4 Brake Fluid Leak problem of the 2010 Chevrolet Malibu

Failure Date: 08/03/2017

The esc and traction warning lights came on. Esc not working so I was very very cautious driving. I took to dealer. $1200 + to replace 2 computer modules for brakes, steering, traction. This brings number of modules needing replacement to 4 on this vehicle. Eight days later, all the same lights came on again plus brake fluid light. Called dealer and told to bring car in for diagnostic. I asked about safety and was told to check brake fluid. I said I don't know how. So, I went to car and brake was harder but working. Drove to dealer. When I arrived, there is no brake fluid left. Lucky I made it to the dealer. Was told either part not installed properly or defective part. This was a very dangerous situation that could have cost my life or someone else's life. In researching later, I see a number of complaints about these warning lights and modules. I am lucky there was no incident.

1998 Chevrolet Malibu. Consumer writes to express discontent with local dealership. The consumer stated the brake was spongy, the abs light illuminated and the ac worked erratically, depending on the blower speed and would sometimes quit blowing cold air and would start to blow warm air. The consumer stated the brake fluid was very low. The dealer was unable to find any brake fluid leaks. However, two months later while driving, the brake pedal went to the floor, because the fluid had leaked out again. The brake lines were replaced. In addition, to the brake line issue, the sway bar was broken, a fuel line was leaking and the left rear strut had failed.

I drove a few miles more and the alarms would sound every time I hit the brakes. The car had to be flat bedded back to the dealer. The truck driver looked for brake fluid level, there was no brake fluid at all. I was informed later that the brake fluid had all leaked out the rear caliper. 9 Brake Fluid Leak problem of the 2008 Chevrolet Malibu

Failure Date: 06/01/2008

Approx. 10k on the vehicle when the brake pedal would get hard upon braking regardless of rain, snow or shine, it eventually got worse. After taking the car into the dealership 3x's the tech realized that the brake fluid was low. The tech found that the master cylinder was leaking break fluid into the brake booster. The brake booster was more than half full with fluid by the time the problem was noticed. The master cylinder was replaced on the vehicle due to mechanical failure. The brake system is still having various issues that cannot seem to be resolved with the vehicle having only 36,555 miles. The rotors have been turned so much that they already need replacement. The Malibu's brake system is faulty and needs to be investigated. I've talked to other Malibu owners that have had similar issues.
