Drivers seat frame broke at two weld areas. Vehicle has never sustained any damage to seat. Seat framed just failed. Dealership and welding shops have all told me this is a safety issue and should never have happened.

2004 Malibu lt, weld on rt front of 6 way driver seat broken, seat motor runs but can not make seat adjustments. The seat sags to right when trying to move forward or back. But will not move forward or back on the seat frame.

The weld on my seat track broke. I work at a dealership and they said that it is not suppose to break. My seat is completely off the seat track on my driver's right part of the seat.

Driver's seat broke at welds on two support bars. Seat leaned to the right. Became very dangerous since seat belt is attached to the seat near the breaks. In the event of a collision seat probably would have broken loose and caused serious injury or death. Contacted gm about the problem and were advised to fix seat ourselves since it was not a recall item. (we did have the seat replaced. ) we do have the broken seat in case someone from the NHTSA would like to inspect it. I noticed that there are numerous other drivers who have complained of the same problem. Seat replacements run about $1000. 00 at a dealership.

Power driver's seat suddenly tilted back and right, and I heard a loud pop. Upon inspection a bar that runs under the seat broke at a weld. Seat now feels insecure and bouncy.

My vehicle was stopped at a traffic light. I was struck in the rear end by a minivan traveling about 50 mph. The drivers seat back broke at the bottom hinged area and left me lying flat on my back, still in the seat. This sent my feet flying straight up cousing them to strike under the dash and breaking my toes.

My wife's 2004 chevy Malibu driver's seat is broken and bobbles up and down and toward the right. According to info I've been reading on websites, many other drivers have had this problem. The driver's seat is broken and rocks to the rear right. It appears the weld broke in the seat frame. I have read multiple complaints of this in the chevy Malibu and wonder why a recall hasn't been issued.

I was driving 25 mph in a school zone when it felt like another car had crashed into me , I looked in all my mirrors and there was no other cars around , I then notice my drver seat had me sitting lopsided and something was stabing me in the hip, something under my seat had busted, so I went home looked at it further and there was some type of seat gear that had come thru the fabic and thats what was stabing me. I took it to the local chevy dealer that I had puchaced it from and they said it happened because the frame to the seat had broke and give me a estimate $856. 00 just to fix the frame and that dont include the seat that the gears and ripped holes thru. I called the the Chevrolet company and they said there is no recalls on the seat so there not covering any of the cost. I looked online and there is a couple hundred other people who have the same issues with the driver seat in the Malibu models from 2004-2010. Thank god I was not on the interstate doing 70 mph or I could have been a serious accident injuring several others. My seat is now unsecure and unsafe redering the seatbelt also unsafe because the seat is not place properly. Drivers seat broke in three places and is a hazard to drive , because the seat moves left to right when you get in and out of the car. When the seat moves before driving, you sit tilted to the left and its uncomfortable to sit and drive good. It happened so sudden I was afraid to drive anywhere, if I did I only drove slow.

The driver's seat is broken and rocks to the rear right. It appears the weld broke in the seat frame. This is the 2nd time the seat has broken. The first time, it was covered by warranty. I have read numerous complaints of this in the chevy Malibu and am requesting that gm issue a recall. This is a significant safety hazard as the seat is not stable, especially during turning maneuvers.

The driver seat is broken due to poor design of seat assembly. Many other Malibu owners have reported the issue on various other automobile defect sites. Due to broken seat assembly, driver's position could shift unexpectedly, causing, at a minimum, a distraction, if not loss of control of the vehicle.

Back of drivers seat broke at hinge area as I was leaning back and upward to place wallet in rear pocket. The seat back is now loose and unstable as it tilts to center console and is unstable both in accelleration and decelleration and feels like it will seperate from the bottom seat.

Stopped behind traffic and the vehicle behind me did not. Not sure how fast they were going, but fast enough to hit the rear of my car 2 times and push me into the vehicle in front of me. We had fixed at todd wenzel in hudsonville mi a used seat cost us $472. 95 we feel this was a defective seat and a safety hazard.

While driving went to put on the brakes and the driver seat made a loud thump and shifted forward to the right I had to grip the steering wheel and pull over because the seat was leaning forward to the right and made it hard for me to drive. I got out and the bar under the seat that guides the seat was broken had to manuever it to drive after puttting a block of wood under it to stabalize the seat so I could drive. Had new tires, lugs and nuts put on car in June along with entire suspension system fornt and back and wheel alignment and on two occasions my lugs had to be changed due to breakage or lugs coming unscrewed and dropping off on front driverside and back passenger had car checked and there appears to several mechanic shops nothing visibly wrong but this is a sure safety hazard.

I recently encounter an incident with my 2004 chevy Malibu driver side front seat, out of no wear the steel welded bar under the seat broke on the right side cause the seat to tilt to the right, making it very difficult to drive the cars in a safe manner. To the NHTSA team this problem is dangerous and unsafe something should be done to correct this problem before it resort in a life and death situation.

Drivers seat frame broke while driving.

Service air bag light had come on. Took into shop they told me it was a notorious on the 2007 Malibus and not to worry about it. . . . . . Still makes me feel very nervous to the fact what if I am driving down the hiway and it blows out at me causing me to have a head on accident!!!! now on April 3, 2014 I was driving to work and my drivers seat broke! it totally just broke while I was driving! I mean wth I am a 5'7 female that weighs 155 lbs! I am the only one who drives my car! there shold be no reason my seat broke! I know have to have the service station in town look at it and see what if anything can be done!!! I have seen other complaints on here also from other Malibu owners where their seats just broke also!!!! this could be deadly!!!! I am not happy at all and dont believe I will ever purchase another Chevrolet vehicle again in my life!!!! I contacted gm about my seat yesterday and the guy put me on hold contacted the nearest gm shop to me got the service manager on a 3 way call and hung up!! I explained my problem to him and he said that would be my dime. . . . He could certainly look at it for me but to replace the seat would be very costly to me! how the heck am I suppose to drive when my seat sits like a rocking chair!!!!.

This 2005 Malibu maxx lt is equipped with a 6-way power driver's front seat. Something has broken that allows the seat to slide forward slightly during braking and slide back during acceleration. I have read the various owner's complaints regarding broken Malibu seat frames and I feel that this manufacturing defect should be repaired or replaced by Chevrolet. This vehicle has only 56,000 miles and is driven by my wife who weighs only 122 pounds. It has been a garage kept car all its life and is exceptionally clean. There is no reason for this seat to have failed other than poor construction. As with many complaints, this is a safety issue! this seat has not been fixed yet.

I bought a use chevy 2005 Malibu and the front rail for the frame of the drivers seat broke. After looking around I found it is a very common issue and feel it's a major safety issue! I was told by the old owner that it broke a year after buying the car and the dealer wanted way to much to replace it? if it's a matter of safety should they not fix it for free? should their not be a recall on it? again after looking around on the web and asking around to many dealer shops it is a very known issue that chevy has not ever addressed. I just know that not only is it very hard to sit in, it also feels like it's going to come up off the floor every time I hit the brakes. I'm sure if I even got into the smallest fender bender it would eject me. Please do something to make gm repair this issue! also lets maybe address the issue with the failing power steering that has already caused injury's thanks.

Sat down in drivers seat and it popped and slumped to the right towards the center console. I looked under the seat and the metal tube frame had separated at the weld and looks like it just peeled back. The seat is now unstable and will wobble back and forth during driving. Researched this on the internet and it appears that there is an epidemic of driver seat frames breaking in the same manor on this year Malibu maxx. With so many vehicles experiencing the same malfunction in the frame it would appear that a manufacturing defect exists with this seat. The manufacture should be required to investigate and repair the defect as a safety issue.

While driving on the freeway, luckily on a curve. The driver seat began to wobble and lean to the right and back and I thought the motor came out of alignment. When I got home I began to search to locate the issue. After further investigation I noticed that the front bar of the seat had broken off. I have taken pictures of the defect. The issue and concern I have at this time is safety, how can a seatbelt secure me if the seat is not attached to the car during an accident. If I were in a stand still on a freeway and the car behind me did not stop in time and hit me at 45 mph, what would the result be? I picture my seat finally snapping off of its frame and me and the seat flying through the windshield.

As I sat down in drivers seat the seat seemed to lean to the right and tilted back slightly. I looked under seat to see what was wrong and noticed a bar across front side of seat was broke away from it's original welded position. After removing seat I noticed that the bar had indeed broken free from weld. Not only was the weld broken but the bar which wasn't really a bar but a pipe slightly thicker walled than a piece of type m copper piping broke off with a piece missing. Also noticed same problem with the pipe that encases the bar at rear of the seat that allows the seat back to tilt back or forward. The pipe has also broken the weld and missing a piece of the pipe. We bought this car brand new and my wife is the primary driver . Weight average 155 lbs. So I don't believe weight plays a part of this poorly designed work of failure. Mileage is less than 10,000 per year owned. This is extremely upsetting. Is Chevrolet responsible or since warranty is over they can get away with this poor design and safety issue?.

Purchased car and realized that the seat is broken. It appears the driver's side frame has become un-welded at a joint on the right front crossbar causing the seat to lean toward passenger side and wobble in remaining frame as car is driven. Shocking that this defect is common for this vehicle, that there is the potential for injury and even fatality related to the shock of this breaking as one drives it down the road and the potential for a crash from the alarming nature of this defect. Took this to the local car repair shop to see if they could fix it, they had never seen anything like it before, and recommended we go to a junk yard to purchase a new frame. After seeing all the complaints related to this same side/position, it seems a recall to fix this defect should be in order.

Driving approximately 10 mph heard a loud pop on the driver side seat and the seat now tilts to the right and is unsafe to be sitting in seat. The seat broke at the welding bracket.

For the second time my drivers seat has broken on the right hand side at a weld joint on the front cross rod. The first time it failed around 30,000 miles and the second time around 71,000 miles. This is a common problem, a safety issue and needs a recall. Not only is Chevrolet getting away with this, but the fix is complete seat frame replacement that cost the consumer about $1000. Chevy wins again as they get to sell a defective part at a profit. A great deal for chevy until I buy my next car. Time to do the right thing and do a recall.

The support bracket welded to the seat frame broke on the driver side seat, causing the seat to lean towards the passanger side. The seat can not raise up on the passanger side of the driver seat.

Driver seat is broken. There was no incident that caused it to break. It is crooked and sometimes moves while driving, which has caused my footing to slip off the brake/gas.

Drivers seat defected. The metal bracket that secure the seat broke, casing the seat not to slide forward or back, up or down. Also the seat padding and cover to separate from the seat molden. Took vehicle to Buick car service department. They said this was the second time they heard of this and wanted to charge e six hundred for the repairs stating they would pick up the other six hundred . At the time the vehicle was still under warranty and they was repairing the transmission that also went out on a vehicle. The vehicle at the time was less then five years old. .

Weld on driver seat broke on front right side. Seat leans to right.

As I turned my 04 Malibu to the lt my drivers side front seat broke on rt side causeing me to lean hard to the rt and rearward almost loosing control of car. I have 81371 mi. On car. Appears to me to be a safety issue. I thought gm stood by their products. Looking at all the other complaints about this same issue and gm refuseing to fix this safety issue,I am worried about how safe this car really is. I also had my heated seats come on all by their over 300 documented times while under warranty and said there was nothing wrong with it. The seats came on even when no one was sitting in the seat.
