We had been driving for over an hour to our destination as I came to the second red light that was right past one we just passed with no problems, the brakes made a loud noise underneath the car and brakes would not work. As I pulled to the side of the road, you had to press brakes with both feet and everytime it would make a loud sound.

At approximately 9am on Aug 18, 2014, the brake system started to fail. Driver noticed that when brakes were applied it make a loud noise coming from the front end of the vehicle. Issue continued for the next few miles where it took an excessive amount of pressure to get the brakes to engage. Pedal goes almost all the way down to the floor to get any braking action.

I went to start the car and pressed the parking brake pedal, when suddenly I heard a loud noise and have no parking brake. I took the car to the dealer and their diagnose was that the parking brake cable broke because the rear brake pads were low, I am claiming them this is a mechanical defect that can cause an accident, due to a car roll over or not having an emergency brake. The pads were low but did not were on metal.

Emergency brake failed when releasing the brake. Loud noise was heard and then have no emergency brake. Took to the dealer and they told that it was owner fault, rear break pad were under their specification and that created too much stress to the cable, snaping it. Gm should revise their engineering desing for this safety device. Emergency brakes should be available even if pads are low. Definetively it is and manufacturing (design) defect. It could be a fatal accident if main brakes fail and need to use the emergecy brake and then cable snap leaving you without a proper braking device to stop your vehicle. Gm still behind that it was customer fault and will not fix this manufacturing defect.
Brake rotors and pads had to be replaced at 14,000 miles. Vibrations even though rotors/pads replaced. Currently at 36,000 miles. Also had loud noises when brakes first applied at cold start.
