Air Bag Problems of Chevrolet Express

My worry is the airbag. Is it a takata airbag? from my understanding these airbags are dangerous. So is there a recall to have them fixed. And if so , can I take it to my local chevy dealer.

I was in a front end collison due to a brake failure and when I have a steel gate at about 30 mph no airbag deployed. Car was towed by the upper darby police department and it is totaled. I sustained injuries. There was no airbag light brake warning light came when I attempted to use the emergency brake when regular failed.

About 6:45 in the morning on November 10th, the vehicle was in a high-speed. Front end collision with adult cow elk at 70 miles an hour on the freeway, and the airbags failed to deploy in the van on both front seats and the vehicle was severely damaged. Injuries were sustained.

The vehicle was towed to an impound lot and had not been repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 65,000.

My 2010 Chevrolet Express 1500 awd passenger van was recently in the dealer's shop for work on various sensors and other problems. When the codes were downloaded from the computer, one indicated a faulty passenger side air bag module. At no time had any of the dashboard warning lights indicated a problem with the air bag system, so I had driven an unknown amount of miles without any indication it was malfunctioning, even though the vehicle's computer had an indication of a problem. I have also had repeated intermittent indications of problems with the abs and stabilitrack systems, but their cause has never been identified.

Service airbag, service traction control and service stabilitrac pop up on the driver information center screen randomly and go away randomly. I have noticed the airbag warning happens more frequently when the roads are wet. Vehicle was just at dealer for service and they couldn't find the problem.

I have been waiting over 5 weeks for the parts to come in to champion Chevrolet in johnson city TN but every time I call they say that gm has not sent the parts to fix the airbag that is on recall. Why must I wait this long to have a safety issue corrected.
