2 Engine Belts And Pulleys problem of the 2013 Chevrolet Malibu

Failure Date: 03/29/2021

I been had this vehicle since 2018 nothing but issues few months having this vehicle I start experiencing issues with radio coming on and going off for no reason so took it to get looked at the said it was from wiring in the passenger side seat that was causing it so I paid $400 to get that fixed. But still was and is having same issues with electrical and now my heat comes on by itself even when the knob is in the off position. My passenger side seat belt warning goes off even when no ones in the seat. And to top it off my car been running bad engine overheating but nothing on my dashboard is telling me that but I can smell burning from my engine coming through my vents and it's exhausting. I have been to many shops to get it looked at but they keep saying nothing wrong no codes where coming up nor was my engine light on. But as of 3/29/2021 I had multiple icons pop up on my dashboard and now my engine light on. So I finally got a code p228d come up and I been explaining to auto shops that's something wrong because it's not wanting to pick up speed. So what can I do I'm tired spending money to get it looked at and all I'm getting from people nothing is wrong with your vehicle. But there is truly something wrong with this vehicle and it does this no matter where I'm at on highway, street, when I'm idle it's a loud noise and I can feel the heat from the engine coming through the floor of my vehicle.

Failure Date: 03/06/2020

I was driving on the I-10 west highway at 70mph when all of a sudden a engine power reduced message came across the screen & due to the loss of acceleration I was almost rear ended by an 18 wheeler because I couldn't pull over to the side of the road fast enough. . . Also, on some days when I start my car it doesn't make any noise so therefore the radio will not work, the signal light sounds doesn't work, nor does the seatbelt sounds work .

Had previous engine work done under warranty (which dearlership #1 tried to charge me $400. Until I pressed the warranty). I bought it there. They mentioned it was tilted. They took pictures and have a video where they said a rag or bottle cap was not near engine. I have not view this tape. Called gm - made a compliant against dealer - they escalate gm calls back. Advised take to dealership. Anyone, took to another - do not trust the original. Gm dealership #2 - said filter had metal parts in it - they said it was crushed, asked to drop pain, quoted $350. Dealer #2 - drops pan and says the following in an email and sent pictures:the following pictures show the vehicles oil pan removed and foreign debris in the bottom. 16 Engine Belts And Pulleys problem of the 2011 Chevrolet Malibu

Failure Date: 02/06/2014

I called and made a complaint yesterday regarding my vehicle dropping from 60 mph to 30 mph in the midst of morning traffic. I took the car to the dealership and was told that I need to let the car sit idle whenever this happens for a moment and then it should reset and be fine. Well, this happened to me 4 times this morning, 3 of those times my two children were in the car with me. The roads were slick this morning with rain/snow and my car first did this at interstate 35 and illinois, I pulled over for two minutes and then I was able to proceed. It did it again at interstate 35 and regal row and had to again sit on the side of the road for 2 minutes. I reached carrollton and it did it again on beltlline road and then on 161 and trinity. Mind you, the first two incidences happened before daylight. The second incident also put us in danger of having an accident as an 18 wheeler was right behind me as the car began jerking and decreasing speed. I was barely able to move to the median before I was sideswiped. The first three incidences the car decreased to 30 mph and would not increase. On the fourth incident my car would not increase past 25 mph. This vehicle put me in much danger this morning, especially with the weather (snow) conditions in our area.

18 Engine Belts And Pulleys problem of the 2009 Chevrolet Malibu

Failure Date: 07/16/2013

Seats - front driver power seat, there is a bracket or brace that goes across the front and supports the seat, it is welded, the weld is broken, after doing forum and google searches this is a common problem for years with the broken weld, causing the seat to become unstable and allowed to rock while driving. Engine - the front engine oil seal or crankshaft pulley seal is prone to leaking, there is service bulletin out about this issue for a 6 cyl model, apparently the 4cyl model has the same problem. The fix is to have the seal replaced with an updated style constructed with a better spring and seal wiper. This can cause a substantial oil leak, even though this could not cause (to the best I know) a serious problem, it does cause oil to leak along the frame and onto the bottom of the engine and possibly onto the exhaust piping behind the engine. It also cause an environment issue causing motor oil to leak onto the ground.

19 Engine Belts And Pulleys problem of the 2001 Chevrolet Malibu

Failure Date: 12/14/2011

Approached intersection in turning lane to make left turn. Upon making such turn, vehicle did not accelerate as fast as it should. Was told second driver ran red light and collided with my vehicle in a head on collision. I was informed that my vehicle was struck on front passenger side. I remember hearing the crash and the car spinning out of control. Both airbags did deploy, as I was floating over the gear shift. Was told at the scene left leg was broken at the ankle per paramedic. Right leg was confirmed broken at the ankle at the hospital. I was wearing my seat belt, I had a burn mark that lasted almost six months. I spent 22 days in the hospital, I started as ortho-truama, went to surgery the next day to repair my left leg with 1 plate and 8 screws. Three days later, I had complications from my injuries. I went to pulmonary icu (picu). Two days after being stabilized, I went back to surgery to repair my right leg with 2 plates and 10 screws. It took 10 months to be able to walk again, with a cane and a limp. . . Right leg is noticeably shorter than my left it took a year to have feeling to the top of my right foot at my big toe. I have lost my nursing career due to not being able to do my job. Walking and standing, lifting, bending or pushing a medicine cart for long periods of time is impossible. I have been declared dis-abled.

20 Engine Belts And Pulleys problem of the 2007 Chevrolet Malibu

Failure Date: 02/01/2011

The following codes are active; p0463 fuel level sensor a circuit high input, b0561 abs $43 sys disabled and c0561 sys disabled issues. The fuel gauge was fluctuating, but has now stopped working. The service engine soon light came on and will not reset to off. The service seat belt warning message came on. The problems were intermittent prior to 50,000 miles, but now, just after 50,000 miles nothing resets. I have found that this is a common problem and the repairs are very expensive, yet nothing has been done to convince gm to recall and make repairs. We own a 2006 Malibu with 35,000 miles on it. Now, I'm worried that it is going to have the same problem as our 2007 Malibu. And, who wants to face those repair bills!.

21 Engine Belts And Pulleys problem of the 2005 Chevrolet Malibu

Failure Date: 09/08/2010

My vehicle stalled on railroad tracks I did have a heavy load on the key chain and when it would not move I kept hitting the gas pedal but it would not move when in the process of raising my leg up and down on the gas pedal I hit the ignition switch the engine failed I then put it in reverse and nothing I said to myself I have got to get out of this car the train is going to hit so I was able to unleash my seatbelt and open the door that is the time when the union pacific train hit right in front of my driver s front door I was thrown 30 feet from the vehicle and of course the car was totaled. I was airlifted to th hospital when they finally found me in a rice feild. I almost died from this accident . I did not receive a letter from gm stating the problem with the vehile that it would cut the engine off as I stated before. It took me 2 1/2 years to recoperate. And I still live with problems to my neck and shoulder. I had my spleen removed ,contusions to my head ,which to this day I stutter, I also had my spine twisted, I suffer with that also. Anyway I just found out about the recall from a total stranger, last week the next day I entered my VIN number on the gm website and it is a vehicle that is on the recall list.

23 Engine Belts And Pulleys problem of the 2004 Chevrolet Malibu

Failure Date: 08/13/2010

Upon acceleration using the gas pedal, the car loses total control of its steering. All engine lights and failure lights go on. Sometimes just making a simple turn at an intersection, the car loses complete steering capability. This has happened at various speeds, including on the highway at 50 mph accelerating over a slight incline or at 10 mph at an intersection while making a left or right turn. I noticed trouble with the steering when I first bought my car under warranty but it wasn't as severe. Just when backing out of a parking space the steering was tight, but the dealership could not find the problem. I have had the short rack steering gear, steering rack, intermediate shaft, and serpentine belt replaced but to no avail. . Read more...

25 Engine Belts And Pulleys problem of the 2006 Chevrolet Malibu

Failure Date: 03/03/2010

I have a 2006 chevy Malibu that I bought in sacramento CA. Via paul blanco dealer on franklin and florin rd. (they are no longer in business at that site). The car accelerates dangerously when on cruise control. The car began overheating immediately after purchase (oil lube place detected an engine gasket that needs to be replaced because it continues to overheat; unless I keep the heater and or ac going; the steering column had to be re greased and re-adjusted at firestone a few months ago because all of a sudden it would lock. The a/c compressor immediately went bad after purchasing this car. I had to buy another one which cost a good amount! soon after purchase (used vehicle with approx. 10,300 miles) the brakes went out and had to be replaced! in Jan. 2010, I noticed the seat belt light kept coming on, even after it was locked in (which is very dangerous because I don't know when and if its going to keep me safe when driving); erc. Etc. . I need someone to contact the dealer of chevy so that owners can go get these things checked out and fixed the right way. I attempted to call the numbers given warranty etc. And nothing was resolved.

She was able to restart the vehicle after waiting approximately 40 minutes. The dealer was unable to diagnose the failure. The warning indicator light illuminated when trying to restart the vehicle; however, details the warning indicator was not in the manual. The warning indicator was of someone sitting in the seat and the contact confirmed that it was not related to the seat belt. The left and right turn signals failed intermittently, unless the hazard button is used. There is a recall for the exterior lighting hazard flashing warning lights switch (NHTSA campaign #03v327000); however, the dealer stated that her VIN was not included. The current mileage was 144,778. Updated 02-01-08.

28 Engine Belts And Pulleys problem of the 2001 Chevrolet Malibu

Failure Date: 04/24/2006

I need to know who can I speak with in regards to gm having a recall on the intake manifold gasket for all 2001 Chevrolet Malibu's. I have been told the manager at advanced auto parts that several 2001 Malibu owners come in to purchase coolant, as well as myself, as our gasket is leaking, which causes us to have to refill at least once a month or sooner. I have also checked online and there are several other people having the same problem, to the point that I fell a recall should be done. Some individuals noted that they contacted their car dealer and the gasket was changed to a newer one that they are using in the newer cars. However, I contacted my dealership an was told that there's nothing they can do, as there are no recalls on the vehicle. I need someone to contact me ASAP regarding this problem. It's not fair to myself, the consumer, to have to pay out of pocket to get this manufacturer default corrected. Too many people are having this same problem for it not be recalled. Please, please contact me at 410/917-7327. Thank you for your immediate attention to my concern.

29 Engine Belts And Pulleys problem of the 1998 Chevrolet Malibu

Failure Date: 10/09/2003

I had to have the rack & pinion system replaced on my 1998 Malibu along with the power steering pump pulley due to being worn thru and unsafe to drive by the service techinicians recommendation. This was done at 68719 miles. I also had the intake valves replaced 2 months ago for the second time due to leakage of lots of oil into the engine, also per the service technicians recommendation. This was only 14 months after it was done the last time. I have my service done at a Chevrolet dealership and I think that 68719 miles is low mileage to have to replace the rack & pinion system. I also think that I was given faulty intake valves on the original engine and also on the first replacement. I am also taking my car back for the 3rd visit to try and fix the chirping sound that is coming from the engine. I also replaced the serpentine belt and bearings 2 months ago when the intake valves were done.
