Esc turns off and on by itself while driving. Service power steering light comes on and the wheel is hard to turn I have to kill the car and restart it to get it to start working again. When I press my breaks the car jerks and the esc acvtive light comes on. The passenger side headlight goes in and out by itself I've replaced the bulb but it seems to be a wiring issue.
While driving and in motion the vehicle back in January I would lose all steering control, the eps light would come on. I work 45 miles from home and most of that is highway. I had to slip the car into neutral, turn it off then back on to get it to kick back in 5 times before I was able to get it home. Stopping in the main highway was not an option as it was dark and not safe. I nearly ran into a medium barrier and had to stop all traffic behind going 65 mph or more. The car is still sitting in my driveway. Not safe - thank god my granddaughter was not in the care with me. When you turn the car on now there is no steering and the esp light is still on. To costly to repair.
My break lights are reversed or just don't work sometimes. Also my esc and power steering lights keep coming on and my power steering goes out every 10-15 miles causing me to have to try and pull off the road to restart my car and reset it. After having almost been in 12 accidents due to this process and reading up on several others having the same issues I believe in full this needs looked into.

Upon driving the car the esc light and power steering light will come on and care will have no power steering. Steering wheel also moves on it's on and makes sounds inside the column. Very dangerous for my wife to have to drive and drop off the kids at school. Nothing but problems out of the car since we purchased it 3 years ago.
I had a power steering light come one, and my esc light come on. These lights came on with no warning and disable those features while I was driving down the highway, going 57 mph, after a major ice and snow storm. I am unable to control my vehicle while it is on the road.
My daughter's 2006 chevy Malibue has a steering problem. She heard the indicator bell from the dash and then her steering indicator light came on the dash. This tells us there is a problem in her steering system. She has experienced a slight loss of power steering and found it the be a little harder to steer. . Your web site has indicated that there is a recall for the 2006 and 2007 chevy Malibue manufacturerd certain months. We called our local dealership to fine if my daughter's car was one of the defective cars with a power steering electrical modules. They stated no. I like to know what the difference between a car manufactured in February and one in April. There built on the same assembly line using the same parts. My complaint is that someone else with the same year and model get there car fixed and she does not. She has a low paying job and cannot really afford the repair bill. Gm needs to fix all 2006 chevy Malibu s.

While in motion, the car's abs light will come on and then shortly after that, the power steering light comes on. The steering wheel becomes locked up and very stiff, making it very difficult to turn and drive. Had to pull over several times to reset the battery just to make it from the gas station to an auto parts store. This has been happening over the course of about a week and an half.
Loss of power steering while driving car. Very hard to turn steering wheel, steering wheel locked up. Eps, eps offand power steering light came on dash display. Had to bring car to stop and restart engine and then was ok to drive.
Was driving on a city street approaching an s bend going down hill with a steep embankment when the power steering failed. Power steering esc lights went activated. I almost went over the embankment before being able to forcefully turn the wheel and continued to the bottom of the hill and off to the side of the road. I was close to home so I was able to drive the car home. I called for a tow truck driver. When he arrived the power steering was fine no power steering messages. He was aware of previous recalls but this vehicle has no active recall even though it is the exact problem covered by same year make and model.
My power steering light went on and my esc light went on and it lost traction while waiting in line to drop my daughter off at school. I had been driving my car for 5mins and luckily it went out there and not while driving I could barely turn the wheel and ended up driving on the side walk.

There have been multiple times now where my power steering light will turn on my dashboard, then it turns to manual steering which is very difficult to turn and almost caused me to crash my vehicle when trying to merge off to the shoulder. Seems to be more common when going 30 mph or under but has happened when going 75 mph on highway. Last time was today when I went to get new set of tires and it locked up on the technician. It will happen at random times and if I restart my car problem seems to go away for awhile.
Steering warning light came on and beeped. A recall was performed in oct 2014 for the same problem recalls 14116 and 13036 but it looks like its back. Called gm and they sent me to a dealer rodger dean and they said it needs a steering column. It happened while driving the car to work.
Service power steering light illuminated along with anti lock brakes (abs) and service vehicle soon light illuminated. After all three lights illuminated and appeared on center dash console, the Chevrolet Malibu began to jerk and stall aggressively and violently. Then the power steering was disabled and no. Power to the car. The car power shutoff and car came to a complete stop. Tried to restart car but car does not turn on but car was electrical power, radio turns on and other electrical devices work fine. 15 minutes later the car turns on normally but once put into drive the car jerks and stalls then powers off completely.

The steering wheel would twitch then it became very hard to turn while in motion. The power steering and esc off lights came on.
Power steering upon ignition lights up and locks power steering. Turn off and restart several times before operational. Abs light intermittently comes on while driving. Electric assist power steering. Both in stationary and while driving in city and highway.
The service esc light came on, then the power steering light came on. I was in motion at the time about to make a turn. After a few days of the problem being intermittent, my car wouldn't start at all. I tried to start it and nothing. Replaced battery and a engine power reduced light came on. Car still won't start.
There was difficulty with the power steering under all driving conditions. The power steering indicator light appeared within the driver information center. The current mileage at the time of service was 144,961 miles. On page 1 of the attached document, dealer diagnostics identified the steering torque sensor has an internal failure. On page 2, the vehicle was previously repaired under recall at 115,069 miles, and would not be replaced under recall at this time. The previous recall replacement part is obviously defective when, with less than 30,000 miles since recall replacement, the part failed again. The owner should be reimbursed by Chevrolet for substandard recall replacement with inadequate parts. Recall = n140116.
Power steering has gone out in the car, getting esc repair light and power steering lights on the console. Extremely difficult to turn, especially at low speeds. Occured while driving in the city.
Starting car and power steering light comes on. I turn it off and back on and it's fine. This just started.
I was driving home from work on the highway and the power steering light came on and my car was hard to steer.
Service powering steering light came on and steering went out immediately went out no warning was not able to steer car. Got the car home turned off let sit turn back on had steering but steering wheel shook back and forth moving and at idol. Took to dealership and was told recall expired 10/18 but was never informed that there was one ended up having to pay 1200. 00.
On or around Feb 19, 2019 my power steering gave out while driving to work. I pulled over and restarted my car since it was almost impossible for me to turn the wheel. After restarting my car seemed to be fine. Until it happened again. The power steering light appeared on my dash and then again I could barely make any turns which is completely unsafe especially if I had to turn to get to a safe area to restart my car. After my own research, I called Chevrolet and I was told that there was a recall on a similar part that would cause the same things as I was having and if I took it into a chevy dealership and had it officially diagnosed as the same issue as the recall which was a torque sensor with the power steering shaft I would be able to get reimbursed for the $110 diagnosis fee and the cost of repairing the vehicle. On Feb 26 2019 is when I had my apt at camp Chevrolet in spokane, wa ph:5094440968. They informed me that in fact it was the same part as the previous recall but because my car had already been fixed by that recalled part, before I owed it, that they wouldn't cover that cost. I would not of taken it to the dealership if I wasn't informed that with proper diagnose I would be able for reimbursement. This is a very dangerous issue and it was not caused by erratic driving but a known issue that was identified enough to cause the recall in the first place.
