Transmission Gear Slipping problems of the 1999 Chevrolet S10

Three problems related to transmission gear slipping have been reported for the 1999 Chevrolet S10. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Transmission Gear Slipping problem

Failure Date: 12/01/2003

Automatic transmission failed. The truck has only 45000 miles on it and its transmission is already burned out. It will cost min. $1500 to correct. We had only purchased it 6 weeks before it failed. The warranty was already over. Gears started to slip, then car stopped dead on main road.

2 Transmission Gear Slipping problem

Failure Date: 11/13/2000

Per delareship, reverse band in transmission started slipping and spread fibers throughout transmission and converter. Trnasmission must be rebuilt at cost of $1,350. High mileage due to daily commute of 150 miles. It does not seem right that reverse gear of transmission should wear out at 58,000 miles.

3 Transmission Gear Slipping problem

Failure Date: 07/22/2000

Transmission slips, and consumer has to shift the gears by hand when it should be automatic. When in traffic automobile does not pickup.
