered/ jerked to either side, from stop to go, and while driving, without us turning the wheel. Thank the lord the latter, occurred at low speeds, and dry pavement. The 'when did this happen' date is the latest date, not the only date.
Tl-the contact owns a 2011 Chevrolet Equinox. The contact stated that the after the ignition key was turned to the on position, the vehicle failed to start. The vehicle was restarted after several attempts and getting the battery recharged. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 60,500. Ss.

1. While driving in nashville for work the first occurrence started with check engine light. Moments later check traction control warning popped up and immediately after a reduced engine power notification and vehicle lost power. Went from 55 to 30 mph in seconds. I have no clue how this did not cause a wreck in the heavy traffic. I took the vehicle to the dealership I purchased it from (james corlew in clarksville, TN) and they told me it was a loose timing chain and that they fixed it. 2. 4,000 miles later while working all the same messages popped up and the car completely stalled and would not restart on a busy bypass. Vehicle would not restart and I paid to have it towed. This time the dealership said they had to replace the entire timing chain assembly and a housing due to it being destroyed. It was covered by warranty again and they serviced it for free. 3. Vehicle ran great for 3600 miles and again the same message sequence occured. The car fortunately continued to run and I drove it straight to the dealership. I insisted it was a safety hazard and that I wanted to trade it in immediately. 2 hours later they offered me $7,000 under blue book because of engine problems. This was very funny of course since it is Chevrolet and the dealerships fault for selling such a lemon. I told them it was under warranty. To fix it again for free and I would pick it up. Dealership called next day. Said everything was fine. It was out of oil and that caused safeties to kick in and that created the problem. I ask how this is possible you changed my oil 3600 miles ago. 4. Last week (again 3800 miles later) the car produced all of the same messages and stalled on the same busy bypass. This time I had my 3 year old and 1 year old in the car. The speed limit is 55 so of course traffic regularly runs 60 mph. I was stranded with my children on 20 degree weather with no heat.

The lights in the interior of my car go out intermittently. I have been driving down the highway going 70mph and without warning the car just died on me, I had to have someone push me off the highway because the car would not start. I waited about 10 mins and it started up again. The collision senor goes off when there is nothing around the car and boggs down the car while driving. I have taken it to 2 different shops and they can not get the problem to duplicate. They have had my car since before thanksgiving and gave it back to me the week of christimas. I drove it and had no problems until that Friday on my way home from work crossing over a busy intersection the collision alert started ringing and the senor is off and the car died in the middle of the road. I was able to get it started right away and get out of the intersection. I took it back to the shop and they still can't get the problem resolved. I say the gm obviously has electrical issues with their cars, because reading others complaints about the same issues. This is a major safety issue!.
2006 Chevrolet Equinox. Now has 095431 miles on it and this started around the 83k miles point. Key will not rotate from off position to on position, thus the car can not be started and this ha. This appears to be a known problem with several Chevrolet vehicles utilizihappened multiple time. Ng the same ignition cylinder; however Chevrolet has failed to address please advise.
On Saturday may 25, 2013 my 2007 Chevrolet Equinox would not start. The key had gotten stuck in the ignition and I did not remove it and I think that killed the battery. I tried to jump start the car with no success. Finally on Sunday may 26,2013 I had a professional come jump start it. After it started the power steering went out and the stabilitrak warning light came on. This has never happened before and I don't know what's causing it. I read in the forum that there were several other Equinox's with the same problem. I think it should be a recall.
Car will not start unless I change the rear brake fuse. When I change it, it continues to blow out. .
Car was parked and my daughter went to leave to come home and car would not start. We tried to jump it, but it still would not start. I believe it may be a pass lock issue.
The car will not start, the battery was tested to be good. The fan will run after the vehicle is turned off. Which in turn drains the battery. Would have to jump start the car. This would work for a few days and have to jump start it again. The mechanic do not understand and will have to see it happen again to understand the problem. All systems show no error messages. This has to an electrical problem with the fan and battery.
The Equinox failed to start up. I waited and tried to start it again and this time gave it a little bit of gas and it started right up. From my research this is an ongoing problem with 2005 Equinox.
Tl- the contact owns a 2005 Chevrolet Equinox. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to start intermittently. The contact mentioned that the key released from the ignition cylinder while the vehicle was in motion. Also, the contact mentioned that the a strong odor of fuel emitted from the ventilation system. The dealer and the manufacturer were made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The VIN was not available. The failure mileage was 88,000. Pam.
I was reading through other complaints and I had the same issue as everyone else a year ago. My 2006 Equinox was blowing out cold air. I took it in to get fixed (while still under warenty) and had to pay about $900. Well, about $750 for labor. They said since it's regular wear & tear I had to pay for it. I've never even heard of it before. The had to take off my entire dash board! it was just a piece of plastic that broke off that door behind all the controls. I actually got on here because recently my safety/auto theft light keeps coming on while I'm driving! the other day my car wouldn't even start and I don't know if this has to do with it or not! has anyone else been having these problems? is it a big deal? help?.
Currently my vehicle will not start. It seems that the battery is fine as all of the electronics in the vehicle are working, including radio/door locks. When the key is turned all of the electronics just "click" and the motor does nothing. This happened just after christmas this past year as well. Luckily at that time I was at my parents house and though jump starting it would not work, we were able to charge the battery for about 6 hours and then it started. I have also had numerous problems with my radio (actually all sound in the car - including turn signals) that randomly just dont work or that when the car is started blast sound for about 30 seconds before the radio returns to normal - but the signals still produce a wierd, somewhat echoing sound when they do click. I have taken it to the dealer but they are unable to recreate the problem and send me on my way.
I own a 2006 chevy Equinox. Purchased the car back in August 2009 and a few days after buying the vehicle the car wouldn't start. I would turn the key to turn the car on and it wouldn't completely turn over and it would "stick," causing me to turn the car back to off. After attempting to start the car the first time, the second time would usually work. Now, it's getting to the point where the car won't turn over without pressing the gas, if I don't press the gas the engine won't start at all. I can turn the key on and off; 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 times but it refuses to start without the gas (I'm worried I'm going to flood the engine now). This happens randomly during anytime of day and during any weather conditions, sometimes it doesn't even happen for days/weeks then suddenly the problem comes back and its worse. This is getting ridiculous especially with a car with only 70,000 miles on it. No dealer will help me because the car will never act up for them. I really don't know what to do and I am running out of options. I don't want to be left stranded because gm won't help anyone with a problem a lot of people are having with the same year and car!.
I have a 2005 Equinox the first model year for this vehicle. I ordered the car new from the factory. At random times when I turned the key in the ignition the vehicle would not immediately start. At other times the car would not immediately shut off when the key was turned off. On may 3, 2009 the vehicle just "died" it would not turn on. I have just over 40000 miles on the vehicle. The electrical goes in and out since the engine will not start. The theft deterrent system seems to be the only thing that works, as it keeps resetting itself after the door is open and closed. I do hear sounds of some type similar to a computer trying to reset or kick in. I tried to jumpstart the vehicle but that did nothing. The engine will just not turn over. Towing it to the dealer tomorrow. Of course this is a major hazard since it was so random, without any real warning today, as I had driven it only 10-15-minutes before and had just returned home and was attempting to move car so that I could cut the lawn and it was inoperable.
Issue started around in early 2007 that every once in a while the vehicle wouldn't start on the first attempt. Now in 2008 this happens more frequently. When I go to start the car it sounds like it tries to start then the engine light lets me know I did not crank the car. Occurs more so after I have had to run errands and start the car a number amount of times in a shorter period of time. I have taken to the gm dealer and have had it checked a number of time. They have cleaned the injectors, reflashed the computer, and updated the computer to the latest levels. The answer is always the same no codes generated no problem found.
It started around the summer of 2007 that every once in a while the car wouldn't start on the first attempt. As it got closer to the end of the year and now into the beginning of 2008 this happens a lot more. When I go to crank the car it sounds like it tries to start then the engine light lets me know I did not crank the car. This happens more so after I have had to run errands and crank the car a frequent amount of times in a shorter period of time.
A. I began to notice that at times the car would not start the first time I turned the key. I would have to turn the key to off position and try again, this could sometimes take a couple of times. The dealer did state that it was indeed the ignition switch. B. We also have an issue with the ignition when you turn it over it continues to try to start after it is running. The only way to make is stop is to step on the gas. C. When the car is shut off with the wipers or heater or even the radio on; when we start the Equinox, there is smoke coming out of the steering wheel area. It has a burning smell with it. Very dangerous. Just last week, I had my Equinox on with the air, and smoke came out of the steering wheel area while it was running idle. D. In the colder weather, there is frost on my inside front windshield. All windows are up, and there is no reason for this. This vehicle needs to have a massive recall as there are many issues going on with it. I would hate to see someone get hurt but I could see it happening if something is not done to correct these issues.
Bought new 2006 Equinox with three original miles. 1) right rear seat belt locked up, ratchet tighter and would not release until removed and fully retracted. Five occurrences, one time to dealer who reprogrammed pcm but issue still exists. 7) ignition switch grinding or will not turn. Daily occurrences, one time to dealer, issue still exists. 8) no onstar data communication. One occurrence, one time to dealer who could not duplicate. 9) onstar unable to detect service light in instrument cluster. Issue not brought to dealer at this time. 10) engine coolant extremely low within 5000 original miles. Issue not brought to dealer at this time. 11) engine coolant brown and foaming. : the contact stated there have been two incidents with the vehicle. First, while in reverse the vehicle went forward. This resulted in loss of brakes and power steering. The ignition was turned off and the emergency brake was pulled to stop the vehicle. Second, while attempting to start the vehicle the engine failed. There was a clicking sound heard. The lights, power windows and radio were still operable, however the vehicle failed to start. The dealership was unable to duplicate the problem with the first incident. The second incident, they determined the battery needed to be replaced. The manufacturer has been alerted.
