Side/window Air Bag Problems of Chevrolet Express

The side airbags deployed while driving down the road at about 10 mph. We had just turned out of our driveway and heading to a stop sign at the highway. Luckily it happened before getting on the highway. Nothing hit the van and no prior damage. My wife was driving and she has bruising on her arm and we both have ringing and sore ears. Sounded like a bomb went off inside the van. We were kind of disoriented and feel like we may have blacked out for a bit after it happened. We have not seeked medical yet but might in the next couple days if some of the issues don't get better.

Vehicle was parked and when placed key in ignition driver's side air bag deployed onto driver. Vehicle had been estimated at an insurance claim agency for inspection of prior hail damage. No lights were displayed to warn and no lights illuminated afterwards as well. Have not yet taken to dealer, plans to contact general motors.

On the 2003 chevy Express van (box van), the passenger side air bag blew up without the vehicle being in motion. It blew up on the consumer's daughter who is 5 years old. The problem occurred when the consumer's daughter closed the door. The consumers daughter received numerous burns and lacerations on her arms and chest.

Vehicle was parked in the garage, upon entering the vehicle, the driver side air bag deployed. Manufacturer stated that vehicle had to be inspected to determine the cause. Consumer received a call from manufacturer, informing him that consumer was responsible to pay the repair costs.

When the van was involved in a pretty severe frontal crash, passenger's side air bag did deploy, but the driver's side did not. Van was traveling about 5 mph when this happened. Frontal damage totalled over $7,000 dollars. The van is being repaired. Please provide any further information.
