Started my drive to work in the took a left turn, then applied brakes and the pedal went to the floor. Thankfully I was still going slow and didn't panic, put the car in neutral and slowly applied the parking brake. Parked the car and opened door and looked under car. Could see brake fluid near rear left tire. Applied brake again and could see brake fluid streaming from the metal brake line. Clearly a failure of the brake line. Corrosion caused the unsafe condition. Do not have pictures but I will be taking some as soon as I can get the car on a lift.

The contact owns a 2005 Chevrolet Malibu. While operating the vehicle at 51 mph, the brakes failed and the brake warning indicator illuminated. Upon inspecting the vehicle, the contact noticed that the brake line was disconnected and the screw was loose. Mega motors, inc. (565 s buckner blvd, dallas, TX) was contacted, but refused to address the safety issues due to the contact purchasing the vehicle as is. The dealer stated that they were absolved of all liability. An independent mechanic was contacted and confirmed the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 222,248.

Front to rear brake lines are heavily corroded and eroded and started leaking. The reservoir design allowed all the brake fluid to drain out leaving none available to safely brake the car with air being introduced into the whole system. All that was left was the parking brake which is a press on and press off to release style. Fortunately the car was close to home and there was no damage to persons or property.

I was driving near my home when a turkey ran out in front of my vehicle from the left. I was looking to the right as I approached my driveway. I saw the turkey out of the corner of my eye and I stepped hard on my brakes because I was unable to immediately identify the animal. My brake pedal went straight to the floor and, after stopping completely, I discovered that my driver side brake line had ruptured. I took the vehicle to a repair shop and was informed that all of my brake lines needed to be replaced. I was told that this brake line failure occurred because the lines were susceptible to corrosion caused by road salt.

100% of brake lines failed via rust also, control arms front/rear severely rusted.
The car was taken in for routine maintenance. Upon inspection the gm mechanic showed me that the brake lines were completely rusted out. There are other parts of the under body that have a lot of corrosion. There is potential risk of failure which could lead to an accident. The car has under 100,000 miles on it, is garage kept and very well maintained. Upon further research, there have been many complaints and accidents relating to this specific issue on gm vehicles. Discussing the problem with gm customer service, it was told that it would the responsibility of the local dealer to workout a method of payment but gm was essentially not going to be of any help. The local dealer clearly has no incentive to to bare the cost of the repair. This is a engineering design flaw that should be taken care of by the oem. Other vehicles by gm have had this problem but no recall or acknowledgment of this issue is present. Other oem have had similar problems and quickly addressed it has a free repair/recall to the their customers.

I was driving from the market and came to a stop sign but had no brakes. No sign of me not having any brakes before hand. . The emergency brake would not work also. There were no cars in the crossing and I went through and continued home. I got home which is about 1. 5 miles away and was able to pull into the driveway going as slow as I could. I called my husband and he said there was fluid all over the ground on the driver side. I have the pictures of the lines. When he looked the brake and gas lines had rusted through. If I had driven over the mountain to get home from the doctors I would not be here today. I also was told if a car had hit me gas line like that it could have started a fire. You need to check gas and brake line before someone dies. The cost to fix this, and I still don't have my car back is $2550. 00. I want something done . I should not have to pay for this. I should be refunded some or all of the cost. Chevy owner since 1965.
The bracket holding the brake manifold to the frame lost its bolts causing the front right brake line to rub the engine and cause a hole in the line. My wife lost all her brake fluid and also her brakes.
Front brakes are continuously wearing before they should. Front brake line collapsed. Front left brake pads replaced within a month because of wearing too quickly. Replaced brakes and rotor.
It appears the left front brake line has rubbed through causing a brake fluid loss and loss of power brake function.
It appears that the brake caliper and brake system have some defects. I've had brakes replaces 3 times since February of this year (2003). Checked the fluid level, hoses and lines. Brakes failed once at slow speed 30 mph. Haven't had a failure since, however, the system is eating up brake pads mostly on the left side.

We are a salvage yard in central west texas (no salt used here). We have noticed that on all late model gm vehicles with abs, if the pump is mounted below the battery their is a high rate of brake line failer due to corrosion from battery acid. We sell a lot of gm steel brake lines for this reason.

I lost all braking and had to stop the vehicle by shifting into lower gears and then park. Had this happened at highway speeds, I am sure a collision would have occurred. Fortunately, it occurred while I was driving on surface streets at slower speeds. I had the vehicle towed to a Chevrolet dealer and found out that the brake line running from the left side of the vehicle to the right front brake had been rubbing on the engine, and the engine had rubbed a hole in the line. This should not have happened. I am concerned that it will happen again to me, or to someone else who may be driving at higher rates of speed. Someone could be seriously injured or killed if this problem occurs on other Malibu's.
On the 22nd of October my vehicle had lost its brakes while traveling down a hill. My immediate response was to apply my emergency brake which did stop my car but also proceeded to cause it to crash. Upon investigation by my ins. Co. (nationwide ins. ) they found that both front brake hoses had frayed on the Malibu which had caused me to lose my brakes. Further action will be taken to be reimbursed for my vehicle which is now considered totalled. My concern is that this does not happen to other owners of the same type vehicle and I am further requesting a recall on the hoses of the Malibu. A report is available from my ins. Co @ p. O. Box 2655, 1000 nationwide drive harrisburg, PA 17105-9971 thank you, lydia m blihar.
Brake line too near bolt on side of engine, worn through due to friction, resulted in complete drainage of master cylinder.
