1 Steering Is Tight problem of the 2010 Chevrolet Equinox

Failure Date: 07/03/2019

Nhtsa reference #: 10081067 TSB reference #: g-205009 special coverage #: 14232a after the dealer replaced the parts on my vehicle, the steering wheel is still sticking and the dealer is requesting that additional part(s) from the steering wheel be replaced at my own expenses. I do believe that any additional parts required to make the vehicle safe should be at the manufacturer expenses. The troubleshooting was not done the right way in order to isolate the components.

2 Steering Is Tight problem of the 2007 Chevrolet Equinox

Failure Date: 12/15/2015

The cat was paked in the driveway I remote started it and when I finally got to my vehicle to leave the steering wheel was hard to maneuver. Now I recently purchased this vehicle a month ago from a dealership and was given the responsibility to pay for this but to no avail I complained because I am a new owner and that should not be a repair I'm responsible for. But that didn't stop them for making me pay a deductible as if it was normal wear and tear. This didn't sit right on my heart so I figured to do some internet seeking and found there is a recall for this power steering module I'm sure the dealership knew this before selling it to me. Very displeased!.

4 Steering Is Tight problem of the 2008 Chevrolet Equinox

Failure Date: 12/02/2013

Got into my car that morning to take my daughter to daycare and I was turning the curb to get onto the freeway my steering locked up and was hard to manage. Looked down and there were two lights on traction control off and service stabilitrack system. No warning just gave out. Me & my child could have been injured if we were going any faster. Then it cost over $1200 dollars at the dealership. I have read so many issues with the same thing. There should be a recall on this part. There is no way that everyone who has the 2008 chevy Equinox is have the same issue. Not only is my truck still in the shop ($1200 plus) im still having to pay a truck note also. Can someone please take care of this. Its to close to christmas to be paying such high expenses on a problem that could have been solved.

5 Steering Is Tight problem of the 2011 Chevrolet Equinox

Failure Date: 02/21/2011

On 2/21/11, I was operating my 2010 chevy "equinox" on I-95. After about an hour and half start I began to have steering problems. Traveling at a sustained speed of approximately 70mph I began to notice the steering wheel was sticking, when I attempted to pass a slower vehicle. The longer I traveled, the problem became more noticable. This situation continued for at least four hours, until I left the interstate and entered a secondary highway, where the speed was slower and more traffic, which required more movement in the steering wheel. This situation kind of caught me by surprise since the vehicle had 26,000 miles and has been operated in this type of driving numerous times. It does not appear to "stick" at slower speeds or in traffic. But I feel it could catch an individual off guard, who may not be an experienced driver. I took the vehicle to the dealership (2/22/11) they could not duplicate the problem nor did the computer indicate something had happened. I contacted Chevrolet/GMC via phone and e-mail. Their response each time left me with the impression they appreciated the information. I've indicated to them they have a sleeper with this electronic power steering system. There was no response, that the car was safe or if they had a problem. This car has a problem "a sleeper". And according to the web I'm not the only one that has a problem, which could led to serious injury or death.
