The contact owns a 2007 Chevrolet Express van. The contact stated that the air bag sensor light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the front bumper air bag sensor had malfunctioned due to an electrical short caused by moisture damage. The air bag sensor was replaced and the defect was remedied. The manufacturer was notified and no solution was offered. The VIN was not available. The failure mileage was 66,000.

Air bag light is on on dashboard. Chevrolet had installed the airbag sensor on the floor under the drivers seat in a work vehicle chevy 3500 Express. Any moisture causes the sensor to corrode requiring replacement. I have communicated with numerous other owners who have had to pay chevy $1,000 to move the sensor under the dash. Why would you place a sensitive part on the floor in a vehicle where moisture can easily intrude. This is dangerous and could cause air bag malfunctions.
