Two problems related to other fuel system tank assembly have been reported for the 1997 Chevrolet S10. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
The gas gauge failed at 40000, it reads 1/4 tank when there is much less and it will not go below 1/4 tank. Nlm.
Vehicle makes a growling noise upon acceleration. Also clatters and clinks. Dealer claims can't hear a noise. Also gas gauge malfunctions, shows a full tank, even though truck has only 1/4 of a tank.
