The 2023 Equinox owner's manual states that the Equinox can be flat towed behind a motorhome with all four wheels on the ground. I bought the vehicle based on this representation for towing behind our motorhome. When towing thorough turns at certain speeds and of certain radius and duration, the Equinox tires make a loud screeching noise and the smell of burning rubber is noticed. This condition begins shortly after the Equinox enters the turn and ends once the Equinox completes the turn. A video camera inside the Equinox shows the steering wheel vibrating strongly left/right accompanied by the screeching noise, and the degree to which the steering wheel rotates during the turn is less than when the Equinox is driven through the same turn. (see video at https://youtu. Be/vemaqikww64?t=14). The driver of the motorhome feels a lagging or pulling sensation against the motorhome, as if the Equinox is applying its brakes throughout the turn. I am concerned that a vehicle that applies its brakes while being towed through a turn is a safety hazard to those in the motorhome and to other drivers on the road. It may be causing unknown damage to components of the Equinox, its towing base plate, as well as to the motorhome towing equipment, tow hitch, and chassis. I brought this issue to gm's attention and there has been no fix to date.

The air bag safety restraint system is faulty on this vehicle. This is a system that should work for a life time for the vehicle but it's already defective. This vehicle once the battery is low or needs jump start, the entire steering controls become loose which may cause serious accidents for unseasonably experienced drivers.

Power steering failure.
I lease a 2022 Equinox. February 15, 2023 I was driving from the store and began to pull in my driveway. I live on a dirt, dead end road. I turned the steering wheel and there was no reaction. The car kept going straight. I put on the brakes and the car didn't stop or slow down. I was stopped when I hit my own lamp post and a large rock at the end of my driveway. There was no warning that anything was out of the ordinary. Just no response to the steering wheel and nothing when I applied the brake. There wasn't anything different in the brakes or steering wheel, they felt normal. No pulling, nor sign that the power steering went out. There was just no response to either. Putting the car in park I got out of the car to assess the damage. Some broken trim was the only damage. Put the car in reverse and it worked and I drove up the driveway and parked. Going back to the place of the accident to clean up the mess. The road was dry and conditions were good. No inclement weather. I reported to the mcdonald Chevrolet and they towed the car in. The problem could not be recreated and there were no codes. I had no choice but to pick up the car. I wrote on their receipt and mine that I do not feel this car is safe to drive. The mechanics did their best. I called gm support in hopes that they would help and spoke to maureen. She continually told me that if there was no code showing and it couldn't be recreated there wasn't anything wrong with the car. There could not be a problem. I have 2 more years to drive this car. I refuse to put my grandchildren or my mother in this car because even though it might not happen again, it might. Every time I get ready to make a turn I'm looking ahead to see what I will run into if I lose steering and brakes again. Or I wonder who else will be hurt if these systems fail.
Bent driveshaft.

I own a 2019 chevy Equinox which has developed an issue with the steering, the same as occurred with earlier models. When driving straight for brief periods of time, the steering resists turning either direction to follow the road changes. The wheel is stiff and requires additional effort to adjust. I only have about 30k miles on my car. This is very uncomfortable and lacks for any feeling of security. This could cause a skid on icy and snowy roads that we have now. I see there is no recall for this but I am very concerned for my wife driving the car. This is now a regular occurrence and at any speed.
Power steering malfunction and stop working while driving. Reported on many of these models.

I was driving out in the country on 1-41 towards west union. The steering tightened up and came up with a sensor that said power steering esc. The car went offroad due to the steering tightening from the power steering going out in the vehicle. I contacted the dealer, mike castrucci Chevrolet, and they told me that I would have to pay for any problems with this vehicle and I have only had the vehicle for 3 weeks. I put $2000 down on this vehicle and now am in a deathtrap due to this issue. The vehicle only has 60,800 miles and feel now that this issue could put my life and others at risk due to a faulty steering issue. I do not understand why this vehicle has driven beautifully to this point and yet there are many chev malibus that have that problem. How long will it take before someone recognizes this problem. There were no warnings before and I could have gotten myself and my friend killed in this car driving at night in the country. I spoke with an autozone representative and he said that he had a chev malibu with the same issue. They discovered that it was the power steering motor having to do with the traction control. I guess that I will be forced to keep driving this vehicle, and if there is an accident, then I should hold liability to be general motors and mike castrucci Chevrolet who refuse to fix this car. When I took the vehicle, I was promised that they would stand by their car. I am getting no help with this situation. However, this is my only vehicle so I will keep this on the road until this is resolved. If you should wish to contact me, my number is 513-687-3499. Karen shinkle.

Car feels like it is going to take off at a red light. Then it rumbles and cuts off at the light. I purchased car from us auto sales. Dowc paid pepboys for multiple repairs for breaks rotors and the light that keeps coming on is service stabile track they got the light to cut off but the issue still persisted. They even changed all things dealing with the gas line. This car is still idling high at stop signs like it will take off on its own. And still cuts off at a red light. This is very unsafe and many drivers have almost run onto the back of me. I told us auto sales, dowc, and pepboys and they all put me back in the same vehicle after voicing my concerns about safety. Instead of putting me in a safer vehicle they ignored it. This has been happening since I purchased the vehicle in November 2022.

Purchased the car from some that passed away and did not get these items fixed before I got it. Coverter/ lossing/using oil, and electric power steering system problem.
I just got the car on Thursday, 11/3/2022. Around 1:00 pm. On 11/3/2022 around 3:30 pm, the following happened: the Equinox started wobbling as I reached the speed of approximately 40 mph. Then I had a red light. After it turned green and I began driving, the vehicle started wobbling and it was hard to control my position in the traffic lane. Other drivers avoided me, and slowed down to prevent an accident. At this point, I reached a reduced speed construction area. When I drove at about 20 mph, the vehicle wobbled even worse. The driver’s side wheel started going clunk, clunk. , so I pulled into a gas station. The left front tire was low, but nowhere near flat. A man put some air in the tire and it held the air. At that point, I recognized that it was too dangerous to drive the vehicle again. Chevy roadside assistance took it to the nearest dealer, mills Chevrolet. They will look at it on Monday 11/4/2022.
My vehicle went into "limp mode" in a dangerous intersection due to the garbage design of the pcv. The "valve" is simply a hole that gets clogged by cold climates, and it allows the oil pressure to build up in the crankcase and then without warning, OH boy, my engine had a catastrophic failure and needs to be replaced. Blown rear main seal. There are multiple lawsuits against gm for this. They can't continue to get away with knowing about this flaw and not fix it. I only put 37,000 miles on this car (108k total). Changed the oil myself religiously. I came in, and they told me there was no oil on the dipstick despite the fact that I had just changed the oil 2 days prior.

The camshaft actuators continue creating difficultdriving conditions. The poo11 and poo13 codes continually show faulty even after replacement. The vehicle {2012 Chevrolet Equinox} lurches and bucks, creating difficulty for the safe operations of this vehicle. This creates adverse reactions from other motorists by just acting up ,even after repairs. This is my 3rd time replacing these components to no avail. The obd does kick out the engine light, but its definately manufacturer poor designing. This problem while driving in traffic is concerning. Is there any remedy? parrybruce57@gmail. My son was driving on i75 and university dr in mi and all of a sudden there was a loud noise when everything shut down-power steering, hazard lights, etc and with no dashboard emergency warning light. He is strong and was able to get it to the side of the road. And he could have been stuck in fast moving traffic. The dealer moran chevy said it was a problem with the main rear valve pvc? getting water in it and freezing causing engine to be destroyed. Online a number of complaints with same problem. TSB 14882 gm replaced some VIN number engines but not others including my Equinox.

Sterring wheel harden and wheels to moving.
When making a sharp turn left or right from a standstill the vehicles makes an audible grinding noise and vibration in the steering wheel. Feels like you're driving over rumble strips. Vehicle was taken to dealer on 7/28/21 and problem was recreated by technician on test drive. Cause of issue was determined to be the electric duel pinion rack and pinion steering gear. This part was replaced under warranty. On 9/30/21 the exact same issue with the same symptoms started happening again. Dealer was contacted and appointment was made for 10/4/21. I feel that my safety and the safety of others are at risk due to if the steering system fails completely I would not be able to control the vehicle.

My car was purchased used at a Chevrolet dealership. I noticed right away that the carjerks when I accelerate, it also stalls when trying to accelerate when making a turn which cam cause an accident. The vehicle revs and slowly moves and then takes off. Its a dragging motion when driving its very slow. The steering wheel locks when turning as if I need power steering fluid. This car is a hazard, waiting to happen. When starting it, it makes this loud humming noise. I just had it inspected and the mechanic said the car was fine, but driving it is a different story.
Experienced severe shaking in steering and suspension while accelerating, usually starting at the 2-3 shift. At 12,836 miles left and right front half shafts failed due to 'excessive lateral runout' . Bulletin 20-na-227 applied(as per dealer) and both replaced. Now at 21,500 miles, the same issues are occurring again. When it happens, the vehicle becomes difficult to steer and I'm concerned should a total failure occur while I'm driving. Initial problem started around 4000 miles but only occurred very sporadically.
Once on a while the power steering locks for approximately 3 or 4 seconds and a light that’s looks like some pliers lights up. It probably be a issue with the power steering motor.
Service power steering message comes on when starting vehicle.

62 k miles car completely shut down and power steering became useless making it extremely hard to even move out of traffic. There were no warning lights car has always been fully serviced at dealership. Vac pump failed causing camshaft to break , bending pistons new engine required. Car at dealership going into 3 weeks now.
Anti steering fluid leaking.
My abs and stabilitrack light would come on intermittently was told it's a bad sensor and replace when possible. On the way to take my kids to school, (no warning lights presented) I was traveling about 25 mph through the neighborhood when approaching a stop sign I depressed my brakes. Immediately the abs and stabilitrack lights came on and the brake pedal would not depress more than 1/2 and made a gear locking sound. I was able to come to a stop using manual downshift and pumping the brakes. When presenting to mechanic, I was advised to attempt to replicate. Read that again. I was advised to attempt to replicate a brake failure.
Brake won't releases after puting on brake pedal key falls out of ignition while drive ing steering seems like going to fall apart when turnings cat hardly put gas in it code 0445 large evap leak detector.

I was in the driveway at my home getting ready to leave for church, I was pulling forward before I backed up thinking I might be too close to the gates. When I moved forward with my foot on the brake to just creep along, the engine revved up to an astromical speed. I was head toward my son's truck. I steered away but caught the bumper of an f350 . My car is totally destroyed. I knocked the truck over two feet from where it was sitting and pushed it within one or two inches of going through my house where my son was asleep in the recliner. Before I hit the brick post holding up one end of my car port, I was able to move the car into park and stop it. The hill assist light was on when I got out of the car. I was going down a slight incline and not up a hill. My drive is only about 20-25 feet and the car was going at an alarming rate. Fortunately, I was just bruised and sore from the impact.
First time: March 21 - NJ turnpike. Car "stabilitrak icon" and service stabilitrak" msg & "tire pressure monitor" light, then "brake icon" and "abs icon" with "service power steering" msg, then "service all wheel drive system" msg - all while the icons are on - car lost all power. Car died in the middle of the NJ turnpike at almost exit 18e/w. Had vehicle towed, took first to firestone a day later, the found a code they said needed the chevy computers (p069e, u0073, d1231) - took to chevy a week later (bellavia chevy, rutherford, NJ), dealer said they found no codes - could be the battery. We cleaned the ports, changed the battery. Had new tires installed at firestone on 4/9. 4/9 picked up the car, this time driving from northern NJ to brooklyn and the exact same issue happened again, only this time, in the middle of the verrizano bridge in staten island. All the same lights / symptoms as above, lost all power. Managed to get off at the 92nd street exit and into a parking space - towed to parents house in brooklyn, made appt w/ chevy dealer for Monday 4/12 (bay ridge Chevrolet of brooklyn). Vehicle is now with them, awaiting diagnostic - this is clearly a safety issue and for the first dealer to not be able to diagnose / get a code and the issue happened again. I'm now over 500. 00 in diagnostics fees that did not fix anything. Both times were highway driving, weather conditions we good both days.
My transmission is not picking up accordingly. Rpm are high.
