My car started to over heat in the middle of winter in minnesota. There was plenty of coolant in the reservoirs. While the vehicle was idling there was a noise and once I started to move again the car began to jerk then the check engine light came on while attempting to accelerate. Then a few weeks later the gas gauge began showing the incorrect about of gas levels in my vehicle.

I w also as driving into a shopping plaza and my steering wheel locked and my car steered across the entrance after a couple of minutes it started back up. I am so nervous because the steering wheel locked, also every now and then it just wont start up and then all of a sudden it will. The gas gauge doesn't work either so you cant judge the gas never received any recall notices I have a 2000 chevy Impala.
Displayed on panel "reduced engine power" . On star diagnosed service code "p2138". On 05/01/2012 while driving through a large intersection my engine power was reduced to 3 or maybe 5 mph. I was trying to get through the intersection without the acceleration that was so desperately needed. This is definitely a safety issue. In addition to being concerned about getting into an accident, I'm fearful I will be the one causing a fatal pile-up. I have been to the chevy dealer 4 times and they were unable to fix this problem.

Chevrolet Impala LS 2001 have a defect where the gas guage moves up and down constantly while driving. This happens everytime I drive! you never know how much gas you have because the gas guage is not accurate. Which leads to running out of gas or over filling. I dont think it can be fix. I have never been in a accident its just a defect.

It reads 1/4 full when you fill it and goes about 100 miles and reads empty with the light coming on to get gas immediately. I have been to the dealer, sawyers Chevrolet twice but they will do nothing since I had 40,000 miles on it. I think it should be recalled. I have a 2001 chevy Impala with a 3. 8l v6. Today around 3:30 central time I went outside to start my vehicle and I saw that the battery was dead so I got another vehicle of mine and put on my jumper cables and allowed the battery to charge, after waiting for it to charge, I turned the key. When I turned the key I heard a loud explosion, and the plastic intake manifold exploded and caught on fire. The fire was so large I had to call the fire department to put it out, they wrote a report on the incident. I had plastic pieces all over. I would to know why I haven't recieved a recall on this if there has been reports of this issue.
I had purchased a 2010 Chevrolet Impala in July, 2010. The first attempt at repair of the front end vibration was on 10/22/2010. The dealership did not recognize the vibration. The vehicle tires were rotated on 01/26/11 in an attempt to stop the vibration in the front end. The vehicle was taken in on 03/18/11 for front end noise (thump) while turning the wheels. The vehicle was taken in on 07/07/11 for the thumping noise in the front end while turning the wheels. The vehicle was taken in on 07/28/11 for a front end thumping noise when turning the wheels. The vehicle was taken in on 08/16/11 for a front end thumping noise and the dealership notices the tires were wearing slightly cupped on the inside edge. The vehicle was taken in on 09/08/11 for a whining noise from tne engine bay and power steering fluid was flushed. The vehicle was taken in on 04/09/12 for front end thumping noise, wheel bearing, transmission surge, and whine noise from radio. The vehicle was taken in on 06/27/12 for rough idle, tire replacement, transmission. The vehicle was taken in on 07/27/12 for rough idle, transmission surge, thump noise in front end and whine noise in radio. The vehicle was taken in on 10/05/12 for transmission surge, rough idle, thump noise in front end, and whine noise in radio. The outcome at this point is the dealership tried to reprogram the vehicle, gm approved replacement of all four tires, a replacement of the power steering pump, wheel bearing on driver front side. The dealerships have done two throttle body cleanings. The dealership has stated they will replace the rotors but gm would not approve replacement only turning on the rotors. This case has been opend with the better business bureau whom advised me to contact NHTSA. Gm refuses to replace parts because their computer system cannot tell them what is wrong with the vehicle. Gm has recalled the police vehicles for front end suspension and has a lawsuit pending in michigan for personal vehicl.

The contact owns a 2005 Chevrolet Impala. The contact started the ignition and activated the air conditioner, then there was an overpowering gasoline fuel odor inside of the vehicle. The failure would occur intermittently at initial startup with the activation of the air conditioner. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where they were unable to duplicate the problem. The failure continued and the vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 62,000.
I have a 2006 chevy Impala and there seems to be a problem with the transmission. We have taken the car to the dealers several times. We have changed the spark plugs, changed and flushed the transmission fluid. We are still having the car jerk off at a stop light. We you are stopped on an incline it also hesitates to go into gear and the jerks away! the dealer can never find a anything wrong and we have done all the recommended fixes. This seems to be getting worse. The gas cap and solenoid have also had to be replaced which everyone has had problems with. Gm should recall these cars before someone gets hurt!.
The speedometer just stopped working, the transmission shift hard but when you shut off the engine and start it back up it stops shifting hard, and the car stalls.
My vehicle was a 2001 chevy Impala, ( city police vehicle) 02/17/10 I went out in the morning to start the car parked in the driveway. Upon turning the ignition to the on position there was a sonic boom. (so much that it shook our house)the engine compartment began smoking my husband ( a fireman) returned to the car and slightly lifted the hood and found it had flashed over and was totally involved. 911 was called and fire department responded extinguishing the flames. This is city police vehicle so not sure what if anything will be done but I wanted to report the incident in hopes that it would have an impact of keeping others from being injured. This explosion was powerful and fames erupted immediately. Searching the web a odi resume was found which I believe to be the circumstance of my experience. Inv: ea 02-030 prompted by :pe02-050 this was a cold start , in the winter months and the vehicle has a plastic manifold. Also the 8th VIN digit is an 8. Our department had several of these vehicles on the road I would like to know if there was a recall or if we should have further concern about the other 2001 chevy Impalas on the road thank you.
I own a 2007 Chevrolet Impala LS. For some reason, there is a clunk/knock in when I steer to the right. At times it has a tendency to lock up. Also, there is a strong vibration that occurs when I am doing 35 mph or faster. I do not feel safe.
2005 chevy Impala which leaks gas every mourning when the car has set overnight. The recall is the universal pressure regulators (upr) were produced without an o'ring and retainer, so this cause the gas to leak.

I have a 2006 Chevrolet Impala. The gas pedal sensor failed while driving at highway speed, causing a loss of power to the engine. The part is gm25830023. I have had this to a Chevrolet dealer to have fixed, but the part is unavailable from gm. According to the dealer, this is a common problem and they have 2 other Impalas waiting for the part as well. I have been unable to use my car since April 14th.

Strong gas smell in car while idling and driving.
Bad gas smell when you turn heat on.
Car has had several major safety problems (1) defective fuel cap - lead to fuel emissions into atmosphere and malfunction of emission control system. (2) defective speedometer - could have lead to excessive speed, inappropriate speed, and/or crash (3) defective anti-theft security system - can either not allow the vehicle to start, or can cause vehicle to stop running and then not start upon operator command. Could lead to death or dismemberment.
I was passing another car, my car backfired, I then lost power. Returning home at a very slow speed. I noticed a burning smell, the exhaust was red hot. The problem was a burn hole in the plastic intake manifold which melted some electrical wiring.
Car can be parked for several hours or a few minutes and there is a strong odor of gas coming through the air vents, no leaks or spills of gas are present, only happens sporadically not every day or even every week it is really weird. Service mechanic can find nothing wrong. This is a 2005 Chevrolet Impala.
The contact owns a 2008 Chevrolet Impala. The contact had been driving his vehicle at various speeds for several weeks before he noticed that it was not getting the miles per gallon that was stated on the epa sticker. Fuel pressure regulator leaking.
I purchased the vehicle with 704 miles on it in February 2008. In may of 2008, the traction light came on and the traction control and abs were "disabled". I took the vehicle in to the dealer where I purchased it, and they told me I had water in the fuel. As I was leaving the dealership, the transmission stopped shifting, and the car went into "limp" mode. I left the car to have the transmission control module replaced. I received the car back 5 days later and the light came on again, and the abs and traction control where disabled. I took the car to another dealership in the hopes that they could find the trouble. After 14 days in service, they determined that rust has clogged the fuel system of the vehicle. The vehicle currently has 9,800 miles on it. The car is now "undriveable". They have yet to address the root cause of the safety issue that was the catalyst for the service visit.
The contact owns a 2004 Chevrolet Impala. The contact smelled gasoline in the vehicle. The dealer stated that the fuel system regulator was leaking. She smelled gasoline for over a month and took the vehicle to a mechanic. She thought the failure had been repaired; however, the odor remained. The contact then took the vehicle to a general motors dealer and they made the repair. There is a safety recall on the vehicle, but the recall number was unknown. The powertrain was unknown as well. The current mileage was 60,899 and failure mileage was 50,000. *updated 12/12/07 the dealer stated repaired trunk light. Updated 12/12/07.
When starting vehicle and turning on heater there is a strong odor coming from the vents. I complained to the dealer and nothing was ever done. I am afraid that it will catch fire.
