Engine Exhaust System Problems of Chevrolet Monte Carlo

Over heating, exhaust system went out, fuel gage went out. My check light for the oil and for the cooling system keeps coming on and the dip sticks read normal. This car is falling apart and I just bought it 2 weeks ago I have no money to get it fixed and im scared for my child's safety to be in it. Iv talked to some owners of the identical car and they are having the same issues. These problems need to be fixed and now!.

I was at a friends for several hours proceeding incident. I drove my 1999 chevy Monte Carlo z34 about 1 mile from my friends to taco bell. The car had been running great. I went inside to order I was in their 10-15 minutes. When I came out smoke was coming from under the hood. I opened the hood and the top of the engine was on fire. Taco bell employees called 911 and then provided a fire extinguisher. The fire was put out by the extinguisher and they cancelled the 911 call. I called a tow company and had the car towed home due to the hour and my engine being melted.

On Feb. 15, 2003, the key got stuck in the ignition of the car, and because the car was then out of warranty, I was forced to pay $406. 00 for a repair of the vehicle. On February 20th, 2003, the car started leaking oil and the transmission "jumps" from the parking gear into drive whenever it is turned on. I am asking that the gm manufacturer. The compalints on this vehicle are ongoing. The date indicated below is only the date of the latest incident with this car. To repurchase the vehicle for the monthly payments and interest I have already paid.

Air pump failure - second in 2 years - informed by dealer of problems "due to design defect, location allows water into air pump, this vehicle is known for this problem" but cost to consumer still $313 part coverage 12000 miles and have 14000 miles since last replacement . Dealer said they would contact Chevrolet, never heard from them, I called Chevrolet and have to mail all information to them but I have already had the repair they only waive prior to repair.

1st pump replaced under warranty. At 63,000 miles pump failed again $150 plus labor to repair.
