2 Brake Fluid Leak problem of the 2003 Chevrolet K1500

Failure Date: 02/28/2014

After making a panic stop, the dashboard brake warning light came on alerting me to have brakes serviced. Pulled in to parking lot (after the light) and found brake fluid dripping from under the truck from the brake lines leading into the abs controller and from a sharp bend in the line that operates the rear axle. Lines had rusted and leaked brake fluid.

3 Brake Fluid Leak problem of the 2005 Chevrolet K1500

Failure Date: 08/25/2013

While slowing down at a stop light I pressed the brake pedal only to have it fall all the way to the floor. I was crusing to a stop light with crossing traffic and was completely terrified at the loss of braking power. I had the idea to put the truck into neutral and jam the emergency brake while honking my horn. The truck slowly came to a stop well within the intersection narrowly missing traffic. I looked under the truck and found brake fluid leaking from the rear near the axle. A mechanic has confirmed this was a burst brake line due to rust and that he see this brake line fail at the same spot on Chevrolet/GMC trucks frequently. This vehicle has frequent car washes with undercarrage rinsing year round.

4 Brake Fluid Leak problem of the 2003 Chevrolet K1500

Failure Date: 10/20/2012

I was driving my 2003 silverado on the local highway pulling my 7 x 14 trailer in traffic and went to apply the foot brake pedal and it went to the floor with no signs of anything wrong, tried to pump the pedal and nothing went straight to the floor with no help of stopping, the only thing that kept me from a crash was the trailer brakes and the e-brake of the truck. I got off the highway and checked the brake fluid and both front and rear were empty, I started to look under the truck and saw were the fluid was dripping from the rusted thru brake lines and down the frame rails, now with no brakes and pulling a trailer I had to call a wrecker and have the truck and trailer towed 35 mile to my mechanic and replace 4 rusted brake lines that run under the truck, mine rusted thru almost right under the drivers door. .

5 Brake Fluid Leak problem of the 2000 Chevrolet K1500

Failure Date: 08/11/2012

I was traveling on I-83 north in the right lane from baltimore MD to hershey park PA. A driver attempting to merge into my lane from the market st on ramp in york PA. , at very low speed caused me to jam on the brakes. The brake pedal went to the floor. Pumping the brake pedal and pushing it all the way to the floor yielded no results. I had no braking whatsoever. Luckily the car trying to merge stayed on the shoulder or I would not have been able to avoid a collision. I coasted down a long hill - downshifting with hazard lights on, until I came upon an available shoulder to pull onto. Checked the brake fluid reservoir and it was half full. Found brake fluid leaking on the drivers side frame rail a couple feet behind the drivers side door. With plenty of level shoulder to test - I went up and back about 5 mph to see if I had any brakes at all and determined there were none. . I was towed to a repair shop and ended up paying $973 to have the 2 brake lines from the master cylinder to the abs unit, and the 2 lines from the abs unit to the front wheel replaced. I still need to have the rear lines replaced although the mechanic said they looked ok. Vehicle was purchased at jba Chevrolet glen burnie( used ) has been titled in MD until January of this year va.
