I am experiencing a recurring issue with my vehicle where the park assist system keeps activating unexpectedly, and the check engine light (cel) also comes on. I have taken the vehicle to o’reilly auto parts for a diagnostic scan, and they reported no repairable codes present. Additionally, I visited tires plus, and their assessment was that if the light goes off on its own, then no issue is present that requires repair. Despite the temporary disappearance of the warning lights, the issue keeps returning, which raises concern. The park assist activation is not being manually triggered and appears without warning, often accompanied by the cel. This inconsistent behavior suggests there may be an intermittent or underlying issue with the vehicle’s sensors, wiring, or onboard systems that may not register a permanent diagnostic code. At this time, no repairs have been performed due to both locations stating that no actionable codes or faults were detected. However, the issue continues to happen periodically, and I would like further inspection or documentation of the problem, especially if it worsens or begins affecting vehicle safety or drivability.

Report of dangerous rental vehicle and serious safety incident – rental agreement #289216922 I am submitting this report to formally document a serious safety issue involving a rental vehicle I received from avis in may 2024. Several safety components malfunctioned and put the safety of my and my passenger in a life threatening situation. At the time of pickup, the vehicle had a visible dent near the front right tire, which was acknowledged by the rental agent and dismissed as cosmetic. I also noted a faulty rear hatch, which opened unpredictably and struck occupants in the head on multiple occasions as it behaved erratically. Over the course of the rental, the vehicle displayed additional signs of mechanical failure — including instability at highway speeds, loud squealing, and parts of the bumper physically falling off during the trip. On may 30th, while driving at highway speed, the vehicle suffered a sudden tire blowout. Critically, the onboard system misidentified the location of the blown tire, indicating the front right tire had failed when it was actually the rear right. This misinformation delayed proper response and nearly resulted in a rollover. We were stranded on the roadside for over an hour, narrowly avoiding several collisions. A critical system failure. A responding tow truck driver observed signs that the vehicle may have previously been involved in a collision — which aligns with the visible damage present when the vehicle was picked up. Avis has, despite multiple attempts, refused to confirm whether the vehicle was removed from service after the incident or whether any safety inspection was conducted -- we remain severely concerned for the safety of anyone else using this vehicle. This vehicle should not have been rented in its condition. The failure of safety systems, mechanical instability, prior collision damage, and the loss of exterior components created a serious and unacceptable risk to the driver, passenger, and others on the road.

Steering feels slightly loose and keeps drifting to the left. When I have people in the backseat and I take off from a stop, the vehicle swerves to the left. Hoping the dealership will do an alignment when I take it in.
The steering wheel seizes at highway speeds after driving for an extended period (2+ hours. ) the steering seems to lock into a position so while approaching a curve you're unable to steer toward the center of the lane, requiring you to jerk the steering wheel towards the center of the lane to prevent going out of the lane. This issue was reported and taken to multiple gm dealerships to address and they keep insisting it's lane keep assist, it is not as this issue happens when it's turned of, further more lane keep assist usually nudges a vehicle back in lane or vibrates to warn you're drifting out of a lane. It does not actively try to pull you out of a lane as we've experienced with this car. This is a deadly hazard that may cause an inattentive drive to over steer into an accident, and because of it's intermittent nature, it will be surprising and scary causing less experienced drivers to overreact to it. I'm afraid this may be a latent safety fault within the 2025 chevy Equinox, that will eventually cost lives, and worst part, this cause may not be detected for a long time. . I hope more instances of this gets reported to force gm and it's dealerships to spend the proper effort to hunt down this safety issue and address it before it's too late.
The abs light came on the dash and traction control. I was driving in a rain storm and went around a corner and front end started to slide. Was only going 35 mph so I didn't lose control. This happened on. 04/15/2025 . If I would have been going any faster I would have lost control. This is very dangerous as I realized. It should be fixed by gm for safety concerns.

The contact owns a 2011 Chevrolet Equinox. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the check engine warning light illuminated on the instrument panel, prompting the contact to discontinue driving the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, who observed a small amount of fluid within the engine compartment. The dealer later determined that the fluid was power steering fluid. However, the dealer was unable to determine the exact location of the leak. The contact was advised to continue driving the vehicle for 1 week then return for a follow-up inspection. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 149,000.

Two major complaints this vechile #1 the current std operating control features are a flat out safety issue no-one has taken into account the display of to name a few such as fan-speed hi/low, ac on/off ,heated seat adjustment you cannot view while driving during daytime hours or late afternoon 1-2 hrs before dark but you can view 100% only when the sun is directly behind you ( they do not lite up until its night time & only at night) you might be laughing well zip it up ( why it forces the driver to take their eyes off the road) it’s not funny gone is std button or knob you can reach and adj . Trying do certain adjustments I find myself wandering off the highway onto rumble strips searching for control of certain p. B. #2 this car while traveling on [xxx] threw PA into ohio with only 500+ miles we come up on quick stop traffic back up ( trying to quickly turn on the hazard warning sw —-not found )2-days latter still have not found I should not have to be searching the I/net or reading some now small portion of a new idea shortened version of a operators manual basic functions we all should be able to operate any brand vehicle not this car this [xxx] design control panel is a ralph nader example of how to distract every driver behind the wheel. Also a lot of overall reviews many give this car great reviews but no one takes ease of std operator functions into account of any safety factor and I don’t trust you or any government agency will be telling gm this design of std control access eventually will cause many accidents . Oh yes everyone makes a big deal about one talking on a cell phone that is an ticket in waiting pales as a joke to just plain driving this vehicle ( it is a very distracting nightmare ) thanks [xxx] camden NY cell [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. My wife started noticing issues with our 2019 Equinox. We got several error mesaages: service brakes, service sylteering, enigine light and abs. I did some digging online and found similar issues with other Equinox owners. The fix is to replace the battery. We did and after leaving the shop the car won't move. It will go into differnt gears but wont move and is currently at home in our driveway.
Steering wheel vibrates and makes grinding noise when coming back from turn, it doesn't do it all the time but about every 15th turn. Taken it to the dealership 3 times and can't find anything wrong with it.

There is a vibration and wobble upon acceleration. This issue has been confirmed by an independent service center. It is not an issue with the tires. Gm has a service bulletin on the front axles.
My son was driving when the steering "locked" into one position which caused him to leave the interstate, cross the median, across oncoming traffic and roll the vehicle three times. He suffered a lower back injury and his passenger only encountered minor cuts. We were not aware of any issues at the time. We did not have the vehicle inspected after the crash. No warnings or prior warnings were displayed by the car.
While driving the power steering stopped working. I could still steer manual but was very hard. The service stability light came on. I pulled over to the side of the road turned car off then back on and still wouldn’t work. I decided to drive home with no power steering. Took to a local mechanic and he found that there is a TSB for this issue but is having challenges following the TSB. Due to he needs a “tech2” scanner. He thinks he found a workaround but that web site was down. He still has car and will resume today.

My front collision alert system has stopped working, I have taken it to multiple dealerships within my certified vehicle company. Next, my automatic high beams do not function at all, which is difficult to navigate at night without them. I have tried to update my vehicle and sent it to other dealerships and they cannot figure out what is wrong. And lastly, my lane assistance system is not working either, every time I have tried to reset, nothing has happened. Due to all of these functions not working the automatic high beams, I have had to be extra careful when driving at night. The lane assist system not functioning at all has made driving in compact roadways more difficult. Lastly the front collision alert system not working at all has caused many incidents that could have led to multiple accidents. I have talked to customer service agents, mechanics, and car managers from dealerships and they can't figure it out either. Please help!.
At steady highway speeds, after driving an extended period on straight sections of highway, the steering sticks; requires a tug to get the wheel to turn left or right. My car is not equipped with lane keeping assistance. I usually first feel this nearly an hour into a trip to our daughter's house, 2 1/2 hrs. Away. I took the car into the dealer at 21. 6k miles and in eighteen miles they "could not duplicate" and said there were no TSB's or computer updates for the problem. Now at 73k miles, this problem persists. I have seen a couple of others post this exact issue about their 2018-and-newer Equinoxes, on Equinox forums/sites, also with no satisfaction from their dealers. This could be especially dangerous on wet/slick roads. Of course a dealer won't be able to reproduce it as they won't drive a car multiples miles on a straight road without turning the wheel, and then attempting to turn it.
Electronics continually work in a “muted” manor. Not enough heat from the seat, steering wheel etc. Park assist and cruise control disengage on their own. Infotainment screen fails to recognize key fob and reboots radio. Entire camera system frequently goes out with an error that no cameras are even hooked up. Hvac system runs way too cold. Blower cuts out. Random vents will work, others don’t or struggle. Zero airflow out of the rear vents. Excessive water drips out of vehicle from several spots while either minimal or no exhaust coming from tailpipe. Sometimes exhaust comes from under the hood. Transmission shifts when it shouldn’t and doesn’t when it should. Grinding sensation from gas pedal upon accelerating. Very sluggish. No power. Rpms reach 3000-4000 trying to accelerate down steep inclines. Gravity is no match for this vehicle. Long shifts cause vehicle to remain in a state of constant braking. Getting only 18 mpg. Can’t maintain speed. Every shift is felt in pedals and steering wheel. Pulls to different sides after each shift. Power steering much too tight and difficult to turn. Numerous times fuel has failed to reach the engine. Not having control of acceleration, steering and no winter warmth is dangerous. At best. It’s downright deadly. Depaula Chevrolet will do absolutely nothing. Gm corporate was also no help. This vehicle is destroying me financially and cost me my job. These problems have been happening daily since two miles after I left the lot on the date of purchase.

I am writing to address a critical issue involving my 2017 Chevrolet vehicle, which poses a significant safety hazard. I purchased this car from faulkner Subaru in bethlehem in 2022. The specific component failure relates to the positive crankcase ventilation (pcv) system, particularly the lack of a traditional pcv valve and the presence of a fixed orifice vacuum port in the intake manifold. This component is available for inspection upon request. The safety of myself, my passengers, and other road users was compromised due to the sudden and significant oil leakage caused by the malfunctioning pcv system. This not only endangered our safety but also posed a serious risk to others on the road. While the problem has not been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center, it is a well-documented issue with ongoing litigation against Chevrolet. However, there are currently no active recalls addressing the problem. There were no warning lamps, messages, or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure. The incident occurred suddenly while driving, with the strong smell of burning oil and subsequent oil leakage being the first indications of a problem. Your immediate attention to this matter and intervention on behalf of affected consumers is crucial. I urge Chevrolet to address this safety concern through a formal safety recall and to take responsibility for rectifying this manufacturing defect.

On many occasions while driving at highway speeds the steering wheel sticks causing me to use extra force to move the wheel. It's bad enough on dry pavement but on wet or snow covered roads it's worst. I have spun out 2 times already even while being cautious, luckily no one was around at the time. This needs to be addressed. There have been a few times that the blind spot monitoring stayed lit when there was no car around as well as at times the light never came on while I was being passed.

My car is leaking oil and stalling just other cars in NHTSA 20v668000 my car is 2019 chevy Equinox and is leaking oil stalling and a message comes on the street say my steering may might be impacted.
The vacumm pump grenaded and sent metal chunks into the camshaft knocking the reluctant wheel out of position causing the car to shut down and lose brakes and power steering. There were no prior engine codes or warning. Multiple mechanics verified this and it is a known issue. Gm needs to deal with this and should put out a recall. Such a new vehicle should not need motor work at 70k miles!!.
Driving home and steering wheel and vehicle started shaking like the wheels were going to fall off. 11/08/23 purchased Nov or Dec of 2022 from dan cummins-as is no one mentioned this. Had my mechanic look it up and it's actually called a death wobble.

While dinghy towing the vehicle behind a motor home the tires lock up, skid and screech when going through tight turns such as cloverleaf on or off-ramps. After turns are made the vehicle handling returns to normal. Posted/suggested speeds or less are followed for the turns. The issue has occurred on numerous occasions and could be easily reproduced under actual towing conditions. The written owners manual that came with the vehicle when purchased new states clearly the that dinghy towing is allowed. We purchased specifically with that in mind and talked to the dealer at length about our intention of dinghy towing it. A case has been opened with gm and the vehicle has been assessed by 2 different Chevrolet dealers. No obvious defects have been found by the dealers. The issue is unresolved and offers to reproduce the problem under actual towing conditions has not been accepted by the dealers or gm. This should be viewed a significant safety issue with possible damage risks to the tow and towed vehicles, towing equipment as well as safety of those driving/riding in the RV and also for other drivers around us.
Has bad steering rack that should of never gone bad and the exhaust resignatior rotted out which should never happen.

We bought a 2023 chevy Equinox awd specifically because it said it can be flat towed behind an RV. When towing it, we have noticed that when going around certain turns such as a cloverleaf on or off ramp, as you are in the turn, the tires start screeching loudly, you can smell burning rubber, and the RV feels like it's being tugged on by the car. As soon as the RV goes straight again, the screeching and tugging stop. This does not happen when turning a corner at a stop sign or stop light. We did not notice any warning lights on in the car after stopping to check on the vehicle. I feel this is a big safety issue for those driving/riding in the RV and also for other drivers around us as we do not know the stress this is putting on our Equinox tow connection setup, the frame of the Equinox or the RV hitch system. This issue is happening to other 2023 Equinox owners and we all have different RV's and various tow equipment setups. The common factor is the Equinox. I have not reported this to the dealer yet but plan to do so today.
While towing my Equinox behind my motorhome, with properly installed equipment, I experience tire screeching when taking off ramps from the highway. From extensive research, I've found that many 2023 Equinox owners are having the same issue and many have started gm case numbers. This issue is happening with many different tow systems installed and the only constant denominator is the 2023 Equinox. I've read that gm is fully aware of the issue and is working on a fix. I just wanted to get my involvement documented to potentially show the scope of this problem.
Service stabilitrak & power steering light comes on after initial start up or in the middle of driving intermittently cause car to jolt back & forth while driving which can cause an accident if someone or car is near, could hear that car was attempting to lock & unlock doors while errors appear on dash. When changing gears a jolt and loud knock sounds occurs, now check engine light appears, this has caused a new issue now code states to replace transmission valve body assembly…unable to locate part anywhere & I’m not clear what may be causing issue since it happens intermittently. Changed battery, msgs stopped appearing on dash for a week. Boom hopes were high now msgs are there again…. Total nightmare. I just bought this car!!!.
The car was parked, started up to pull out of the parking space, preceded to back up. The car moved a couple of inches out of the parking space. The car position was half in the parking space and half way in traffic. Then the car locked up with lights appeared on the dashboard, engine light comes on, esc and car with wiggly lines. The car would not move forward, reversed, nor could I cut off the engine. Was afraid to take foot off brakes since the car would not cut off engine. Call the tow truck and it was towed to the dealer with engine running and lights still on. Dealer said they have not seen this before. After researching esc lights on Equinox, complaints and concerns has been reported since 2018 on Equinox models. We did not have any problems prior to this nor any warning signs. Brought the car new 2022 Equinox, and this happen with 10, 385 miles on the car. The car never been in an accident. Danger and safety was the car was stuck in the middle of the street and partial in the parking space, making it dangerous for continued traffic and potential accident. The dealer still has the car.
Auto stop caused service brake assist warning to pop up on dash. Resolved on its own. A week later, steering assist disabled message pops up while driving and car didn't start after coming to a stop. Service esc, traction off, service brake assist messages, all pop up. Car did not restart. Vehicle is currently at cooley Chevrolet in irving, TX awaiting results of tests. Obviously, this is a common issue judging from the number of complaints on the internet about it.
While driving 25 mph in town on a straight road my 2020 Equinox 4d 1lt steering pulled to the right with out any reason and I hit a parked vehicle. I was not distracted, did not hit a pot hole, tire pressure and tread were all good. This road is near my house and have traveled on it many times. The car just turned to the right and hit the parked vehicle before I could react to the steering problem. This is a very unsafe condition. I feel it had to do with the electric steering. I just purchased this car from a reputable chevy dealer. I’m a careful driver and have never had an accident before.
While four wheel down towing my 2023 Equinox behind my motorhome, under certain road conditions, the tires can be heard squealing and burnt rubber can be seen and smelt. I put a camera in the car to record the event and during the described events the steering wheel can be seen shaking violently. This type of event occurs consistently on cloverleaf type on and off ramps and other roads that have somewhat tight turns that are banked. I am correctly towing the car per gm's published dingy towing instructions for the 2023 Equinox. I have ten years experience towing a 2011 Equinox with the same set up that have been trouble free. In may of 2023 I reported the issue to my dealer and sent the videos. Gm opened a case, 9-9951144997, but to date no resolution for the problem. This is a serious safety concern for me and my family travelling in the motorhome and my concern extends to others on the highway. When you can hear the tires squealing from inside a diesel pusher motorhome and view on video how violent the event is, the safety of towing the 2023 Equinox has to be questioned.
