On 10/10/2017 my 2015 Impala 2ltz had sudden acceleration, full throttle. No brakes, no emergency brake, the only way I could stop the car was to put it into neutral ( over 90 mph by then). Then again on 1/25/2018 the same thing happened again, sudden acceleration, by then I knew I had to put it in neutral to stop. My wife and I were lucky I could maneuver the car around several other vehicles and avoided an accident. Both times I was on the freeway at freeway speeds with the adaptive cruise control engaged.

This car has less than 100k miles and chevy dealerships refuse to diagnose the issue with the transmissions and there are multiple complaints about this issue this car is unsafe. The issue is random jerking of the transmission upon taking off in traffic, at light, or from stand still has caused: (a) my wheels to spin, (b) the car to pull into the next lane, (c) almost rear-end collision with car in front, and (d) sudden rapid acceleration in traffic. The car I almost rear-ended was a 2007 chevy police Impala the officer exited his car asked was there a problem I told him about the transmission issue and he stated "yea mine does that too this car isn't a safe one" this need to be addressed nationally.

On September 27, 2005 I rented a Chevrolet Impala from avis on w 76th st in new york city. While sitting stopped at a stop light later that day in hartford, CT, the car suddenly accelerated for about 2 seconds with what appeared to be full throttle into the car directly in front of it while full brake pressure was being applied. About one second went by and it happened once more, striking the car in front of us. Since there was such a small distance between the cars the car was not able to reach a high speed, but there was a strong jolt when striking the other car. After turning the car off and inspecting for damage none was found to either vehicle but in other circumstances this could have been much more dangerous. I called avis roadside assistance and requested that a car be brought to me because I was afraid to drive the car any more. I was told that if the car was drivable I had to bring it to an avis location myself. Later that night, I drove the vehicle to the avis location at the bradley airport in hartford and the car accelerated suddenly again. Thankfully there was no car in front of me. I returned the car and was given an exchange.
Consumer was backing out of driveway and vehicle suddenly accelerated and crashed into a fence. Consumer then put vehicle in drive, and it lurched forward and collided with another automobile. Vehicle was checked by dealer, who could not determine any problem.
