The weld on the drivers side seat has broken making the seat unstable. I was getting into the car and heard it snap then fall toward the middle of the car. This is a safety issue and gm needs to take care of the problem and not charge people $1000+ to fix it. The car has never been in a major accident, only a minor rear end collision that did minimal damage to the rear bumper.
The metal on side of seat broke causing the seat not to be able to adjust. Also, electrical problems lighter had shortage and speaker sounds increase and decrease with being adjusted, and the light for the tire pressure remain on even when the tires has sufficient air. I didn't notice an exact time the defect happen. I just notice the affects while driving.

Driver seat weld broke at the rigjt rear and left front without being in an accident. I was sitting in the seat and went to adjust it and it broke on the way up, then the left side on the way down. I have seem on the internet that there are several complaints to gm and nearly all are denied to be repaired at dealers cost. This is a safety issue that should be looked at ASAP.
Passenger low beam headlight keeps failing every couple of months this is a big problem with all chevy Malibus. Driver seat back breaks and causes the seat to be unsafe.
The driver side seat is broken. Was riding down the street and it just popped. Now it rocks and bounce everytime you hit a bump or hump in the road.
"takata recall". . . . While driving my vehicle making a left turn I heard a loud noise, position got uncomfortable have to sit very very low while driving and sometimes seat kind of lift up when moving. Brought to dealership and tells me my seat is broke and it requires a new assembly. How does a seat just break? this is a safety issue! too expensive to fix so driving unsafe is not good at all.
On 10/17/18 I was just about to pull onto the suburban side street that I live on, going approximately 10 mp, when I suddenly heard a very loud "clunk" or "snap" and immediately felt my driver's seat shift downward and to the right. After completing my turn, I pulled to the side of the road, put my vehicle in park and noticed that the entire driver's seat was "loose. " I got out of my vehicle and the driver's seat was tilted toward the center console, on a downward angle, the seat was rocking back and forth/up & down when I gently touched it. What a serious safety issue! if this happened while I was just driving down a suburban side street at a low speed, then what would happen in an accident? one thing I want to point out is that shortly prior to my seat breaking, I had used my automatic controls on the side of the seat to adjust my seat slightly. I adjusted the height and tilt of the frame (not the angle of the back of the seat). It appears that I am not the only individual who has had this experience, that is scary! I am waiting to get an estimate from the chevy dealership I go to, and I am hoping it is covered under my extended warranty. My car is a 2011 Malibu and is just under 50,000 miles. It is serviced regularly by the same dealership I purchased it at, there is no reason why this should have happened!!!!!!! very scary to drive with a seat that is no longer secured properly. It does not appear that this is being addressed by Chevrolet, either as a recall, safety investigation, or etc. If this happens to 1 or 2 people, maybe coincidence, but google is full of reviews with this complaint. In fact, when searching on google for "driver seat broken" the first thing that comes up is this exact issue in a Malibu!!! there are a couple other search results on the first page that are this exact issue in a Malibu as well.
The driver seat weld broke. This is a very well known problem with gm cars and what is it gm is going to do to repair my car? I want it fixed ASAP as it is very unsafe to drive. I need my car.
Driver's seat suddenly became wobbly and leans to right side. Noticed bar in underneath frame of seat has broken at a weld, making the driver's seat very shaky and unstable when driving. This is a common problem with this style of Malibu seats and a very costly repair. This issue should provoke a recall and replacement by gm.
I was driving and the right side of the driver seat collapsed. After parking the vehicle I became aware that the seat was loose. I began to inspect it and noticed that a bar broke in the seat frame. Since the seatbelt is attached to the seat this is a huge safety issue.
The track on the driver's side seat is broken. The seat moves all over and hits the center console. This is very unsafe and is a huge concern. Was told that this is not covered under warranty.
The drivers seat assembly broke . The seat shifted to the right and down. A weld broke on the seat assembly. This makes the car very unsafe to drive. Is there a recall on this? what do I do about this? is there anyone I can contact?.

Driver's seat bracket on right side has broken and seat is wobbly and leaning on the center console. This appears to be a common problem with the 2012 Malibu (and other years) and isn't being covered by warranty. Many people are saying this is a $1000 repair at the dealer. This is an unsafe condition and needs to be recalled-- consumers shouldn't have to pay for this defect.
Driver seat frame breaking - no notice the driver seat right side sags and is loose moves around. Normal getting in and out of car. Had dealer look at it and said frame broken. Seat need to be replaced 1100. 00 verified seat frame broken with Chevrolet dealer in GA hazard driving when driver seat frame breaks without notice.
The drivers side seat has broken. It is the right side and it is sitting lower than the left side. I have never had this happen in any vehicle I have owned. The other issue is intermittent problems with the shifting of the transmission. It is very worrisome. When you are sitting at a stop sign/light or anything and you go to take off it feels like car shuts down briefly and then it kicks in. The problem can never seem to be replicated at a dealership imagine that.
Tamara recall my driver seat has broken welds on the frame where it bolt to the floor and pulls forward and backwards. And there no recall on it the car only has 130k miles and it seems like im not the only on with the issue and it all seems to be happening right around the same mileage.
The drivers side seat broke loose from the right side and wobbles and in my opinion is causing a safety issue while driving.

Was getting into my parked vehicle, and the seat broke. Took it to the dealership, and they said the weld that held the seat to the railing broke.
Drivers seat is broken and leaning to the right side. Seems like a bracket problem.
The weld on a bar under the driver's seat broke while I was driving causing the driver's seat to move forward and to the right. This is a 3 yr old vehicle with low mileage it should never happen and can cause serious injury in an accident. I had a previous Malibu and this never happened. Please recall this part. I checked your other complaints and it is common!.
Driver seat weld broken.
The driver's seat is broken and dips down in front and to the right. It's like a bracket under the seat is broken. It's dangerous because every time I lean forward, my seat drops down in the front which could affect my driving. I have read online that there are many Malibus with the same exact issue.

While driving my vehicle the power assisted front seat moved forward approximately 1/4 to 1/2 inch on the right portion of the seat. This also happened when turning the vehicle as well, e. G. If to the left the right portion of the seat would move forward, if the turn was to the right the right portion of the seat would move back. Eventually the driver's seat sloped downward to the right. This created a hazardous situation while driving. I have owned many cars and never once have I had a seat break like this. Apparently this is a problem with gm vehicles from what I have been able to read. Gm refused to admit that this is their fault and I am out almost a $1,000. 00 to have there problem fixed.
Driver's seat rail broke. Seat tilts towards console, not allowing proper seat positioning and rocks back and forth.
I got into my 2006 chevy Malibu ltz (I'm not an overweight person, I weigh 192lbs at 6ft tall) and the front seat collapsed backwards and to the right. Apparently the support bar underneath the seat had broken at the weld. I took it into the dealership and was told it would cost nearly $1000 to repair as they would have to replace the entire front seat. Subsequent searches on the internet show this is apparently a pretty wide spread problem. If this had happened while driving or during an accident, I may have lost control of the car or been seriously injured as the collapse was sudden and violently threw me backwards. I really think chevy should look into this problem. As I noted above, the break was at the weld not in the bar itself. This means that either they need better welds or more support underneath the seat.

I own a 2004 Chevrolet Malibu maxx. The front drivers seat recently has started uncomfortably leaning to the right and shiftng back and forth. I was just informed by my mechanic that the frame on the front seat drivers side is broken. He did not recommend trying to fix it due to the fact that by breaking it has affected the whole integrity of the frame. He advised me to get a new seat due to safety issues if being in accident or crash. He said the seat could come all the way loose and cause the driver to fly forward and sustain serious injury. Also, it could cause the air bag to inflate prematurely. I would like to see gm do a recall due to this being a safety issue. And by doing research on the computer I have found that there are a lot of Malibu owners that have had their car seat frames break. This problem is not due to abuse or extended wear. It is due to an inadequate, defective part. I need advice as to how to proceed with addressing this issue with gm. Thank you.
I have owned a 2004 Chevrolet Malibu maxx for a couple years. Recently the drivers seat started wobbling and now sits uncomfortably crooked leaning to the right. I had my mechanic take the whole seat out to determine what the problem was and he said that the frame holding the seat to the floor had broken in 2 places. He said that there was no way to fix it safely for several reasons. He said that the materials for the frame were weak and inadequate. He said that it would be impossible to weld because there was no way to do it without possibly starting the seat on fire. He also brought up the facts that if a seat wasn't securely bolted to the floor and was loose that in a front end crash the seat would throw the driver forward into the windshield. The air bag "might" help slightly. Or - if you were hit from the rear with the seat loose the seat would collapse backward and throw the driver to the rear of the car or possibly through the rear windshield. Either situation could cause serious injury or death to a driver with this situation. My mechanic suggested replacing the whole seat but why would I spend the possible $900 and end up with a seat with the same inadequate, weak frame only to break again. The seat broke because of cheap, weak, inadequate materials that were used. It did not happen from wear and tear or abuse. It is a huge safety issue that gm needs to recall and fix at their expense. I hope others reading this complaint will pursue this issue with gm until a recall happens, and before any of us are killed!.
I was driving about 35 mph on flat strait road when the drivers seat suddenly dropped down, back and toward the right. Upon inspection I see that the weld on the brace/frame of the seat has broken. The seat is now unstable and sloping to the right. I fear the other side may snap as well. I see several other complaints regarding the exact same issue. This needs to be recalled before somebody is seriously hurt.
Noticed seat moved and tended to lean driver toward center console. Upon inspection the seat frame broke at the right rear. When the car accelerates the seat rocks backward for several inches. I have owned the car since it was purchased new from the dealer.
Front driver seat weld broken. Seat leans to side. Uncomfortable driving and unsafe.
My daughter purchased this car about a year ago, she stated the drivers side seat would not adjust. I assumed a bad adjustment motor. When I examined the seat I discovered that the welds on the front cross-bar and the rear cross bar were separated between the seat and lower adjustment frame, this causes the drivers seat to lean toward the center console and rear of the vehicle. Upon first examination I thought the welds had broken, but on closer examination it appears that the weld did not penetrate the metal far enough as the weld and bar were both intact, except for some superficial scaring on the tubing. This results in a major safety problem as the seat belt is attached to the seat at the right side of the drivers seat, not to the floor of the vehicle. Should this vehicle be involved in a frontal crash these broken welds render the seat belt ineffective at best or useless, depending on the weight of the driver. If the air bags do not deploy the driver will be thrown foreword along with the seat with the appearance that the drivers weight broke the seat, when in-fact the seat was either broken already or severly weakened by inadequate welds. A cursory on line search revealed that this defect exists in in the chevy Malibu, monta carlo, pontiac grand prix, pontiac g6, Saturn aura and ion. Model years 1999 through 2009. I contacted gm ref# 71-1377722607 and as with many other on line complaints were told in essence too bad out of warranty your problem not ours. I am fully capable of welding this frame my self, and will do so however, gm dealers charge app $1000. For the repair and if using the same stock frames, will install a faulty frame. In my opinion these faulty welds expose people without a passing familiarity to mechanics, to unnecessary expense as well as an unnecessary safety hazard.
Driver side seat frame broke, head gaskets failed,.
