The Malibu steering wheel shakes while running while stopped and sometimes while driving locks up and stops allowing me to turn, this has happened while driving on city streets as well as on the highway and it is impossible to steer when the steering wheel doesn't turn. I have seen reports that the electronic steering assistance is recalled on newer models of this Malibu but I am having the same issue on this one and I am upset that Chevrolet didn't recall all of the vehicles with this same system and issues.

My car lost power steering while driving. After turning the car off and back on sometimes power steering comes back, sometimes it doesnt. If it does come back now my steering wheel shakes violently and if I'm driving down the highway I can feel it pulling me side to side as it rocks back and forth on its own.
Recently bought a Malibu 2009 ,4 cylinder. When I bought the car the steering wheel was shaky as I drove the car. After a 4 days of purchase I went on the freeway and the service esc / power steering came on the dash board . I exited the freeway when making a left turn it was difficult to turn the steering wheel . I pulled over to the side and turned the car off and then back on the car was again drivable but after about 5 mins the car did the same thing again and I could not manage to steer the wheel to make left or right turns.

My vehicle has lost steering after starting several times over the last week. My info screen displays an esc and power steering message and my steering wheel is locked in place. Once the car is shut off and restarted the messages go away and steering is back to normal. I have found a recall related to this on certain vehicles of my year/make/model and also many forums of people having the same issues. However, when searching by VIN it says my vehicle has 0 recalls. I have also noticed when my vehicle is stopped, or in park my steering wheel will shake for a moment and then stop.
The steering wheel shakes when engine is running and the power steering info light appears.
Stationary steering wheel shakes, esc off light then it's says power steer steering wheel is almost impossible to move.
On 2/5/2020 while driving to work my steering wheel started to twitch while driving . After I arrived to work and put it in park the steering wheel was shaking back and fourth. Now after work I come out it had no power steering esc light on and a message power steering problem. Took VIN to dealer no recall for my car. This is a common problem with these gm electric power steering systoms. There are recalls out there for this problem. 2012 Malibu included just not mine. Very dangerous.
Power steering is not working just in the last week. Sometimes it works but the steering wheel shakes even when I'm not moving the car. Other times it doesnt work at all.

I was driving and my power steering went out making it extremely difficult to turn the wheel. I had to pull over turn the car off and the problem stopped for a few miles then happened again. My steering wheel is now shaking and pulling to one side without being touched. This problem has happened on both city streets and highways, as well as when I start the car.
While sitting idle my steering wheel shakes erratically. Sometimes when I start the car the service esc and power steering shows on my dash, when I turn the car off and back on again it will not appear again and the steering is back. The steering wheel shakes while driving if I turn the steering wheel slightly to one side it stops. It seems to happen when it is very cold out.
Electrical power steering randomly gives out while driving the car making it extremely difficult to control car and make turns. Steering wheel shakes a lot when driving or parked. I checked online and Malibu's 2006-2007 have a recall for the same issue. I called chevy service and was told there was no recall for my car with my VIN.
Two days ago, I noticed that my steering wheel would shake when I would stop at a light or something but I could still drive. That same night, I turned on my car to leave a parking lot when my steering wheel locked up. It would not budge. I noticed that it said my esc system needed to be checked. I turned my car on and off 5 times to see if it would move and it did not. On the 6th try, the wheel moved and I took the chance to drive my car to the dealership. After 2 days of working on my car, they determined that sensor went bad. After looking online, I see this is a common problem that is very dangerous. I commute 2 hours round trip each day on the interstate and I am so thankful that this happened in a parking lot.
I called gm because my steering wheel is vibrating and I am loosing power steering. They informed me that there was a special repair window and not a recall. They informed me that I was not notified about this and that they window has passed so they will not be doing any repairs. The wheel shakes when turning the wheel and looses power steering.
The steering wheel is shaking rapidly while sitting idle.

Start the car and esc is off and power steering is off. Shut the car off, restart and it comes on. Sometimes it takes a couple of times. Also when it is on and sitting with the car in drive, the steering wheel shakes back and forth.
Sudden loss of power steering while driving back around Nov 2019. Steering wheel shaking when the problem first began almost as if it was switching between having power steering to no power steering. Service esc power steering message. A few months later the problem suddenly went away. Now it's Feb 2021 and it started doing it all over again a couple months ago (Nov 2020). My VIN is not included in the recall even though other 2009 models were recalled for the same issue. Gm needs to step up and fix this on their own dime.
My car steering wheel is hard to turn while in motion, turning, backing out and the steering wheel shakes and rattles as well while sitting still or moving it makes this rattle sound right before it gets tight. I have called Chevrolet about the issue my mechanic looked to see if there was a recall on the car and there was. When I called Chevrolet they stated that there wasnt. I have also seen online myself that there is a recall and others are having the very same issue. The recall number is 14e044000 steering shaft.
I have taken my car into the dealership 2 different times now because of the steering wheel randomly shaking while going down a straight road. They have tried to replicate it but it seems to do it randomly. Ive noticed it is around 38 mph. If my hands barely come off of the steering wheel it starts shaking back and forth. This is happening just driving around the city on straight roads. Once I put my hands back on the wheel it stops. They cannot seem to figure out what it is. It has happened randomly ever since I purchased my car brand new about a year ago.

Sometimes when I am driving or turning the car on, my power steering indication light comes on and the power steering goes completely out. Once I cut the car off and back on, it will start working normal again. My steering wheel shakes when idling and makes a ticking noise. It says a recall similar to my issue was already repaired on the vehicle but I do not believe it was properly fixed.
