4 Steering Wheel Vibrate problem

Failure Date: 01/25/2018

I have a 2008 chevy Malibu. It took me a lot of hard work to afford a car. I make payments of around $400 a month. Recently my steering wheel started shaking, and a power steering warning flashed on the center consule. After doing this repeatedly for a couple days my steering wheel is now locking up. It locks up on me while driving, and I need this car to go to work everyday. Its my only car! I researched the problem, and seen others with the same issue. It seems its the power steering motor and torque sensor. There was a recall on the vehicle for this very problem. The issue is you put a warranty on it for 150k miles or 10 year whatever comes first. My car is at 159k. This is totally unfair, I could seriously hurt myself or injure someone due to this recall, and if its a recall it should be a lifetime warranty. I dont have $600 to get the issue repaired, I have rent, a car payment, and other bills. Please extened my warranty, and fix my car so I can move on in life.

In 2014 there was a recall on chevy Malibu, we werent experiencing any problems but took it to the dealership instead. We are now experiencing problems with the steering. While car is still, and also in motion the steering wheel will shake very bad. When driving the steering wheel will lock up, and jerk causing you to have to grip the wheel extra hard to keep it straight. Failure Date: 08/18/2016

My steering wheel shaking/vibrating while in park, in motion and while turning. Was a recall on it. Unfortunately I bought the car in 2015 and can only find that the recall was supposedly done. No one can tell me where, and I looked online and find that these electrical power assists have been replaced and still yet failed again. Called Chevrolet and they will do nothing--my case for my car "has been closed out". . . Therefore it will be $700. 00 out of my pocket. Is there any way to be sure a recall was done and/or find out if the parts they replaced were also defective? started acting up in Aug. /sept and has worsened in the last month. Having it looked into while having a separate recall for break lamp malfunction done. Oct. 12, 2016.

12 Steering Wheel Vibrate problem

Failure Date: 09/10/2014

I purchased a 2008 chevy Malibu one year ago and has had steering and electrical problems after 2 months of ownership. The biggest problem is the power steering and lack of control. When the car is in park or driving, the steering wheel shakes and makes loud noises. When I'm driving, the wheel will jerk left and right and feel "stuck" in certain positions. I am terrified to drive the car because the wheel will turn and stick at any given moment. . . It has turned and stuck going into oncoming traffic on the street and highway. There is also issues with the car door locks going up and down, and I have replaced the headlight bulb twice within a year. I noticed the turning light/blinker going fast and slow and a couple of times the car speakers have gone in and out. My dealership has sent me around in circles with no care if this gets resolved. I contacted gm and I have a case number but no one has given me a resolution or even suggested help by gm or my dealership.

17 Steering Wheel Vibrate problem

Failure Date: 08/01/2013

Steering wheel shakes while car is idling and driving. Problem was intermittent. Power steering would fail while driving, pulling vehicle to the left. Gm had recalled many 2008 Malibu vehicles for the same problem. Steering wheel warning light would emit. I checked with my local dealer and they said it was covered. Replaced defective part, problem solved. 2 weeks later received a bill for the repair, the bill stated it wasn't covered since my VIN didn't fall in the brackets of vins for repair. Gm doesn't seem to want to do anything about it either. The dealer didn't contact me concerning the non coverage, just sent me a bill. This failure could have caused an accident as it would pull the car into oncoming traffic. This is a known problem and not sure why gm won't cover my vehicle. Their attitude seems that since the VIN doesn't fall in the category, it's not their problem.

Whether in park or driving the steering wheel shakes. While driving it is a constant fight to keep the car between the lines. The motion of the car is enough for passengers to notice the movement. This car is the 2. 4lt. 4 cylinder. It has electric power steering. Having experience with syncro servo systems this kind of effect could result in catastrophic failure of the transmitter or receiver resulting in loss of control. However chevy dealerships don't seem to have any mechanics qualified to work on these systems or a clear understanding as to how they really function.

26 Steering Wheel Vibrate problem

Failure Date: 03/01/2012

While driving down the highway at a speed of about 45 miles per hour, the steering wheel on my 2008 Malibu began to shake or vibrate while building speed. A power steering warning light came on. After pulling over, I turned the engine off and then turned it back on which seemed to reset the warning light. I knew about pulling over to reset the car due to an ?airbag warning? light that has randomly come on ever since I purchased my car. Upon resuming driving, the power steering warning light came on again. It took pulling over and resetting it four times to get twenty miles down the road. It came on at various speeds. Upon heading home, the steering wheel in my car moved while sitting still with the motor running. It looked like someone was turning the wheel back and forth and up and down, but I was not touching the wheel. The power steering warning light came on while sitting still, so I shut the car off to reset it. It took three tries of starting and starting the engine to reset the warning light. I drove home on a curvy county road. The same power steering warning light came on five time in less than twenty miles at various speeds - no certain speed seemed to prompt it. Sometimes I was going 20 mph and sometimes I was going 55 or 65 mph when the system failed. I had to stop in the roadway to reset the car. Each time, the steering became nearly impossible to turn and maneuvering the corners was not safely possible and since there was no shoulder, I had to stop in the roadway to try to reset the steering. The steering wheel shakes at various speeds and the power steering warning light continues to come on at various speeds or while sitting in park with the engine running.

28 Steering Wheel Vibrate problem

Failure Date: 10/12/2011

I purchased a 2008 chevy Malibu at matt blatt in egg harbor township in new jersey approximately 5 month (March or may of 2011) with approximately 28,500 miles. I spoke with a service representative don in regards to the power steering problem that my vehicle was having. My steering was shaking out of control and I almost got involved in two vehicle accidents this week 10/19/11. I explained this situation to don, who stated that because I did not purchased an extended warrantee on the vehicle I will had to pay for the service. I then proceeded to speak to the manager scott, who kindly sent me to the bennett Chevrolet on the same date and the problem was corrected. I own a 2008 chevy Malibu with 30,700 miles. I also have a problem with the power locks which I was advised that I will have to pay for this. I believe that my complaint was handled very unprofessional by don, because I was very specific that I was afraid to drive the vehicle and he stated ã‚we can towed your vehicle, but you will have to pay the feeã‚쳜. Again I was afraid because the power steering motor was damage and my vehicle was driving out of control. Iã‚m requesting some type of compensation and I will like the power locks to be fixed free of charge. Remember my car only has 30,700 miles and when I purchased the vehicle I was advised by the salesman jay r. Larmore that I had warrantee for 100,000 miles or 5 years bumper to bumper. I will like someone to investigate this. Thank god I didnã‚t have an accident due to the electronic power steering motor. I purchased in the past a 2 chevy impalaã‚s and now a chevy Malibu and I will never purchase a chevy again. Again, this was a safety issue and was handle wrong by service representative don . The steering wheel shakes when vehicle is in motion and the the vehicle is not moving.

While driving or not driving the steering wheel shakes vigorously and the power steering warning light comes on. Then the brake lights come on when I'm not touching them. When I do apply the brakes the lights go out. Then have to apply a generous amount of pressure to get them to come on. I constantly keep getting the light service esc then it says it is off. I turn off car and it resets but after 2 or 3 minutes it comes back on. I also keep getting a seatbelt light as to buckle up and I'm already wearing seatbelt.
