Takata recall - not sure if this is the type in my car but the air bag on the passenger side has failed. I constantly have a service air bag light that comes on and off. I have researched and this seems to have happened in several of this year and model, even some recalls but not yet to my VIN.
While driving home from work my car started jerking the esc came on engine light traction control system pulled over almost got hit by two other cars . Also the airbag lights been on the sensors have all been replaced and new front airbags.
Service air bag light comes on. Intermittent some times, then stays on for weeks. 63,000 miles.
Service air bag light is on at 64000 miles. Looks like chevy needs to fix the problem. Went to the dealer and they have tried numerous things. Keep getting told to come back it could be this one other thing.
Airbag service message and airbag light goes on and off. Paid 269. 36 4/22/2016 so it would pass state inspection. Light stayed off for about two months, now it is giving us the same problem. Returned to dealer, said cost to repair with new harness in the drivers seat would be around 250. 00 more. The general has a huge problem here.
There has been an consent issue occurring with my vehicle's airbag light coming on. Every time I take it to the dealership I pay $100 for a diagnostic test for them to tell me they are unsure of the issue, but they reset the system for the light to turn off. 4 to 6 months goes by and the light comes on "again". As of right now I do not feel safe that my vehicle will protect me down the highway and I would like and investigation to be opened. Thank you for your time and concern. Have a great day.

Summary: October 19, 2015 vehicle safety complaint air bag system alarming, as air bag light is on all the time for all conditions stationary, in motion, on a city street or a highway, turning. Air bag alarm light turned on for more than one week. Previous corrective actions implemented by Chevrolet dealership are in question and not effective as the issue has returned. Previous incident reported for same issue July 2014 odi numner 10615989 electrical connector issues were diagnosed by the dealership, dealership identified fretting failures, implemented corrective actions. Dealer is charging service fees for safety related air bag failures, the dealer should not be charging fees for repairs, this issue should be treated as a recall. The dealer should not be passing cost of repairs to the customer for vital safety systems of the equipment.
My service air bag light came on in my 2009 Impala, and I took vehice to my dealer. The dealer said that the left front seat side air bag needed to be replaced. I am concerned why this air bag would need full replacement all of a sudden.
Service airbag light had been coming on intermittently for a few months noticed it happened when it was cold and or when making left turns until it came on indefinitely recall after recall I hoped should resolve every time they say it has nothing to do with recall at time of service/recall correction.
Airbag issue since I purchased this vehicle from the gsa in February 2015. Picked up the vehicle in brownsville texas and the airbag light was on. Digital indicator requested that the airbag system be serviced. Never had the system checked until today 8/29/2015 by my mechanic. Found that there are melted wires under the passenger seat. Affecting the airbag system operability.

Air bag light randomly coming on, now more frequently. Scan of system shows air bag pretensioner issue.
Car was parked and not running but was in hot sun for a few hours. When I came back to car I started it up and passenger side front air bag sign was on. This happened on July 4th of 2015. Occasionally the airbag light will go off for a few minutes but then will come right back on.
Service air bag light came on periodically, then stayed on. Went to jeff wyler dealership(shelbyville, ky). Was told there was corrosion in cable. Repaired a $98. 00 diagnostic fee plus parts. Was first given option of not repairing, as they forgot to tell me about the diagnostic fee, or repair at cost of fee. Was repaired on June 18, 2015. On 7/12/15, light came back on. Is not staying on long enough for me to take to the nearest dealership in eminence, ky. Jeff wyler closed its local dealership. Called gm yesterday. No recalls for my VIN #. I am concerned.
Services air bag light intermitent.
When adjusting the steering wheel the service airbag light would come on. Now it comes on quite often while driving.

The air bag light for the passenger side came on. I took it to river rest auto on 4/27/2015. They replaced the passenger presence system in the seat which is what the code called out for. The cost was 802. 05. Gm had recall 36110 for this problem in 08/2016. They are only willing to pay 115. 96. I think they owe me the total amount. I have called them numerous times and have got no where. My case number is 8-2766201672. The car was moving when the air bag light came on. Another light also told us the passenger air bag was not working so we had it fixed right away.
My passenger airbag light is on preventing me from getting my inspection. It came on shortly after a recall was performed for a sensor that controlled abs/tc and engine losing power.
I contacted chev service to inquire why my "service air bag" light came on when my vehicle had not been in an accident. They stated that no recalls were currently in place for air bags and they would cover the diagnosis cost to find out what the issue was. The service department called and said the "seat belt tensioner bracket was defective and needed replace" they also stated they had no of knowing if the air bags or seat belts would deploy in the event of an accident without replacing the defective seat belt tensioner bracket. It would seem to me that if this situation is true (safety restraint system can be rendered ineffective without notice) that possibly the situation should be looked into. The "service air bag" indicator was coming on and off by itself so I originally did not worry too much about it until it came on and stayed on. Imagine my surprise when the gm service department stated that I could have driving around with no safety restraint system. Imagine also my surprise when Chevrolet customer service did not seem to see the urgency of who knows how many vehicles are out there with a potentially useless safety restraint system. Please use your position or respect to pursue this issue and find out if there is a safety concern. Thank you. I have case file numbers and more information if you require.
I bought the car a few weeks later the air bag light comes on. It comes on and turns off at random times. I have called the dealer and they said there is no recalls for it. I also looked online and there is many more people having the same problem with there air bag system.
Service air bag light randomly comes on. Warring can be erased by pushing the reset button so you continue to view information window. Moving driver seat back or forward can something erase the warring. Dealer could not tell if driver side air bag is working when the warring light is on, go figure! repair could be thousands of dollars. Why are air bags not covered for a 100,000 miles or 10 years like emission components? after all air bag systems are safety issues and emissions are not! I will just drive the vehicle as is.
Tl-the contact owns a 2009 Chevrolet Impala. The contact stated that while driving 40 mph, the air bag warning indicator was illuminated. The problem has occurred numerous of times. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer nor independent mechanic and there was no diagnostic test performed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified about the failure. Service air bag light came on. Had the car scanned to find out it was a passenger side air bag. Now on 6/2/15 I am getting another service air bag light, but after I shut the car off, and turn it back on, the light does not come back on. The dealer tells me that until it stays on, they can not scan it. I am not very confident in the airbag system. I have been told by a technician that if one airbag is not functioning right the whole air bag system shuts down. Scary!.
Air bag light came on in may 2, 2014, and an email was received by the owner (me) that they should have a oil change- they did that and at the same time they told the person in the autonations garage that the air bag light comes on and they came back with a check up and said it was the sensor for the air bag rubbing on the seat belt and ruined it. Causing possible injuries to person/persons in the moving vehicle if an accident ever occured. This was then taken care of by autonations garage with "thomas asm" & the tech was "pete" ! amount for replacement $445. 07 vehicle had just run out of warranty! oil change along with tire alignment and other check ups that day came to $ 735. 63 .
When I make a right or left turn my service airbag light comes on. . When I get in the car to start it up its a loud tapping noise.

Air bag light appears on dash. Told it was a weight sensor in passenger seat. Very expensive to fix. Also have another chevy same thing is happening.
Check airbag indicator light appears and "check air bag" appears in driver info center soon after starting driving the vehicle. This occurs every time the vehicle is used, not intermittently.
I have had numerous problems with my 2009 Impala. From the very beginning with only 100+ miles on it and the problems continue today. The dash will say reduced engine power and as I was going down the road at 55 miles an hour my car just shut off. I was able to get it to the side of the road and just sat there wondering what was going on. It wouldn't do anything, it was just completely off. I was about to call for aaa and tried one more time and it started. This happened again in November of 2013 as well and I was going 45 on a country rd. Again I was able to pull to the side and sat there and waited again. When this happens the car will do nothing. I have problems with my traction control, making a strange grinding type noise and bogs the car down from moving when I am trying to accelerate from a stop or trying to turn either left or right. I have had problems with my air bag lights coming on and telling me to service my air bags. It comes on and goes off and comes on and goes off. The dash light will come on and tell me to shut engine off now for low oil pressure, this has happened for 4 years, the car is 5 years old. This car was never a good car from the very day it came off the lot.
