Seats Problems of Chevrolet Malibu - part 2

My driver seat is powered and it is inoperative. It remains stuck in a reclined position. At first the seat would not return to an upright position but all the other power functions (reclining the seat, moving it forward and back, tilting the seat, moving it up/down) still worked. I took the car to a shop and they said that the cause was some of the wiring had disconnected. They took the seat out and made sure everything was plugged in correctly. The seat worked again but only for a short while. Now, the issue is present again and the driver seat will not move forward/back or return to an upright position. This is hazardous because the seat is not able to offer the driver the correct seating position to drive.

Broken welds under the seat where they should never be broken, very dangerous! seat is all the way down, driver side seat has collasped.

Chafed wiring under passenger seat to short out and ground. . Causing headlights to go out and all electrical parts to short out. . . No headlights or tail lights.

Driver seat control panel missing seat will not move.

When driving my car, it felt and sounded like the seat popped out of its track. The seat now leans in towards the center of the vehicle. You can pull around on it and feel it moving. The seat is not tightened down to the body of the car.

The seat belts on this vehicle have some issues. I was involved in a wreck lately and I was hurt really bad from the seat belt on the chevy . The seat belt dinted into my body causing some really bad pain when the accident occurred.

The plastic trim on drivers seat which has the controls on it to operate and hold the seat up on the side cracked and controls were not accessible and part was no longer holding up the seat. Purchased car March 28,2015. On October 26,2017 I paid for the part and labor since I was told it was not under warranty. It's now April 9th, 2019 and the part is pulling away from the seat again. I was told the warranty for the last repair expired on October 26, 2018. My option was to pay for the part and repair again. The plastic trim should be considered defective since it holds the seat up and the buttons that access the seat controls are on it. The part and labor charges should be covered by the manufacturer for this defective part.

The drivers seat moves unexpectedly front and back without manual contact therefor this can cause myself an accident by moving the back support to the front and back this happened when the car turned off and while driving.

The 6 way front drivers seat has failed 6 times since 2006. The most recent incident was 3/15/2019. The first failure was in 2007. The welds that support the frame break and I have replaced the seat 3 times, welded 3 times. This is a significant safety issue as it has occurred while driving after hitting a bump and caused me to loose control of the car. I am reporting this now as the dealers ignore this as an issue and just want over a $1000 to replace the same defective part which will fail again. Nhtsa is my last hope that lives will be saved. This is not an unusual problem as there are many reports of this defect.

Was driving my 2011 chevy Malibu ltz when I noticed the driver side seat started leaning to the right side. I inspected the underside to see the cross bar broken on the right side. Now the seat rocks and is very unstable. I have read hundreds of reports claim that my the same design flaw. Why is gm not doing something about this?.

Drivers seat started leaning to the right over time. Then one day when we got in the car, the seat was wobbly. Thought maybe a loose bolt, but found seat frame is broken. Looked online and found this is a very common issue with the Malibu, but no recalls. This is clearly a safety issue and should be covered by chevy.

My 2012 Malibu 1lt has some of the same issues the recalls are for but my specific VIN number isn't included in the recalls. My driver seat moves when sitting in it and I need a rack-and-pinion. I'm also having issues with a �rough� idle and when I put it in park the rpm's die down between 1&0 and the car acts like it's trying to cut off.

There is a steering recall for my car but not for my specific VIN #. I'm having the same issue with mine as well. My racking pinion needs to be replaced.

No problems prior to a simple spark plug change(ac delco iridium/oem). Few days later, car started hesitating, and losing acceleration, check engine light & service stability display on screen. Checked with obdii. Gave code of missing spark in #3. So I changed spark plug, thinking faulty plug. After driving a bit, code and same problem again. Took to dealer $170 later, bad coil. . . ! 86k miles and bad coil, after changing plugs. . . Hum! ok so if bad coil why is it giving me a service stabilitrack display? and not coming up on obdii diagnosis? I'm a certified transit desiel mechanic of 15yrs, and this puzzles me. I've ordered coil, changing tmrw. Lets see what outcome will be after chaning coil!.

I purchased this car on 11/30/2018 and noticed now that there was a recall on the seat belts. My car belts have not been replaced.

The seat comes off the metal molding while car is in motion and when you try to adjust the seat it adjusts lopsided and uneven .

The back of the driver seat moves on it's own. I didn't touch the button and it just started moving forward. Faulty wiring over my seat. The car wasn't started and didn't have the key in the ignition.

I bought this Malibu new and have maintained it well. Out of no where, the drivers seat became loose and wobbly. I simply sat in the drivers seat while in my driveway and noticed it. Upon inspection, the seat frame has broken welds. Metal that holds the drivers seat in place on a 6 year old car is broken! it turns and moves as the driver does. I believe that in an incident, the seat would come out. This seems like a design or weld quality problem. I am told the entire seat needs to be replaced and this is a big and expensive job. I was preparing to let my college age daughter drive this car but now I don't know what to do.

Driver side seat is broken and the frame is cracked on the right side which makes it lean towards the middle console. Which causes my seat to be crooked and definitely feels unsafe and worries me that the airbags may not deploy if ever in an accident.

The seat will not function properly and gets stuck in position, currently the back is tilted nearly all the way back and will not tilt back up.

The floor under driver's seat is soft. When I place my foot down on the floor it sinks in. And the driver's seat started out with a small crack now it is broken.

While car was parked I got into the drivers seat, then all of a sudden the seat shifted. When I went to re-adjust the seat height/ position. The seat leaned to one side and was loose. I took it to a repair shop who refused to even look at it after I described the issue. I found 3 different websites listing the same problem. It boils down to cracked welds. A car under 7yrs old should not have a failure like this. I drove a 1981 Buick century (purchased 1995) with over 87,000 miles and the seats where fine up to when I sold it in 2001. All I can recall is that this happened sometime in 2018. Why has gm and NHTSA not issued recalls. This is a highly dangerous, even fatal flaw in their vehicles.

I went to adjust my seat forward using the automated adjuster and heard a snap. The seat will adjust forward but not as much as usual and leans toward the center console. I can feel the back, left hand corner of the seat lift from the actual frame when turning. I imagine this makes for an awful safety hazard if I were in a crash. I'm glad the seat didn't break while I was moving the car. It happened suddenly and most certainly would've caused me to crash. I'm extremely nervous about what will happen if someone happens to collide with me. Will the the rest of the welds onthe seat frame hold? I've read several complaints about this online already. If I'm in a fender bender or (god forbid) worse, will the seat stay in the car? the seat belt is attached to the seat and I'm worried. What's to keep me from going through my windshield?! this shouldn't happen! there needs to be a recall!.

I was turning left onto a city street when I heard a loud snap and the right side of the drivers seat fell down and started to feel loose.

Drivers seat collapse in rear frame and is loose from frame. Seat is powered and no longer can be adjusted to desired position. Safety issue that should be on recall based upon the number of complaints to NHTSA and internet. Vehicle was stationary when setting down into seat and then seat lurched down and to the right in the back side of the seat.

Heated seat malfunction: turned heated seat on lowest number as we left home and within about 1/4 of a mile the seat became extremely hot on my sons bottom and we started smelling a scent of burning. My son immediately turned off the heated seat and raised up off the seat until I could get the car pulled over. When he got out we saw a hole had burned into the seat. It also burned a small hole in his pants. He could have been severely injured if we had of not been able to pull over quickly.

Driver's seat is wobbling and feels like something is broken or detached beneath the right side of the seat. I've read many complaints about this in a chevy Malibu/maxx. Should be a recall. Mechanics on the phone assume it's a welding issue. The wobbling occurred over time. Shouldn't have to pay for a manufacturing defect.

Keep stuck in ignition. No power. Had p0010 code. Changed the intake camshaft position solenoid.

Tl the contact owns a 2009 Chevrolet Malibu. The contact stated that the bar under the driver's seat detached from the seat and the seat was moving without warning. The contact called a local dealer (ron craft Chevrolet, 4114 I-10, baytown, TX 77521) and was informed that the vehicle was not included in a recall. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified and did not assist. The failure mileage was approximately 120,000.

Driver front seat track cracked at weld spot, seat leans to the right. Issue has happened to many others and appears to be a wide spread manufacture defect. Cost to repair is $1200 through a dealership for a whole new seat frame. Unacceptable that this hasn't been recalled.

The driver's seat frame is broken, causing a sharp lean to the right. It appears that the frame needs to be re-welded. A quick google search found a good number of the same issue. The pictures online look exactly like my problem. (the attached pic is one I found with the same problem, but not my actual seat).
