1 Navigational (global Positioning System) Gps problem of the 2025 Chevrolet Equinox

Failure Date: 11/04/2025

This car is equipped with a telematics module that feeds information to navigation system, blue cruise hands-off driving, and provides speed limit information in a heads-up display based on map data. The same module also controls connectivity to on-star, a safety monitoring service. There appears to be a bug in the software whereby the module doesn't appropriately initialized properly. This has several effects. The onstar system ceases to function (and the attendant feature of calling emergency services in a collision). The bug also causes false gps coordinate data to be fed to the car; since the reporting of the speed limit and other alerts are based on this data, along with the blue cruise hands-off driving, the driver is presented with false information about the speed limit on the current road (instead using data about the road at the false gps coordinates). If using guidance, the guidance presents the driver with false and confusing directions (which change frequently as the system believes the driver is in a different place). This bug has happened about 6 times in the past 6 months. There's no mechanism to reset the unit other than disconnecting the battery or fuse. The attached file shows a typical event. The guidance clearly shows the car in the middle of the charles river in boston, and the navigation system is instructing the driver to get on memorial drive. The hud (not shown) indicates that the current speed limit is 20 mph. This picture was taken while on interstate 93 in medford MA (speed limit 65 mph).

2 Navigational (global Positioning System) Gps problem of the 2025 Chevrolet Equinox

Failure Date: 10/06/2025

Telematics module failure. Causes gps to provide erroneous navigation prior to complete failure. Started as 1/2 mile, then grew to over 30 mile deviation from actual location. The module also takes out several safety and monitoring systems monitored by onstar. All in-car communications are lost, which means driver has to revert to using a cell phone directly for basic functions proved through infotainment system.

3 Navigational (global Positioning System) Gps problem of the 2025 Chevrolet Equinox

Failure Date: 09/06/2025

The vehicle had a fault in its gps and it also had no communication with emergency assistance. This also caused battery problems that generated on two occasions that the vehicle did not start.

4 Navigational (global Positioning System) Gps problem of the 2019 Chevrolet Equinox

Failure Date: 11/03/2023

Lcd screen as part of the infotainment system blanks out then repeatedly restarts. This goes for the entire drive. The gps is not picking up the correct temperature and reports in celsius not fahrenheit. I'm not able to use any of the infotainment features including not being able to use the phone feature. Also the radio volume increases and decreases on its own. All of this is very distracting as I drive.

5 Navigational (global Positioning System) Gps problem of the 2011 Chevrolet Equinox

Failure Date: 09/24/2014

First time owner of this vehicle. The end of June, 2014 began noticing that the gps would not save destinations when traveling, would have to reenter address anytime the ignition was turned off and back on. Shortly after this, the clock stopped working, when the time was corrected, if would reset after ignition was turned off and back on to the incorrect time. The bluetooth also began randomly disconnecting and would not connect anymore. Sept. 24th, the vehicle was brought to dealership where purchased to see what was wrong. Owner was told the entire navigation system would have to be replaced, for quoted $1300. Owner not satisfied, was told that it was a defect from the manufacturer, and that there was bad wiring. Owner feels that gm should cover the defective part. If bad wiring exists, this could be a safety hazard. Owner also found service bulletin pi-0285-d, which was consistent with the problems that had been occurring. Due to the fact that the owner did not purchase an extended warranty, gm will only cover a percentage of the cost to replace the defective part.
