The brake vacuum pump is bad they used to cheap chinese knockoff part that breaks and get sucked into the engine possibly causing engine failure but for the most part in your brakes can fail leaving the car without any breaking support from the booster vacuum I called the dealership the service advisor immediately told me to take the car to the dealer for work at general motors expense the brake vacuum pumps are failing at an alarming rate causing serious damage and possibility of injury 5 minutes after I did everything they told me I recalled the dealing to confirm my appointment they refused to answer the phone and put me on hold then when they answer the phone they told me that the servants advisor I talked to no longer works there best Chevrolet kenner louisiana 70062 without the vacuum pump the brakes are very hard the press the car is very difficult to stop especially at high speeds I'm trying to get this fixed but general motors is refusing the service advisor told me the best thing that I can do is to pay for everything and whenever general motors feels like doing a recall I maybe can get reimbursed.

While driving my 2011 Chevrolet Malibu ltz, I experienced brake failure. This failure was only temporary; while driving approaching a stop light, I went the apply the brakes and the pedal had almost no pressure. It almost went the the floor before I began pumping the brakes. Unfortunately this did not work, which led to my car rear ending the vehicle in front of me. After bringing the vehicle to a stop, I made my best attempt to inspect the brakes and brake fluid, and noticed almost nothing. The only thing I had noticed was slight low brake fluid. After further research, I read a few complaints related to both electronic power steering rack issues, and brake failure. Both of these which I experienced. All of which happened at speeds below 40 mph on a city street.

The contact stated they had to use an excessive amount of pressure in order for the brake pedal to move downwards and stop the vehicle. The vehicle's stability control system warning light illuminated. The contact had contacted the dealership (don brown Chevrolet located at 2244 kingshighway blvd, saint louis, mo 63110 phone number 314-282-7887) who took the information the contact provided and informed the contact that they would have a representative reach out, however, the contact had not heard back from the dealership. Car was initially brought to independent service center in savannah, GA. They were able to replicate the problem with the breaking system, but could not determine the root cause. Specifically, the breaks fail when the car is placed in reverse. It may be temperature sensitive as it is experienced when the car is starting up - typically in the morning. They sought help from vaden Chevrolet in savannah, GA. The car was in their possession for 1+ weeks and they did not find a problem with the breaking system. The car was then returned to the independent service center where they continue to study the problem. When the car was returned to independent service center and vaden failed to acknowledge this safety issue, I contact general motors (1-866-636-2273) to report this safety issue directly. The individual my case was assigned to, "amy", did not follow up on action items and when I tried to return her calls, her voicemail box was full. I asked for this case to be escalated today (2/5/2020), but she indicated she was at the top - no one to escalate issue to. When I asked if she reported directly to gm's ceo, mary barra, she stated she did not know who that was. I have been without a car for quite sometime now (months) and would like this safety issue to be acknowledged by gm as it was acknowledged by my independent repair center. I am trying to prevent a serious problem (brakes failing while car is in use), but gm is not listening. I will not drive my car until it is addressed, but it's quite possible this problem exists in other 2015 chevy Malibu's where perhaps the drivers aren't yet aware or don't understand the potential seriousness of this issue with an unaddressed, unknown root cause. I'm grateful for any assistance. Thank you.

Tl- the contact owns 2016 Chevrolet Malibu. The contact stated that while driving at 60 mph, the reduce power in the engine warning light illuminated and the vehicle gradually began to lose power. The contact pulled over and restarted the vehicle; however, the vehicle would not travel over 60 mph. The contact also stated that he had experienced brake failure while he was approaching a stop light. The contact stated that while depressing the brake pedal, the brakes failed to respond in a timely matter. The contact took the vehicle to all american Chevrolet of killeen 1802 e central texas expy, killeen, TX 76541 254-213-5397 where a diagnostic was performed and discovered that the vehicle had a defective brake booster, a defective vacuum pump and a overcharged battery. They also informed the contact that he two recalls NHTSA campaign number 16v521000(hybrid propulsion system) and NHTSA campaign number: 16v272000(electronic stability control). The contact was informed by the dealer that due to the bumper to bumper warranty a recall could not be performed on the vehicle. The vehicle remained in the possession of the dealer. The manufacturer had not been notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 71,493. Jo.
When exiting off the freeway traveling approximately 65 mph the brakes failed to stop the car. Brake pedal became solid making it impossible to stop or even slow the car down. Engine light popped on and when diagnosed, the following codes appear: brake booster pressure sensor, worn/damaged vacuum lines, corroded/damaged connector, damage/faulty wiring, defective brake booster, defective pcm.
Vehicle was traveling at 65mph on a highway. Brakes were applied suddenly to avoid an accident when the power brake booster failed resulting in essentially no braking ability at all. The brake booster failed a second time after being replaced from the initial incident. Luckily this happened in a parking lot at slow speed, but the car has no braking capability to avoid an accident, it takes several dozen car lengths to stop the vehicle even at slow speeds. Incidents were about 2 years apart, the most recent being on 06/03/19. I see no active recalls on the power brake booster but it seems unusual to have 2 failures of this critical item.

In December of 2018 on a road trip, my brakes failed; I literally had to slam on the brakes to get the car to stop. This happened on the pennsylvania turnpike, with myself, my mother and my 5 year old daughter in the car. You can imagine the fear I felt at that time. Thankfully, I was able to merge onto the shoulder of the road and wait for a tow truck. My car was taken to a Chevrolet dealership in harrisburg, PA and it took them a week to replace the vacuum pump. July 2019 I notice that my engine light is on and there is a message on my dashboard that states reduced engine power. I immediately made an appointment for service at the dealership that I initially purchased the car from. My car has been there since Tuesday, July 23, 2019 and they tell me that the anti-lock brake system has failed and they are still trying to pinpoint why the engine light is on. The dealership suggested that we take the car home and bring it on another day, but again, leaving the dealership, the brake pedal became stiff and we could not apply pressure to it! they have since replaced the vacuum pump again.
Brake system failure weak brake pedal and pressure.

This time I was traveling approx 45 mph and the person in front of me slammed on their brakes. I went to do the same and the brake pedal went to the floor without stopping the car at all. I collided with the car in front of me causing major damage to my car and injuries to my shoulder, neck and back.

When driving, at low speed in the city, or on the highway at speed, power steering and power brakes intermittently fail without warning (according to the repairing dealer, vehicle is unsafe and should not be driven); dash gauges go on and off; traction control and electronic stability control turn own and off without warning; dash lights go on and off without warning; bells and buzzers ring; door locks cycle, and theft deterrent warnings illuminate. Dealer has attempted multiple times to repair it by replacing the body control module. It is at the dealer service department now, has been there for a full week and at this point is still unsafe.

Brakes failed. I am concerned with 3 recalls on major parts: ignition, power steering and brakes. I had to pay for a brake repair out of pocket because the car was totally unsafe to drive. I should get a refund. I have 3 recall letters and I am told the parts are unavailable. This is not safe. I need my car to drive 30 miles across town to work.

I have an 2007 Malibu LS v6, one night I placed my car in park, turned the engine off, removed my key and seatbelt like I normally do and the car continued to roll forward. I attempted to press the brakes which did not respond and the car rolled off of a small cliff. I along with a passenger were in the vehicle at the time and since we were in the process of exiting we were thrown forward when the front of the vehicle hit the ground. I played that day back so many times and could not understand why the car did that. It was a very scary event and I don't attempt to park on inclines anymore. Since this event, I have received two recalls from the company with no date in correcting the issue. I am afraid I will attempt to stop and the brakes will fail again. Thank goodness this first time did not result in a physical injury, just a traumatizing event.

Car slid on slush and brakes failed to work though pressed all the way down; crashed into a snowbank damaging the front end of my car. The dealership said they could not recreate the problem and they already had done the recall on the part in October 2013 but was the part they replaced it with faulty as the original?.
Coming to a stop on an off ramp, brakes failed couldn't stop. (it had been raining). 2nd incident on June 26, 2013, going down highway and service traction light with sec light came on and car was powering down and steering was difficult. Called landmark service center in taylorville, illinois they told me to turn the car off, then restart (of course lights went out) and drive it to the nearest gm garage. (I was out of town at the time). When I arrived at the location they put it on the computer and of course nothing showed up because the lights were not on. On Wednesday I took may car to landmark in taylorville to have the oil changed and to see if they could check on the problem. And true to form the computer showed nothing because the lights were no on. But was told if this happened again to go to the nearest service center and don't turn the car off. I've had this experience and it is very dangerous when in traffic. And am scared to drive the car out of town. I like my car and want to keep it but if the problem is not fixed someone may get hurt. But before that happens I will trade the car and I assure you that I will not by another gm product and will tell everyone of the problems I had.
