Two problems related to brake grinding noise have been reported for the 1997 Chevrolet S10. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
When there is a rocky road left wheel locks up and makes a grinding noise, causing extended stopping distance which may result in a crash.
When applying brakes in icy conditions abs kicks in and the vehicle doesn't stop. There is a horrible grinding noise, and the brake pedal pushes up (severly). The same problem occurs in panic stop conditions on wet and dry pavement.
